The teriyaki is alright. Jack links is a pretty soft/sweet jerky though.

    Tasting notes - https://docs.google.com/document/d/15uuajFHfTkBu8tzfJIT5WB-x…

Note that these are tiny bags, smaller than supermarket size. Not great value.

It's sugared plastic. Those tasting notes were far too complimentary for something that doesn't taste or feel anything like an animal product.

      • Jack's is what everyone seems to try before finding real jerky, so it's a taste note from a point in time.

  • Cheers this is usually like $3.50+ a bag at Woolworths

    • +1

Woolies sell the 50g bags? This is a 25g bag which is tiny.

      • +1

Yeah was just about to say. I have cancelled my order. If this was 50g bag I would have got a couple

You’re much better off getting Wagyu jerky from Costco same price for approx 250g bag…much better quality elsewhere.

    • Are the Wagyu jerky Made in New Zealand?

  • +2

You can get 50g bags at woolworths for $2.27 once every few months (usually $4.55). So not a great deal.

I guess they are price matching woolworths current price ($3.50 for 50g). https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/296241

  • The jacks links traditional biltong is my go to! Delicious!!

  • +2

the aldi ones taste much better than this imo. They're firmer, juicer and much more flavor.

    • +2

I second this. Also, the Aldi ones have very few carbs and sugar (3 g & 2 g respectively per 100 g bags), unlike Jack Links jerky that's full of sugar and carbs. I go for the 100 g Biltong jerky from Aldi.

      • I will give the Aldi ones a go then. How much are they?

        • +1

The bigger ones (100 g) are $6.99, which is 4x the size of these 25 g bags, which makes exactly the same price as this deal. Here you have 10 x 25 g = 250 g for $17.50, which makes 100 g $7. But with the Aldi ones you have the advantage of less sugar and carbs, if you wanna avoid that stuff.

  • Is this one of those rubber-like jerkies?

    • +2

Yup! Bought some of them when they were on specials from Coles a couple of months ago and they were bad, and sweet (lots of sugar in them).

      • Definately a plastic taste. Some of the local butchers make it. Huge difference in taste and consistency.

  • Can't understand why so tiny pack?

    • that's what happens when it's cold.

  • +1

Anyone know of any biltong special lately?

    • +1

Both Jim’s jerky and Biltong.com.au have specials this weekend . Much better jerky/biltong than this bag of leather belt squares.

  • The original flavour is on sale too. 10x25g
