Read that as $34 for a 1TB SSD, got excited.

Thanks for the edit! You've disappointed a lot less people 😂

    • +9

      Lol, sorry about that!

    • +1

      Same.

    • +27

You're assuming all retailers sell at the same price. Nothing wrong with title.

      • +7

My bad sorry. Mod please delete my post. Apologies.

        • Your sorry is just fine.

  • +2

FYI, Samsung said three claims per account.

    • And only 1 of each product.
i.e. the max of 3 claims have to be all different products.

      • i.e. the max of 3 claims have to be all different products.

May be they told you that but I have 3 x 1TB under the same account.

I am also wondering what will happen if more than 3 claims per account?

        • Thats what the terms & conditions say (which is the same as previous & they enforced it on me last time) - I guess they are a bit more flexible this time.

  • +3

Prices are already inflated Due to Covid-19

    • +2

Then this cashback makes it the new normal.

  • -3

    Price in the title please

Just bought the 500 GB 860 Evo from centrecom yesterday :( how unlucky

    • Yeah, picked up a 1TB QVO recently for $159 from centrecom, now it's $136 after rebate. Boo.

Might pick up another one as a steam drive though, that's getting back to the best of 2019 pricing.

    • Just bought 2x1Tb 860 Evo last week :(

  • If I don't care about speed, should I even bother with these deals? I just need an extra m.2 for my laptop.

    • +1

I wouldn't, though Samsung has good reliability reputation too but more then likely just go cheapest.

Did they mean wednesday 10th june?

    • Apparently WFH syndrome…

    • +3

Yeah I just confirmed over chat with Samsung, redemptions start Wednesday 10 June, will update thanks.

  • edit: beaten by above

  • +1

    how about portable SSD?

    • No T5,T6,T7 included.

Samsung always supercede/sunset products on the quiet.

  • +4

Still waiting cashback from last year purchase

    • +4

Yeah. I hate this as it seems to be an unproductive/counter-productive marketing exercise. Companies (Samsung in this case) offer campaign incentives to promote their brands but then they knit picked and make it very hard for the consumer to earn it. Do they want to be remembered as being mean and dodgy?

      • +2

For sure, heaps of people dont recieve their refund. Now I will need to spend time between my busy job hours to chase up these empty promises.

    • +1

You should email them, I have multiple claim and I think I have received them all.

      • I will try to email them as all my details were verified correctly and payments still in my account as 'pending'. Thanks!

        • You have it in your account but pending so that is a difference story, did you check with your bank?

          • @superforever: Sorry I worded it wrongly, status is 'validation complete' but no refund yet.

    • +1

Received them last year with no issues.

  • Hmmm…tempted…1TB QVO from CentreCom for $136 after rebate or wait?

    • Do you need it now…or not?

  • Which one is recommended for general files (not programs)?

  • +1

Took me 3months to get my cashback in the previous deal, but only because I blasted them on Facebook. Just a warning they are notoriously slow as others have noted.

    • At least you got rebate. They stuffed me around so long (not) sorting out my bank details, the time period for rebates had expired.

      • +2

Sorry to hear that mate, but shouldn't they honour it as long as there's proof of purchase and date of rebate submitted?

        • Probably if I badgered & pushed them enough but with no resolve after 8 emails, 3 phone calls and Facebook posting; frankly, I couldn't be bothered.
I'm sure we've all missed out on a saving by buying something just before or after an event.

      • Blast them on Facebook, it's what I had to do.

    • I got mine in 2 and a half weeks. Sounds like there's a few people that are delayed or had issues but majority seem to to get it within the 4 week period.

  • I need something to store my photos. Should I buy some of these SSDs or the HDDs? I'm having about 500GB only

    • +3

      HDD for archival storage.

SSDs require to be powered intermittently.

    • Onedrive (or other cloud service)

    • +3

If just for strage purpose, hdd is better

    • +1

      Multiple HDDs.

At least 3 copies on 3 separate disks if you don't want to lose your photos.

  • Man this sort of deal is good but so frustrating at the same time. It just shows how much of a fat profit margin Samsung have on their products which makes me grrrr :P

  • +6

Where can I find details on this upcoming 20% off ebay sale? I’d like to know the participating stores.

    • Me too!

    • Yes, how did you know that there was an upcoming sale of 20% off?????

  • Damn, just bought one. Although it was comparatively cheap and free delv. but still… grrr

  • +1

Just to double-check. In order to claim the cashback, we have to buy the drive from a retailer (like Centrecom) and then reach out to Samsung with a proof of receipt and ask for cashback, am I right?

    • +2

Yes that's correct, purchase any drive from the retailers above, then go to the linked Samsung website and there will be a claim form available (from tomorrow). From there you'll fill out your details and receipt and they'll provide the cashback.

  • Dang thought it was $34 for 1TB.

  • This offer has derailed my build (in a good way). Was initially planning on a 1TB WD SN550 (the cheapest nvme that has good review) for OS and games and a 1TB MX500 for photos, documents and stuff I back up on an external drive that I keep in my office locker.

Now, I'm tempted to downgrade the WD SN550 to a 500GB for OS and just grab a 1TB 860 EVO (for data) and a 1TB QVO (for games).
The current rig has about 350gb in the OS drive from games and programs, and 600gb in the photo and data HDD.

Is that a good plan? Or is it just cheaper to get 3 QVO? Lol!

  • Bah, had just bought the Crucial MX500 and it's already dispatched. Oh well.

  • +2

Hate cash back BS waste of life

  • I can't find any instructions about how to claim cash back on that webpage. The terms and conditions link leads to a broken pdf. Am I missing something?

    • +2

Nothing on site yet as the redemptions start tomorrow, they should put a claim form on site tomorrow which can be filled out. They're pretty backwards with these promotions and take a bit of time to figure it all out.

      • I see; thanks for pointing that out :-).

  • All of the 860 products appear to be SATA III, only the 870 ones are NVMe, right?

    • 870? You mean 970 that's NVME

  • +1

FYI,just remember to use residential addresses for the claim.

  • +1

For those wondering about the 1TB 860 Evo. BudgetPC and Kraken Power PC(website sucks) both have it for $199 + delivery or pick up. Both are based in vic.

Alternatively, OnlineCentre has it for $205 with free shipping and free pickup (Sydney).

    • OnlineCentre price is now $199 + shipping (not free) or free pickup from Haymarket.
Centrecom have it for $206 with free shipping.

  • anyone got the link to the claim form? that webpage just lists models and resellers?

    • +2

Redemption starts from tomorrow. So it's not live yet.

      • +1

        ahh ok

  • Would eBay 20% off sale be eligible?

    • Is there a 20% ebay sale happening?

  • -3

    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/online-computer

Now I am starting to think that Ozbargain is part of this network scam too?

  • Need a good price on the 1TB Evo Plus m.2! Currently $309 at Online Centre, hoping someone comes out with a sub-300 price..so after cashback $250-$260 will be enough for me to bite haha

  • Redemption is not working… The serial number on the disk is 14 characters long and the redemption form expects it to be 15 characters.

    • -1

Did you bother to contact them about it..?

      • Yes. They said email to the promotions team.

        • The promotion only started a few hours ago and runs for a month and a half, they'll fix it soon I'm sure. Hardly worth a neg unless you don't get your money at all in the end.

          • @doweyy: Alright. I will remove the neg. Nothing against you personally, just venting anger at Samsung.

            • @RSmith: I understand, give it some time as they didn't even have the claim form ready at 9am. They're known for being average at these promos but just reach out to them and I'm sure they'll fix it soon.

    • +3

i had same issue on a previous redemption and contacted their promotion team, there is 15 characters on the actual SSD (14 on the box) or you can view the 15 characters via the Magician software

      • Cheers. I used hwinfo to get the last character. I have been successfully able to lodge the claim.

      • Can confirm above is correct — you'll need to check the actual serial which is listed on the product itself, though I also got the same issue with it saying my Serial Number is incorrect regardless. I'll update here when I get a response from their Promo team

        • I get the incorrect SN issue also and im using the 15 number SN, so frustrating. Have sent email but no reply yet.

      • +1

Yep, just ripped out my SSD again from the laptop to grab the 15 character SN. It was basically the 14 on the box, with an "F" at the end.

How fitting, I said "F" when I had to go look for the screw driver to again dismantle to pull out the SSD!

Edit: This 15 character SN was submitted successfully.

      • I am typing in the 15 character on the actual SSD including the letter at the end and it says invalid serial number. Any ideas what to do next?

        • Send them an email with a picture of your invoice and picture of the Serial Number on the SSD.

        • A lot of people have this problem, send them email and read through this thread.

  • +2

If I buy 2 do they have to be on separate invoices or can I submit the same invoice twice?

    • if 2 ssd is on same order, then same recepit….if u submit two orders, then 2 copies

  • +1

Just try to submit a claim with an existing Samsung account from the Shopping Express deal.

It kept saying invalid serial IMEI number.

    • Same here, bought from shopping express and it keeps saying invalid S/N number.

      • Me too

        • Don't tell me they are not Australia stock.

    • -1

Are you inputting 15 character SN?

      See above comments…

For whatever stupid reason, Samsung decided to drop off 1 character from the SN on the box, so it only shows 14 character. You need to grab it from the SSD itself!

      • +1

Of course we have, it said invalid serial number not format wrong.

        Did you try this time?

        • Oh my bad… I thought you were having the 14 character SN input issue.

I got my SSD from Centre Com and whacked in the 15 character SN and it submitted successfully.

          • @AnDyStYLe: Oh no, Shopping Express stock not local stock?

            I have emailed them.
