  • any good suggestion(s) for EV plans without solar panels guys?

      agl, ovo.

This powershop deal has an EV plan that might be of interest https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/867116?page=1#comment

"Charge your EV day or night with our EV Saver plans
Receive $100 credit off your first electricity bill when you sign up for an EV plan.*

Sign up for EV Day Saver and you'll also receive no electricity usage cost for charging your EV between midday and 2pm.**

Sign up for EV Night Saver and enjoy a super off-peak rate for charging between midnight and 4am.

      *T&Cs apply.
**Daily supply and controlled load charges still apply and subject to our Fair Use Policy."

      • I reckon OVO EV plan is more generous. Free 11 AM - 2 PM AND 8c from 12 AM - 6 AM. Powershop makes you choose either day OR night plan.

      • thank you

I recently switched to red qantas plan and received bonus qantas points. Thinking i should switch to agl for velocity points.

  • I was already on Agl. Switched my plan to Agl-velocity that turned out to be a bit cheaper unit energy wise and also got me a 6k bonus(3k gas and 3k electricity)

From the T&Cs if you've taken advantage of any AGL Velocity offers in last 12 months you wouldn't qualify?

    1. Eligible Customers will only receive the Velocity Points described in the Velocity Points Table in respect of each qualifying AGL Single Fuel at their supply address, once in any 12-month period.

Dumb question - if I have taken advantage from previous AGL credit offer, do you know if I will still be eligible?

The page doesn't mention any eligibility issue if recently taken advantage of AGL credit offer. I was with AGL in September but might port back in before the promo end date in late-Nov..

      • I reckon you'd be fine if it was just an AGL credit offer that didn't come with any Velocity bonus points… I can't find anything in the T&Cs that says otherwise..

        • Many thanks!

  • I'm already on AGL, but can't see the 'AGL Velocity offer' show up when I try to change. Anyone know the trick to getting it to show?

Does anyone know if I can get the VFF points credited to my own account, while the energy account is signed under my parent's name?

    • Don't think so. The energy account holder has to be a member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer Program according to their T&Cs.

      1. Eligible Customers must be a member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer Program (referred to as “Velocity") prior to signing-up or switching to an Eligible AGL Plan.

      2. During signing-up or switching to an Eligible AGL Plan, Eligible Customers must provide details of their Velocity membership (including first name, last name and membership number) to be eligible. This information will be used to validate your Velocity Membership and eligibility.

      3. Eligible Customer’s Velocity membership and Eligible AGL Plan must continue to be active at the date Velocity Points are to be allocated to receive any Velocity Points.

      4. Where an Eligible Customer no longer holds their Velocity membership, they acknowledge that they will no longer be able to earn Velocity Points and that their Velocity Points earned through the AGL Velocity Offer will be forfeited.

A work-around is to set up Velocity Family Pooling; up to 2 adults and 4 children living at the same address can pool their points and status to a single Velocity account.

So in your case, one of your parents receive the Velocity points (free to create an account if they don't have one) and nominate you to send the points to under Family Pooling.

If you already have Family Pooling set up with someone else, you can change it over until you receive the AGL points.

      • +1

        That's a great idea. Thanks.

        • +1

Should also mention there is a Family Points Transfer option as well between family members living at the same address, an alternative if you already have Family Pooling set up and you don't want to change it.

          • +1

@bengal tiger: Heads up though that doing transfers online has been disabled for awhile now and you gotta call them up to do it. Might not be resumed any time soon cos they've been having major issues with hacked accounts recently.

  • Can you do this + the netflix plan?

I think the 12mth requirement in the title is obscuring the better deal of 30k points in 45 days

    • I just got the email from Velocity and it says there's also $100 sign up credit.

      • Weird my email only said $50.

      • I haven't received an email. Perhaps it's targeted with different amounts.

  • I'm already a member of AGL - does anyone know if my partner can sign up under her name using our address, and then I close the account in my name. Would she be considered a new AGL customer?

  • I think you get charged 40 bucks or so for a new connection (not sure if there's a disconnection charge too)

  • Not sure if it's just me, but when clicking through from the Velocity page to the AGL offer page, it drops from 20k for electricity down to 10k.

    • Looks like it's been updated now. Major crisis averted.

  • If you have solar do you have to manually notify the company each time you transfer to a new one?

  • Excellent. I'll be moving soon, hopefully, before this expires.

  • Already with AGL but both gas & elec are cheaper than what I'm on currently, just 1c less solar FIT. What are 6k Velocity points worth?

    • $60

      • -1

No. 10,000 points worth about $25 or less. 6k probably worth around $13

  • "bulk of those points credited within just 45 days of your energy supply commencing."

What exactly is the bulk amount

    • The exact amount of points varies depending on what you sign up for:

      Electricity – 20,000 Velocity points.
      Gas – 10,000 Velocity points.
Electricity and gas – 30,000 Velocity points.

  • Anyone had experience with switching provider with the current government energu bill relief? Would it switch over automatically? I am currently on Red Energy.

    • Yes whoever you are with at the time will apply the credit

  • Looking back I signed up to this deal in April, probably too risky to try again now with a different Velocity number I think

  • On terms and conditions, says "This plan is available to residential customers in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia, where AGL operates, as part of an ongoing market contract with a 12-month energy plan period." Does this mean I am locked in with them at the current rate for 12 months?

  • Can I combine this with any other offer?
    E.g. wattever ?

    • Yeah, I wonder if it can be used in conjunction with the $100 sign up credit. It mentions it on the landing page for the Velocity offer, so it seems like you can.

  • Can anyone confirm if its from the date of the application, or from when the electricity/gas is actually supplied?

    • For anyone wondering, just callled AGL and they said eligibility is based on the sign up date. Yay.
