[QLD] 23% off Usage & Supply + 15c Solar FIT @ Origin Solar

670

Solar boost 12 mth plan. Just signed up. Was not advertised online - just offered over the phone when shopping around. Switched from another supplier.

23% off usage and daily supply charges (currently 24.9c & $1.16 Pre discount). Plus 15c Solar feed in tarrif. Pic of plan pricing from contract attached

May be better than other Origin deal on Ozbargain offering 20c FIT but no discounts on supply if I read it right.

Update with more details from other posters (thanks all): call 1800 557 700 to ask for the deal. If the customer service rep does not know about it ask to speak to retention team. Some have been told it is a June special for switching from other suppliers. Looks like the 23% discount is available for non solar customers too.

Andrew is amazing!!!!!!! He honoured the $50 cash back!!!

  • They also do discounts to nbn plans ! Weird enough. $60 for 50/20 unlimited he offered.

  • I just rang through to Origin and got the deal, but they wouldn't do the $50 discount (coming from another provider).

The rates are also dropping on the 1st July. New rates are:
    23.93c/kwh
    $1.11 daily supply charge.
15c solar FIT stays as is.

Called 1800063616 today and got "Raj". Gave me the 23% and 15c fit straight away.

Was offered 50/20 NBN for $70.

    Thanks greatly to the OP.

    • Were you an existing origin customer?

      • Yes I was

  • Called 1800 557 700 and got Anna - she was great and easy to deal with. 23% off elec no fuss. No $50 credit though. Can't complain since it's better than what AGL were offering me anyway.

  • I switched from Alinta to this plan, Alinta called me today and said this Origin plan is capped. I looked in Origin Energy site and it described as follows,
"About the Origin Solar Boost feed-in tariff cap: Your total feed-in tariff will be capped at 8 kWh per day. We calculate the cap each billing period by multiplying the number of days in your billing period by 8 kWh. After you reach that cap, you'll receive our standard retailer feed-in tariff available at the time"

    • I double checked the contract from Origin. It doesn’t mention anything about the cap.

  • Called 1800557700 and got transferred to a guy who refused to offer me 23% discount (existing customer but no Solar or gas, 16% standard discount). I told him that my friend who had got the discount by calling them and he said the retention team would ONLY contact me if I am going to change to another supplier, not in advance. What should I do? Should I keep calling them and talk to another person who may offer it?

  • Called and the rep signed me on this deal only to be told it's not available if you're getting the 44c govt fit. Has anyone with the 44c fit been able to successfully sign up to this deal?

    • Yes I signed up and have the 44c + 7c (51c) solar fit . They offered the 23% discount but no increased solar fit . I am still getting the 51c solar fit.

  • have anyone seen the drop in new solar tariffs both Origin and AGL ?

    • So lucky to have this plan with 15c solar + 23% off for 12 months. The new solar tariffs is only 9c.

Under this Energy Plan you will receive the following benefits for 12 months from the Supply Start Date:
      • the feed-in tariff set out in the Details section for any electricity your solar PV system exports to the grid
      • a guaranteed discount on the usage and supply

      • too late for me it seems

        • This deal expired?

          • @Garrettau: nope, Im with AGL and was planning to move to Origin to get this. I don't think there is a value with the new tariffs

            • @wudsapp: Not sure if 15c is still available. You can call Andrew

  • Thanks OP. Just signup for this deal and got the $50 credit without issue. Siince i only have a 1.5kw system, it works out better then the other offer thats give 20c FIT. The good thing about this offer is there is no lockin contact so i can change to the 20C FIT offer , whenever i find a decent 6.6kw solar price…

  • I don't have solar and my 21% off Origin Energy plan is coming off next month or so. While researching, I found ReAmped Energy Handshake plan, which has $0.1554 /kWh and $1.1216 /day. The usage rate is significantly cheaper than this offer even with 23% off. I am thinking of switching to ReAmped Energy instead, but not sure if it is too good to be true. Any thoughts?

    • +1

3c cheaper than origin but daily charge 30c more.

  • So this 23% off supply and usage is available for existing customers ( electricity only) ?

    • No - I just got it today as a new customer. The deal is still active.

      • are you able to send me the contract? i also need to know the control load rates

        • Are controlled load rates tariff 31 and 33 etc? If so, it's not on my contract as I have a peak only supply. I never needed tariff 31/33 as when I built 10 years ago, I had to have an energy efficient hot water system which lead me to a heat pump (heat pumps aren't really meant to be run on tariff 31/33 but in QLD and warmer climates, you can probably get away with it).
