30,000 Extra Qantas Points on NEW Qantas Frequent Flyer Credit Cards for July

1040

Just browsing through Qantas credit cards today and noticed this.
Qantas has announced a bonus 30,000 QFF points on any Qantas Points earning card. (These are in addition to the sign up bonus).

*Caveat: User must not have had a Qantas points earning card for the past 12 months. Which i'd imagine would rule out a fair chunk of us unfortunately.

Best use of this would be either:
ANZ Platinum QFF - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/543158
*the website wording seems to indicate the card needs to be applied for through the Qantas.com website so this may be inelegible

or

St George Platinum - Annual fee of $49, 60,000 Qantas points + 30,000 bonus points ($2000 spend over 3 months). https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/affiliate/…

  • Qantas Premier Everyday is showing as $49 annual fee, not $29.

    • I believe this was changed during the day, at the time of writing they still had the promotion on. Have updated

  • Bank of Melbourne does seem better choice with most points and least fee

They've clearly stuffed up the Anz Platinum cc because as soon as you select Apply Now it goes to a page that says 'Sorry, that offer cannot be found or has ended.' It indicate to me that you should be good applying for the Anz $0 annual fee given that Qantas stuffed this up.

    • Save your time with ANZ - dealing with their credit card dept is like extracting teeth.

Despite having two mortgages and all my transactional banking with them for 15 years, I cancelled my credit cards a couple of years ago after countless issues. I was tempted to re-apply for their Black Qantas FF with this promo, waived annual fee and signup credits, but a week after applying and uploading supporting docs, I got the foreign call centre call back asking for more evidence to substantiate the payslips I'd uploaded. The fact that they had a payslip and payment summary, plus an ANZ account which received all of my earnings into it was not sufficient to prove my income.

After trying to explain this multiple times, I gave up and in a moment of frustration I told them to withdraw my application. On reflection I genuinely feel like I've dodged a bullet. I'll forgo the 150k in FF Miles and pick a better Black or Platinum card off the Ozbargain recommended list…

I agree they are hopeless because I got approved for the Black only for them to say it was a system error and they had to redo my application again. However having said that the points have credited fast basically within two month and I'm ready to move onto the next card. I find emailing them all the necessary documentation a much easier process than calling over the phone and you always have a trail to hold them accountable.

        • They have an upload link which is part of their online application, so I thought it would be pretty straight forward. And it was up until I had to speak to a human being…

  • Is there a way to confirm with Qantas that the promo is activated? And that the bank registered the FFP

    • when you register you should receive an email
      "Hi XZY
You have been registered for the First-time cardholder 30,000 bonus Qantas Points offer.
You do not need to reply to the email.
For full details, refer to First-time cardholder 30,000 bonus Qantas Points.
Retain this email for any future enquiries.
For details on other offers, visit Member Specials
      Kind regards

Then for the bank I am not sure I need to wait tomorrow to apply for a card again.

      • Thanks, I think for banks you need to confirm if your frequent flyer is activated.

      • I wonder whether this is a generic email and doesn't necessarily imply activation?

I have had two cards in 2020 and I still received that email when I registered for the promotion.

  • Anyone willing to suggest which option is better between Bank of Melbourne, BankSA and St George. I know they are all owned by St George but a little bit of Melbourne pride makes me more inclined to go for Bank of Melbourne.

Do any of the different "Amplify" cards offer slightly different benefits or are they all the same?

Did anyone receive 30k QFF points?

    • Still waiting

    • Received them today!

I received following response so I am out of this promo.

Thank you for contacting Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre.

We sincerely hope that this email finds you well. We understand that you're claiming the 30,000 Bonus Qantas Points for signing up on a new Qantas affiliated Credit Card.

Please be guided that this specific offer is for members who are new cardholders. That being said, in order to be eligible, members must not have earned Qantas Points on any Qantas Points earning card into their Qantas Frequent Flyer account within the past 12 months from offer registration. Note that this condition is stated under the 'Important Information' part of the email offer.

However, in this case, you've previously earned Qantas Points from a different credit card partner in the last 12 months, as such, no longer eligible to receive the 30,000 bonus points.

    • I just checked I registered on the 6th of July, and last time I earnt points was the 19 of July 2019… so I might be missing out, I misread it and thought was when we had a card and I cancelled my last before but I guess was still a statement….

  • Woo hoo, i didn't think this was going to work but got my points today! I had applied for my card a week before this deal via ANZ website and not via Qantas website but still worked.

    Thank you OP!
