Favourite beans on the planet. Cant wait till you guys get some on your green bean varieties back

    • I'll bear that in mind and perhaps run a greater selection for you guys in the coming weeks :)

      • the moment you get Colombia Huila back in stock you might as well just charge my paypal account for a couple of kilos ;)

Still blown away at how amazing they were not to mention how they paired perfectly with almond milk. It was like I was having a cup of cherry chocolate

  • Still getting through the last deal, but excellent coffee in my opinion.

  • Whats best way to store the 1.5kg that is not opened.

    Thanks

    • +2

Split it into zip lock bags of about how much coffee you'd use in a week and pop them in the freezer, then just pull one bag out as you need it

      • +1

        Freezer works for me too

    Sounds like a good deal!

Only thing better than the coffee from Manna is the customer service. Flora and Simon are great. Always have my business.

    • +1

I agree, been great to me over the years bending over backwards to help me out.

However one went through to the keeper, I sent a message through their site about a month ago as I was asking about their Geishas but got no response. I thought expensive isolation coffee would be a good idea but no answer so no sale unfortunately.

      • +1

Sorry for not replying, it must have been missed. Please let us know if you have any further questions moving forward :)

    • +2

Right, have dealt with Flora, and she's the best πŸ˜‰

      • +1

        seconded

    • I second this. Been buying from Manna Beans for years and always reliable fast shipping. Coffee smells freshly roasted when it arrives. The deals don't expire it seems.

Currently still getting through the Columbia Inza Microlot - has a real interesting taste to it, then got a 1kg bag of Brazil Natural Mundo to crack open.

I drink using a 3-cup Bialetti moka express on my gas stove, packed full. Dark'n'thick! Topped up with hot water and a little milk.

Compare to these beans which is better? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/536626

  • I bought an aldi single origin Peru pack of beans - to tinker with our new dual boiler , what is the valve on the packet and what does it do and when should I open it?

Keen to try these manna beans too once I’m more confident with the machine!

    • -2

I think it's a one way valve for vacuum packing. Just ignore it.

    • +5

Freshly roasted beans will degas over a couple of days. The valved bags allow the beans to be packed without the risk of the bags exploding.

      • +2

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! This is correct πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

    • +1

No Aldi coffee will ever come close to Manna beans. Aldi coffee as far as I remember has no roast date. Manna beans are roasted fresh, just before delivery.

You should do yourself a favour and get Manna beans and support an Australian business.

      • +2

This is incorrect. Aldi do use local roasters for their 'premium' beans. I.e. pg 29 of this pdf reveals Veneziano coffee roasters in Richmond roast for Aldi.

      • +2

Incorrect. Aldi sells craft roasted beans from Melbourne. I am using Lazzio medium roast and it is great. Also $11 a kilo.

        • Good luck with that.
Specialty coffees always cost more than supermarket varieties. You do get what you pay for with Manna Beans!

  • +2

These are my favourite OzBargain beans, and in general.

  • Any idea what delivery time to Melbourne is ATM? My last order took forever. Dispatched from Manna OK, just delivery was Coronafied.

    • Sorry to hear! We should be able to dispatch Aus Post express tommorrow but not too sure how the deliveries are at the moment. It kinda depends on the suburb I'm guessing.

May be worth allowing a couple of extra days due to current situation. On the good side, it allows time for the beans to develop a little as they generally taste better after a few days of them degassing :)

      • It's not you're fault. Deliveries from Sydney were glacial too. At times parcels arrived in Melbourne then sat there for a week! Hopefully thgings are returning to normal, your delivery sometimes used to get to me next day!

        • Express Post Townsville to Brisbane, usually overnight, took 5 days because it just sat in Brisbane waiting to process. Not enough people and too many packages I guess. But then I got an overnight package Melbourne to Townsville also Express Post, so I guess it depends on planes and staff capacity to process.

          • @bxpressiv: ordered mine on sunday and got it on wednesday last week. No order confirmation but it was pretty quick i guess.

    • I got mine in 3 days to Melbourne last week! Wasn't expecting it.

    • Ordered late on Sunday night and received Tuesday (inner SE Melbourne).

  • What's the best way to request something for the Lucky Dip if possible. Standard Paypal checkout doesn't let me add any notes to the seller like it used to.
I've sent an email with the paypal order number.

    • +1

Hi Nigel, You're welcome to use the "send money" option in Paypal and send to [email protected]
This allows for notes to be left :)

      Thanks
      Simon

      • Noted for next time. So I just don;t go through the website, and just send the amount directly and note the deal and request in the notes?
        Thanks Simon.

    • You can send money to Manna Beans directly via Paypal ( [email protected] ) and in the notes section request a "Luckier Dip" :-)
It works really well and Manna team is super-helpful.

      • What's this "lucky dip", I've never bought from them before. What would you recommend?

        • +1

Lucky dip is just a random selection of available blends. You can state your preference for Lucky Dip in Paypal notes. If available, Manna team will fulfill your request.

  • It would be nice if there were deals for 500g blends

    • 30 grams is 2 double shot MAX

    • One of these coffee is a popular blend "Magical Unicorn". You're welcome to leave notes requesting all to be blends by using the "send money" option in Paypal and sending to [email protected]
This allows for notes to be left and we will always try to accomodate but can't promise to fulfill all coffee change requests :)

      • I was only looking to buy one 500g blend since I can't consume more than that amount in a month, and I'd prefer to not freeze the beans.

It costs $34.9 to get one 500g blend delivered. If the price can go at less than $28 then that would be great.

    • +1

Sure if you understand anything about postage rates OP trying to maximize grams to a lower postal rate .
      eg at extremes $8.95 for 499g vs $12.20 for 501g :)

      • Thanks Popsie 😊

  • How long can you keep these beans so that it doesn't go stale? Still getting my head around with my new coffee machine, and P&R beans that's hopefully arriving soon.

    Before opening:
Heard mixed reports on the Freezing method.

    After opening:
    Consume within 2 weeks?

    • General rule of thumb, it's condidered fresh roasted for the first month. I find after about week 5 it has a steady decline and although it can still be drunk even after 1 year, it will be more like supermarket quality coffee after 5 weeks :)

      • Thanks for the reply rep!

This is probably a bit too much coffee for my place then.

Normally 2 cups a coffee a day, Assuming 10g per single shot, 1kg will last us about 50 days. (Let me know if this calculation looks incorrect)

Is there any deals for smaller quantities? Love to try seeing the positive responses here.

        • There is a deal on the link 2 x 470g for $34.93, the Brazil Icatu and a lucky dip. I ordered this as I cant get through that much in a month either.

      • I found your beans to be too fresh to drink within the first week as its still off gassing a lot. You reckon it would be find to let it sit for a while before drinking it? Also would it be ok to open a few of them and just seal them for later so you could taste different blends??

  • +2

Normally purchase through coffee snobs but at this price I'm keen to give you guys a go..

    Thanks

    • Awesome thanks. Welcome aboard! πŸš‚πŸš‚

Got in on the last deal. Really enjoying the unicorn at the moment

    • Glad that you are enjoying the coffee! Thanks for the feedback and have a great week! 😁

  • Are you guys open for walk ins currently? I ordered via paypal but I probably should just have picked up if its possible as I'm like a 5 minute drive away haha

Hi, normally we are happy for people to collect but as our cafe is currently closed, we are only only able to ship thecoffees out at the moment :)

  • Is it possible to schedule a dispatch date (e.g. in mid-June)?

    • We always have a similar deal running but coffees may change. It would be beeter to place the order when you need it in June :) You are welcxome to subscribe to our Ozbargain page to be updated with current deals or feel free to give me a shout when you are ready to order :)

  • Love your beans but is it possible to get a deal on a lighter roast? All single origin would be even better, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more.
I find myself mostly making pour over these days and not many people offer a light roast on anything but their most expensive beans :(

    • +1

Happy to light roast any coffees for you but would need to be ordered through our standard website listings as we would need to perform an individual custom roast for you. Thanks πŸ˜€

  • do these coffees have full body or strong body if thats the right terminology for unique tastes in milk?

I bought some coffee recently that was highly rated but found its way to smooth for my liking and lacked taste with milk.

    • Yes they have a decent body as body and sweetness are both desirable for milk coffees. Generally Brazilians are naturally quite high bodied coffees.

The darker the roast, the more body is drawn out but the more sugar is burnt of reducing sweetness. This is why generally a medium dark profile is popular with milk.

Our Magical unicorn blend probably best suits this profile. The Brazil Agalisa is more of a medium roast to highlight it's more syrupy fruity notes.

      Hope this helps.

If you require a darker or more specific roast profile then we can custom roast coffees but only through standard website listings :) Thanks

Aww yiss! Bought me my first batch of Manna beans. Can't wait to taste the hype. :)

    • Awesome!!!! Thanks and welcomeπŸ‘

  • Hi mannabeans,

Ive sent payment via paypal. Have yet to hear back from you. Has my order gone through?

    • I have the same question

      • I received the tracking information via Auspost! Would've liked a confirmation email from them! Saying that my order was shipped?

  • Bought - look forward to being part of the club! Do you have any brewing recommendations for these beans - brew ratio, grind settings, water etc for optimum dialing in, given the variety & roast? I know its always a process unique to the machine being used but wondered whether you have any pointers :)

    Hi OP,
I have one of the Breville- Barista Express Coffee Machine at home for making coffee.
My usual preference from cafes is a latte.
Give the above two combinations, what would be your recommendations from the beans variety?
(Usually enjoy medium roast coffees and not dark roast, going well with full cream/lite milk).
I still have 15 days of coffee stock remaining and wondering what is the last date that I can order to take advantage of the current promotion.
    Cheers

  • +1

I have ordered many times over many years. Usually great but last time I ordered one of the bags (out of 4) appeared to be stale (I had opened not long after receiving the order). I sent a message through the Manna Beans website twice and never received a response. Good deal if all 4 bags are fresh, not worth it if only 3 out of 4 are fresh.

    • I have recently not received any reply or confirmation that my beans had been sent via Auspost. I will be checking if my beans are stale. Do the bags have the roast date on them?

    • @JBTY All coffees that we ship are fresh roasted so there should never be any stale coffee. Please shoot me an email at [email protected] if you would like to look into your order for you. Coffees stay fresh for around 4 weeks so if they are drunk outside of this window then even though they can still be enjoyed, they wouldn't be considered fresh. Did you drink them all within the 4 week window and what made you think that 1 bag was stale?

Happy to resolve any issues or questions by email :) Apologies if we didn't receive the web message that you sent. I'll need to check the website contact page.

      • Not to be rude but the last few months is the first time in more than two years that i have re-engaged with your business as I have been supporting my local roaster. Maybe I am an anomaly but previously I have received great customer service from your business but this time it has been non-existent.

As above I am not the only person who has had issues and not received a response by communicating through your web site. Also when ordering I put a note with my PayPal which at a minimum receiving a 'sorry, that's not possible' would show my request was even considered- it not being fulfilled isn't an issue at all. And finally from the time I paid (I did Paypal payment, not through your page) there was no note back saying the order was received or would be dispatched X or anything, just an auto AusPost notification because I have an account - so I feel I have no relationship with your brand through the interaction and that's the reason I ordered in this instance, through brand loyalty to Manna rather than another roaster.

I say this just as feedback, not as a sledge or anything. I'm sure you're all flat out running your business and not knowing the cost of acquisition for your customers but I feel like customer retention isn't a consideration - which is weird in such a competitive marketplace. In my opinion your point of difference has been your customer service and your personalities and without feeling that in my purchases I feel there's no incentive not to try other brands.

Don't mind me, this is just a rant from an idiot so take it or leave it. Peace!

        • Thanks, I hadn't seen this comment from previous deal. I take onboard what you said and agree that there are times(especially recently) where we have been quite busy getting coffee out to people and perhaps a little less proactive interacting on Ozbargain. We are running on less staff at the moment and have been affected by the current situation like most. There was also an issue with the contact page of our website for a short while but will always respond to and encourage any issues feedback or requests emailed to either [email protected] or [email protected]

We do of course value our regular customers and strive to give good service. With these cheaper Ozbargain deals, they are only viable because we can roast the same coffees in bigger batches and streamline the service. Because of this, although we always try to accommodate individual requests that are outside of the deal listing, unfortunately it is too labour intensive to always reply to these requests and negotiate coffee changes on an individual basis. This is why we ecourage notes to be left and say that we will fulfil if possible but can't make promises.

It is becoming harder and harder to offer these deals at the same price point as shipping costs have increased 30-50% and coffee prices have also consistently increased. We don't use just cheaper commercial coffees but work with the farmers more directly and all coffees are specialty grade 84 points upwards.

To keep the deals possible at this pricepoint we don't always have time to reply to all Paypal notes making requests outside of the deals offerings.
We do offer this service though, along with dedictaed small bactch roasted coffees from our standard website listings for people that want a more customised and personal service.

I hope you understand and I do apologise that you felt this way. I also take onboard your comments. Hope you have a great week πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

  • Any deal on Ethiopian blends or single origin?
Really enjoying the Brazilian blends but they are only good with milk coffees , at least for my taste. Generally I buy Ethiopian blends from st Ali for long blacks, what would you recommend for black coffees ?

    • +1

I feel you, been a big fan of anything from the Sidamo region for years and prefer African over South American beans. I never mind paying a premium either.

      • Likewise. PreCovid I use to buy the Ethipioan house blend from Patricias and keep that as well, that's the best I found but too expensive with 15-17 bucks for 200g.

  • +2

Suggestion: @mannabeans would you consider rewording the title a bit as your deals don't come up when someone searches for 'coffee'. Covering both coffee/coffees keywords should make this easier to find.

    • Thanks for the feedback, I will make sure I cover that off on the next deal :)

  • Can't start my day without a cup of coffee made from Manna beans! Hope you guys haven't been affected by the covid madness.

  • No rhyme or reason to AusPost deliveries…

I ordered my beans on the 11th and they arrived on the 18th. I live approx. 20k from Manna Beans.

I ordered a part from Victoria on Monday night (18th) and it arrived this morning (20th)!

Ordered this deal last Tuesday night and had it, along with my new aeropress, by Friday morning and I'm in Vic. Great service and coffee tastes great. Thanks for the free express post! Will be buying again. Thanks Manna Beans

  • Alright I'm down to my last 200g or so of my Fonzie Abbott beans, so I've jumped on this deal. Hope it comes soon!
    Thanks guys!
