St.George Amplify Platinum Card 60K Qantas Points (Spend $2,000 in 3 Months) ($49 Annual Fee for 1st Year, $99 after)

1020

Not as good as ANZ finally coming back but still worth it for 60K points if you stack them together, it's still cheaper than getting the ANZ black with an annual fee of $150.

Hate it or love it, a card with points is a card with points.

Rates and fees
$49 annual card fee for the first year. ($99 thereafter)
0.5 point earned for every dollar spent on eligible purchases
19.74% p.a. low variable interest rate on purchases
21.49% p.a. variable cash advance rate
0% p.a. for 6 months on balance transfers requested at new card application. Rate then switches to variable cash advance rate.

Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

    • The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met.

I've almost reached 14 weeks. Called them and they said to check again in a couple of days then call back.

    • I would suggest calling them even if it's been less than 12 weeks.

I called and they said they could see an offer that ended on 2 June, but apparently weren't seeing this one. Said they will investigate and get back to me.

      So incredibly tedious.

What the heck, it still shows the offer in the link above and it says ends 30 Sep.
I hate having to follow up for points. Even worse when the bank supposedly can't see the offer.

Technically a different offer as the current webpage says "between 7th July 2020 and 30th September 2020", whereas the OP was "between 3rd June 2020 and 30th September 2020".

They weren't interested in any of the information I offered. But if they don't come to the party they won't hear the end of it. AFCA if necessary.

I hate having to follow up for points.

Another reminder of why we love banks. Wish I could get compensation for the phone call that took over 20 minutes.

          • @UrMumsOnlyFan:

They weren't interested in any of the information I offered.

what did you offer? do you have a screenshot?

            • @bohn: Yes, that's credit card 101.

But technically I only got as far as offering "evidence" because they weren't interested in hearing what evidence there was.

@UrMumsOnlyFan: A screenshot of a single visible page of the previous offer has the same URL as the current offer, and doesn't mention June.
If you took a full webpage capture of the entire page with the terms and conditions at the bottom it has the June date.

I will be contacting them about it, then asking that they put in a complaint to resolve it. This is necessary in order to lodge a complaint with the AFCA I believe.

                • @bohn: I was expecting that they either wouldn't respond or would respond unhelpfully, but surprisingly they said the points had been credited.

Will only be able to verify that around statement time.

                  • @UrMumsOnlyFan: That's good. I called them and they just said the points will be paid within 12 weeks.
I'm hoping it's on the next statement which is due in a few days.

                    • @bohn: Mine just got paid out before my 2nd statement is due to arrive sometime next week. Met the minimum spend in the first 2 weeks after getting the card.
Was surprised since I was expecting it long after the 3rd statement period judging by the comments here. Maybe they're getting more efficient?
