Do you know if the Triluminous panel on the Sony's is equivalent technology to Samsung's QLED? If so this TV has a worse panel as its not QLED, and not considering all the other upscale and HDR processors.
I know in side by side viewing and many reviews.
Samsung Q7 and higher was the X95g match up.
Samsung pricing is hugely outta whack considering. Irrespective of their quality.
For this to have a RRP around $3500 is absurd.
I wouldn't be in any rush to be buying a TV atm. Probably the worst time in many many years. 8f you need one…. Well be prepared for serious buyers remorse. Not to mention many of the 2020 models I've seen in reviews seem to offer next to nothing more than 2019 (looking at Sony in particular I know of)
Not so at Costco (Epping), I went down the TV aisles and 9/10 TV's between 50" - 65" were sold out, it was crazy!
@Skinnerr: There isn't much stock around
It seems there are a few experts in the room! May I pick your brains?
Our 47” LG just died after 9 years service. Looking for a 75” as a minimum and needs to be 120Hz compatible for next gen console gaming.
Understand the comments above about timing being bad, but ideally need to buy in the next couple of days given EOFY sales.
Budget under $3k if at all possible. I have been happy with LG, but open to other brands, just not keen for a laggy Android experience if that is still a thing. What are my options?
TIA!
"Looking for a 75” as a minimum and needs to be 120Hz compatible for next gen console gaming."
I think under 3k the only TV that has 75 inch and 120hz is a TCL, even then I think is only 1440p 120hz. I think only the current series of LG OLED supports 120hz at 4k.
Thanks. Not sure who negged you but they must disagree with your statement. I appreciate your help either way!
I don’t know much about TCL so will do some research, but are they generally considered 2nd tier in relation to the LG, Samsung, and Sony’s of the world?
Yeah I don't know if the TCL is worth try, is more like 3rd Tier I'd say, but my point was that just hard to meet what you want on your budget. So LG, Samsung and Sony first tier, Hisense would be 2nd tier and then TCL would be third I'd say.
I would honestly try to either go smaller so you can get a first tier does 120hz, or just forget the 120hz and get a first tier that is 75 inches or more.
Also, you might see TV that says like 200hz or like 600hz or something but that's describing flicker rate and not frame rate. So yeah, is best to plug in the TV model in rtings.com and then look at the Supported Resolutions box
@la838: Awesome, thanks for the tips! There does seem to be a ridiculous price jump from 65” to 75”/77” and again to 82”+.
I also noticed the response times of these TVs run from 20-30ms, so it probably makes more sense to have the TV as a TV and a 1ms computer monitor for gaming. That $3k is probably better spent on a gaming computer setup.
@Master Bates: 65“ is a great median. My old man got a 65" Samsung for 3k a few years ago and it's great.
Also consider room size and couch placement for your needs.
@Skinnerr: Yep, to game properly on the 47” I have to halve my viewing distance from 4m+ to 2m, so I imagine I can adequately accommodate a 75” given viewing distance from the couch.
It’s the price that seems to be prohibitive. I am strongly thinking along the lines of TV for video playback and monitor for gaming. Seems to fit within the 3k budget and each device is best suited to its purpose.
Have a look at Samsung QLED Q70T is supposed to be 200Hz.
Appreciate the advice. According to la838 above the 200Hz might refer to flicker rate not frame rate, but I’ll check out reviews to confirm!
Is a 75 inch TU8000 for $1682.85 worth it? Or should I wait? Price is from Samsung Employee Store.
Given the X95G TV's were going for low to mid 3s I'd suggest a much lower end Samsung at $3k isn't something I'd be recommending anyone run to. Regardless of the current market.
The X95G competed with Samsungs best 4K models at a much cheaper price.
