  • I know there is a limit of 5 active services with kogan, does anyone know if we can formally disconnect an existing service to be within the 5 active services?

    • Where does it say 5 active services?

    • Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. But I don't believe it's Kogan who has the five active prepaid services limit; it's part of the ID checking rules for all telcos.

      https://www.acma.gov.au/acmas-rules-id-checks-prepaid-mobile…

      • "pba" Correct. But Kogan does have a 5 sim/service limit for sims/numbers activated by same person/name/account using that same credit card. Personally experienced this myself when the sims were free some time ago.

"jes" Also in answer to your question, yes, you can call Kogan to get an old/unneeded number/service cancelled before the date that Kogan cuts you off ( 30-60 days after credit expires ). I did this before lock down rules, so not sure how you would go now calling them, or if they serve via Live Chat.

        • …. If you’d still like to proceed with the cancellation and you are not taking your number with you to a new provider, please contact the Kogan Mobile Customer Care online here.

It's just a webform. Which is pretty poor.

  • does anyone have the catch link? $4.90 for one month or $14.90 for three months?
    Thanks

    • +2

They're both no longer available as far as I know

      • thank you

  • Is this the cheapest month/monthly option? Looking for something to get me by for a couple of months before the new iphones launch.

    • If you need only 30 days then I don't think you'll get much cheaper than this. Make sure you turn off the automatic recharge or port out within the 30 days. But if you need more than 30 days and you want to keep the same number then it looks like the second 30 days will be $49.90, which will probably not be the cheapest option for a couple of months.

If you do need a couple of months then you may be better off using this Kogan Mobile deal for one month and this Catch Connect deal for the other month. Be aware that the Catch deal expires on July 22 and needs to be activated within 30 days of purchase, so you might want to go with that one first.

      • I think to be safe - as I may need 2-3 months I'll go with the Kogan 90 day $14.90 plan (20GB data per 30 days). Thanks for your help!

  • Ported into Kogan using a sim received from this deal however I get a notification "Sim not provisioned for voice" upon turning on the phone and cannot use data, or make/receive calls or sms.

I've tried cleaning the sim, restarting the phone multiple times, even tried with a second kogan sim with no luck.

I pop in my Telstra sim and it works fine. Anyone else with similar issues?

    • I had the same issue but with porting to catch connect not kogan. called customer service (using another phone) and they had to trigger something on their end and it worked instantly. perhaps try calling kogan customer service?

  • Just wanted to check if I get 2 now (2 separate orders) and activate 2nd later but before it expires on 31/12/20, all should be good?

I have 1 that's close to 60 days expired, then a 2nd just expired (under 30 days), from the last 2 promos, are there any port ins promo (other telco's) atm?, I've looked a bit here & haven't found any yet, unless I missed it.

So trying to decide to cancel them or wait out.
Shame Catch drop their matching plan.

  • Bring back the cashrewards on this pls TA

  • Does anyone know if there are wifi dongles or modems on special regularly that will take one of these sims?

The Vodafone $10 wingle/dongle from Australia post is sold out in my area, If anyone in the Brisbane area got one of these but doesn't need it, I'd love to buy it off you.

  • Gee, this is ending soon. What will we get next?

    • +1

      Its been extended.

The expiry date for buying the SIMs is 31/01/22. The vouchers have to be used by 28/02/22.

      • A good surprise. I had bought an extra two just in case, but looks like I will just need to activate earlier.

        • Why, you have more than a year to activate.

          • @bargainparker: I panic bought some that expire 31/12/2020.

            Ironically today it's also $1 off. ;-(

            • @Joe Teo: You should be fine until 31/01/2022 as it has been extended, though I am not 100%. Technically since it is the same deal it should.

  • $4.90 Free SIM card included YET on checkout charges $2 for sim CAN NOT remove (have extra sims)

    • Order one Sim at a time

    • +2

I've noticed the $2 for the SIM now too. However when you proceed to the checkout the cost of the SIM reduces down to $0 before you're asked to pay

      • Thanks for pointing this out.

I wasn’t going to order until I saw your comment.

  • Does anyone who buys these regularly receive their Cashrewards cashback ok? Would you mind sharing how? I use a different email address but after entering other details like name/address/license I get a 'welcome back' message and no cashback.

  • I've read online that these SIMs should only be used for phones. If you place it into a 4G modem, would you come across any issues?

Thinking of jumping aboard this ship. Thanks in advance!

    • Works fine in 4G modem

    • No it's 100% false. I use these for internet in a pocket wifi modem tethered via wifi or a USB cable to my laptop and phone.

Optus otoh does say something like it in their t&cs. But that's probably more because some of their plans come with services like sport, online radio, etc that have unmetered (free) data. (Optus can't guarantee their system will recognise data as unmetered if you put their SIM into a modem then use those services on another device over wifi.) Plus they don't want to employ staff to get every customer's unmetered data working. So it's just easier to say: "Our SIMs are only to be used in a phone."
