  • Can confirm that if you have any remaining credit when you switch gets refunded to you by EFT.
You receive an email a few weeks after leaving stating you have credit Powershop wants to refund to you and to call them.

    • What's EFT?
Are you talking about signup credit or ref credit?

        Electronic funds transfer
All types of credit is the same credit in their eyes

          Good to hear otherwise

@wisb0: Yeah when I read that I scoffed. However, it is possible the representative on the phone could have erroneously refunded me

I signed up to the previous Powershop $150 sign up offer and was not able to stack with a referral. It was one or the other.

This renewed deal's t&c also dosent exclude anyone from signing up again previously as well..

@txb: They probably put that there so people don't join and switch right away just to get transferred the bonuses.

  • Was going for this offer but on econnex I saw Engie was providing $400 credit (200 for electric and 200 for gas) I moved to that. Plus cashreward $112

    • I tried Engie but nothing happens…. What's wrong???

      • Engie welcome credit is tempting but compared to powershop, the rates seem higher? Unless u want to crunch out after credit exhausted.

        • Engie also have 10% discount on both tarrif and supply. Anyways I plan to move out once I use the credit.

          • @scyther: How do you get 10% discount?

            • @Bargain-er: electricity
Offer for Non NRMA Members only - 10% Guaranteed discount off ENGIE electricity usage and supply charges and a $200 Welcome Credit on first electricity bill.

  • Cashrewards now is offering $140 both electricity and gas, but I can't choose the electricity plan to the ev one. Is it tricky to change plans, esp while having the credit? Thanks

    • +1

Note for Cashrewards (Econnex) you need to stay with Powershop for minimum 75 days to get cashback. But for referrals you get the credit straight away.

      • Yeah not planning to churn out every 3 months. I like the ev day rate. Charge 12-2 for free.

  • Did calculations for nine different providers (electricity only; no solar; in regional NSW; obtained as best recommendations from CompareTheMarket and EnergyMadeEasy), and found that PowerShop sits on 4th place (where the highest place represents the cheapest plan). The calculations were done for a single tenant dwelling, based upon my own electricity consumption data collected over the past 11 months. Move in/out and debit card fees were part of the calculations. So, a good market survey is suggested before blindly signing up with PowerShop.

  • One Big Switch offer $50 ontop of the current offer from this deal. OP should update that so people know

    • That's worse than just using a referral which gives you $75 straight away (and another Ozbargainer). Or Cashrewards ($140) if you plan to stay longer.
I don't believe you can stack referral with One Big Switch.

      • Yeah you are correct, i did not take into account the referral bonus and cashback

  • Rates are not bad. But i will need to wait until i use my AGL credit. Does anyone know how long this offer is valid for? We are losing our VIC Premium feed in tariff (of 60 cents) so that will be big hit regardless.

  • I closed my account with poweshop last year in july, am i eligible? Its not clear from their t/c. Thank you.

  • In Vic, you cannot join with only gas FYI.

  • How long do these deals usually last? I'm asking because I still have $100 credit left from the previous EA switch. Not sure if I should switch now as I just got my bill about a month ago…

  • tried signing up but the system thinks I'm a returning user. I have no memory of ever joining, I've never heard of this mob before.
forget password didn't return anything either…has anyone else experienced this?

    • Possible they've got the wrong service address. Did you try searching by NMI instead?

      • +1

I got the address wrong, and I also had to use an alternative email. I hope my credit will be tracked. thanks for your help!

  • Does anyone know if I can refer another property of mine in different state to Powershop and still receive referral bonus? Both accounts are under same name. Hope someone can confirm that they have done the same and receive the referral bonus. Thanks

  • out of curiosity, how long did you have to wait for gas to be connected? been more than 14 business days and still nothing on my end

    • Been more than a month and gas still isn't connected. Electricity was quick

    • it depends on your gas meter reading date, it can take up to 4 months per read

      • Do you know why this process takes so long?

        • For electricity when you have a smart meter, the meter reading is daily so they know how much to charge when they switch.
For gas it require a manual read which they need to know how much to charge you and it is by the meter read which happens every 80 to 100 days.

  • Hi guys, have some questions.

I've switched my electric and gas to Powershop last month. Now I got my first bill of $120, and after $150 sign up credit + $75 VIC relief payment, the balance is $75 in credit.

Does that mean the $150 applied for first bill only? Would the balance ($150 - $120 = $30) be carried out for the next bill or not?

If I chunk to another electricity provider now, what happen to my credit? would I receive a refund?

    Thank you

  • I keep getting "Something went wrong submitting your details, please try again."
