    • Awesome, thanks :)

I see Manna Beans.. I upvote;-) Good timing for me too and I'll re-stock.

      Appreciated, have a great week :) ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  • How good are these compared to levista from supermarket?

    • +3

Try it !! Pretty sure youโ€™ll never go back to supermarkets ones.

    • +1

For a start they're fresh and secondly you'll know when they were roasted. Doesn't get much better than Manna beans.
You'll never go back to the predominately stale supermarket stuff.

      • Appreciate your kind feedback and great to hear that you are enjoying the coffees! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ

  • I highly recommend these beans. Been buying them for a year or so now.

    • Thanks Gareth ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

  • Brazil Adalgisa Vilela - excellent for milk based coffees, just tried this one yesterday after trying it as a pour over coffee.

Some of the best coffee I've had was made from Manna beans. Kudos to Manna for a mean roast!

    • Hectic, you're a legend! ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅ‡

  • they used to have those machines in the supermarket for grinding the beans. apart from buying a specialised blender, what are my options for grinding coffee beans?

    • +5

Hand grinder? You don't want a 'blender' of any kind for coffee beans. You want a burr grinder.

    • +5

Buy a grinder - Breville Smart is on here every other week. Freshly ground is key to getting the best coffee.

      • I second this!

I've had my smart grinder for nearly 6 years and I've never looked back

Got this deal last time. Superb coffee all round. Magical Unicorn is our new favourite.

    • Agree - magical unicorn is fantastic.

      • Great to hear, thanks for the feedback! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Ordered last week and they arrived super fast. These beans are highly recommended!!

    • Thnaks, have a great week ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • Does manna beans have any beans which are boozy? Think winey/alcoholic red berry notes.

    • Maybe Ethipia Purple ๐Ÿท๐Ÿท is the closest at the moment. Personally I also love the Ethiopia Blue Copper!

Ok ive been convinced I'm going to give this a try.

    • Welcome aboard!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I prefer chilly coffee, chilly and coffee go so well together, just like salt and caramel.

However chocolate sprinkles adds no benefit.

      • You guys are making me hungry! ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฐ

  • Can you freeze these in the bags they come in or do you need to transfer to a more suitable container?

    • The bags they arrive in. They are already sealed, no benefit in changing. I smoosh them around a bit to make them flat so they fit together in the freezer better.

  • +2

How do these compare to the Aldi beans? Finding those has been a godsend.

  • -2

I'd never buy more than 1kg of beans at a time as their quality will deteriorate in a month or a couple of weeks depends on how fussy you are.

ALDI beans are great, I have little doubt these beans will taste better but not by much. I'll take ALDI beans any day given the price difference.

    • +2

They'll taste better by a country mile!No comparison really.

They are fresh for a start and you know exactly when they are roasted and that is something you can't do with supermarket beans.

      • +2

Have you tried the ALDI beans esp the new additions like Brazilian/Peru? I have tried both (ALDI and the ones ordered from online roasters), Admittedly those beans are better but not by a country mile, not with my untrained taste bud at least.

Supermarket beans are crap in general however not all supermarket beans are created equal.

        • The ALDI beans are decent, but it's rare for me to walk in at any given day and find beans that have been roasted within the last two weeks. This might vary by store of course, but I'd rather have a guarantee that the beans are actually fresh.

          • -1

@scix: I hear you, If you are willing to pay the premium for the best possible beans go for it. for me ALDI beans are decent and good enough for me at nearly half the price I used to pay for the beans I bought from local roasters.

After all we're now on OZbargain not coffeesnobs.

    • You look like someone who is fussy about time of roasting and then consumption - but then have recommended ALDI beans instead? Surely supermarket beans have an extended period between roasting, getting shipped, sitting in stock rooms and on shelves? Whats the roast date on the ALDI beans you buy?

      • If I have to pay $30+/kilo for beans yes I would be fussy about time of roasting. but for $13/kilo I would not complain. I do not know the roast date of the ALDI beans though I know they are roasted in Melbourne unlike many others are packed overseas, and I am still able to get pretty good crema out of it.

        • +2

I dont doubt you being fussy about time of roasting, im the exact same. But your points contradict themselves - you said that you dont buy over a KG of beans due to the quality deteriorating in a month or a couple of weeks but then recommend ALDI beans which are already a good month past roasting date before you even buy them?

    • I agree, Aldi beans are the best value for money as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure they're not as good as theses ones but I'm not fussy enough to spend 3 or 4 times the price.

  • +1

Just drinking the last of our Magical Unicorn beans which are probably getting onto 5 weeks old…. suprisingly, they are tasting fantastic still (possibly as good or better than the first week!). Normally beans start to taste like supermarket stuff around this time.

    • Yep, I find they still perform pretty well at 5 weeks ๐Ÿ‘

      • I usually keep my blends till the end. Feel they retain the fresnhess better than singles.

  • Whatโ€™s the lucky dip? Can I remove the luck element out of it and just choose a 4th bag to my liking?

  • +1

order twice ……there is not roast dates on packages. Taste also not so fresh IMO, never look back.

  • Disappointed with the customer service, my points were raised in the last post. I'm shopping around now.

    • Thanks for feedback, just to clarify; all coffees are fresh roasted to order so we don't put roast dates ๐Ÿ˜

      • I didn't comment on roast dates- feedback was here:

Thanks, I hadn't seen this comment from previous deal. I take onboard what you said and agree that there are times(especially recently) where we have been quite busy getting coffee out to people and perhaps a little less proactive interacting on Ozbargain. We are running on less staff at the moment and have been affected by the current situation like most. There was also an issue with the contact page of our website for a short while but will always respond to and encourage any issues feedback or requests emailed to either [email protected] or [email protected]

We do of course value our regular customers and strive to give good service. With these cheaper Ozbargain deals, they are only viable because we can roast the same coffees in bigger batches and streamline the service. Because of this, although we always try to accommodate individual requests that are outside of the deal listing, unfortunately it is too labour intensive to always reply to these requests and negotiate coffee changes on an individual basis. This is why we ecourage notes to be left and say that we will fulfil if possible but can't make promises.

It is becoming harder and harder to offer these deals at the same price point as shipping costs have increased 30-50% and coffee prices have also consistently increased. We don't use just cheaper commercial coffees but work with the farmers more directly and all coffees are specialty grade 84 points upwards.

To keep the deals possible at this pricepoint we don't always have time to reply to all Paypal notes making requests outside of the deals offerings.
We do offer this service though, along with dedictaed small bactch roasted coffees from our standard website listings for people that want a more customised and personal service.

I hope you understand and I do apologise that you felt this way. I also take onboard your comments. Hope you have a great week ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

          • @mannabeans: Thanks for taking the time to respond. Like I said the main thing that seems to have gone from the purchasing experience (the vibe) is you guys - not costs or what you can/can't facilitate because I appreciate those constraints. Your product is great and you are too, but without rapport my heart will wander.

            • @bxpressiv: Appreciate your honest feedback! Relationship is very important to us too so totally understand! We do very much appreciate the support from you guys so will try to show more love ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ

              • +1

@mannabeans: I reckon just an automated email when you receive paypal funds back to the senders email address saying "Hey, we received your order and will start processing it. If you added any requests we'll see what we can do and get back to you."
And then a "Hey, just letting you know we shipped your order." once it's shipped would do wonders.

        • I've never had a problem with them since they started on ozb, and from memory almost every minor request i've had was considered..but not always acknowledged via reply.

I have seem some people posting on these deals basically asking for a custom service, or specific beans exchanged with the blend. Heck i'd also like Manna beans to replace my random blend with some Ethiopian Yirgacheffe…..everytime!
If thats what people want (and im not singling you you out here) feel free to pay full price and order from the site.

That said, i agree a complaint of stale beans should be responded to, at least.

          • @fusion17: If I'm being grouped into your thoughts then you missed my point, if not then carry on.

          • @fusion17: Thanks for feedback Toshin! Not sure if you are needing coffee but if you you are then you could be in luck. I just accidentaly roasted 20kg of an expensive Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Peaberry Orange.

Was gonna send as some lucky dips for people so you can leave notes in Paypal if you want some and will try our best to accommodate!

  • Since getting a semi-fancy coffee machine we've been trying beans from all over Aus, thus far Manna Beans is the only one that we've liked almost everything we've received.
The only one we've tried and weren't hooked on is the Caticorn (not in this pack) but the other 9 varieties we've sampled are spot on! Our fave so far is the Brazil Adalgisa Viela.

    • Hi Mark&Kay, appreciatethe feedback! The Brazil Adalgisa is a new coffee from some great new farmers in Brazil that we are now working with ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • how long does a closed bag keep?

    • +1

Chuck sealed bags in the freezer. They'll be ok for ages, but the fresher you use em the better they taste. The longer you leave them the more mediocre it gets. So a lot depends on your standards.

I find I get used to the declining quality over time and then when I get a fresh batch of coffee I'm always like "This is the best thing I've ever tasted", and then again I get used to the slide in quality as the beans get old. It's a wild ride.

You are best off getting small freshly roasted bags, but it's expensive. I buy about a kilo at a time max normally.

      Never tried mana.

      • Thanks MrDixit ;) that's correct! Good for about a year but only considered fresh for first 4-5 weeks. After this the quality slides until it is similar to what you would find on a supermarket shelf.

If keeping longer than 5 weeks then perhaps buy less or consider freezing :)

  • brazil nuts are healthy, but one a day

  • Hey OP. Any chance of getting the Columbia Libano instead of the lucky dip in my order?

    • +1

If you use the send funds feature in Paypal and send to [email protected] it allows you to leave notes in Paypal with your request.

We will always try to help where possible but can't promise. It depends on what is being roasted etc. I think we are now out of Colombian Libano but
I have a very similar coffee called Colombia Isnos๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • thank OP. good timing, bought (again).

    • Great, thanks Dave ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Must be some premium coffee, I buy $20/kg on special from Lavazza

  • Any chance for a delayed send?
Would like to order now but get it sent in a couple of weeks so I can get through my current batch.

Haha or a deal for 4x 250gr bags?
Would just like to drink it all fresh :)

    • These deals stay active for a good while. A couple of weeks, so just order when you need it.
There always seems to be one manna beans deal that's active when you need it.

    • @Phreaker Happy to offer the same pricing for you in a couple of weeks when you need more coffee and either the same coffees or something comparable dependent on what is being roasted at the time :)

Probably best to place order at the time you need though :) Have a great weekend!

  • Time for a refill :)

  • Thanks, bought again.
