Comparing Windows to Mac essentially.
Comparing android to iOS actually.
:)
Comparing a mobile phone to a mobile phone.
:)
Yup. A bad comparison all around.
A tiny screen is enough for me not to buy it
You're essentially saying that because there is a Yaris with a Ferrari engine, all the other cars are not worth buying.
Best analogy yet!
Well the engine is an important component of a car…just like a CPU is important for a phone.
To me, price, long term OS updates, iOS stability and excellent local warranty are more important that a high res big screen, bigger battery, ability to install APKs and multiple back cameras. But, each to their own.
Apple? Excellent local warranty? They're easily accessible sure, but have a terrible track record of not only misdiagnosing problems, but then recommending that they purchase a new device instead.
I agree for $750, 5 years of updates, solid camera and to be able to walk into an apple store at anytime to get things fixed is ideal. Look at the comment below, someone who bought it and the sim didn't work, it's going to be a hassle now. For the average person, the iPhone SE2 is a no brainer, but the OnePlus 8 pro is a lot more fun
OnePlus are one of the best at long term OS updates and are usually at the top when it comes to security updates.
Probably spend more on new glasses squinting to look at such a small screen
I went from a Nexus 6 (6" which was consider huge when I brought it) to a iPhone SE 2016 4". Was an adjustment for sure, but now big phones seem silly to me…it's just what ever you get use to.
i wouldve thought the screen would be somewhat important on a phone…..
yes because people spend more time benchmarking their phones instead of actual uses like browsing the internet, watching youtube etc.
The OnePlus 8 is $748, for a similarly specced iPhone SE (128gb) you're looking at $829.
That coupled with the thought of using iOS for the next few years suddenly turns this into an extraordinary deal.
How do benchmark results translate into real world performance? Based on the way benchmarkers behave you'd think we're looking at alien technology. It's been the same song and dance since forever.
How long does it usually take for the delivery?
Speaking from recent purchase. Shipping was very quick. Within a few business days the Oneplus was delivered.
However, one problem. The one I received does not work with any Australian SIM. I've tried Optus, Telstra and Catch. All were not detected by the phone.
Version: IN2020
Whether I'm just unlucky with the phone I received, or there is something more to it with this particular version.
That seems like a pretty massive problem, can you return it ? This is the crap we have to deal with for grey imports.
Hi Homme, can you try this code in your dialer #801.
If you get an engineer code, their might a way to change the network configurations. Within the settings, you can then change network bands for it to work for Australian networks.
By the way, I have a OP7Pro, on Optus and have Volte and Vowifid it on the computer with the Advanced PDC Tool.
That's weird, I got an IN2020 from T Dimension and it works fine for the most part.
Just wondering if you had to pay import duty for this since it's over $1000?
Wonder why Oneplus decided to switch from having the same network bands on their Chinese and international models for their 7 series but not on these 8s.
Different modem maybe?
You can't directly communicate with them. So I've had to open a paypal dispute. So I guess we will see what happens there….
Even on their paypal seller account, the email address visible to me appears to be non existent. Tried to email them and receive a Failure Notice in return.
Why risk $1000 from overseas suppliers. Now jbhifi and others bring brands in and discount them. Not worth it i brought tcl plex half price and been happy and least it has local warranty and band28
Good luck getting any software updates with TCL… OnePlus appeal to a lot of users for OxygenOS, great specs and now slightly better pricing than Samsung flagships.
With Samsung you wait ages for software updates, only way you can get them faster is through custom roms. Went from Note 4 to OP6 and last year OP7Pro, receiving updates from OnePlus on a timely basis and there is a great modding community out there to boot. Great buy for this OP8Pro, good for those from Samsung S7 onwards looking to upgrade or even the iPhone peeps.
I've purchased 8 OnePlus phone over the years for myself and the family from overseas suppliers, never had a problem. Would much rather do that than buy discount trash phones like TCL that might be half the price and 5 times as painful to use.
Nooooooo. Why did oneplus go with the curved sides on the screen? Damnnn. That's a deal breaker for me. I can't stand it.
I am looking to buy OnePlus 8Pro 12GB/256GB Black IN2023 EU Model, which has both B28 for 4G and N78 for 5G in Australia. Chinese version is IN2020 which has N78 Band for 5G but lacks B28 for 4G. The international version (apparently for US & NA) is IN2025 which has B28 for 4G but lacks N78 for 5G. So only EU Model IN2023 ticks both the boxes.
I know 4G will work without B28 also, but if you are spending over $1,000 it is better to have fully functional device.
Any reliable source to purchase EU model please?
No band 28 .
