Good deal since Boost Mobile $150 80GB Plan Is Finishing on 30 June
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/540192

  • Can we buy and keep the recharge now and use it later?

    • +4

This is not a recharge, make sure you get the recharge voucher not the sim (in the post).

      • I learnt this the hard way a few months ago. This is how I found out Boost customer service people are quiet rude

        • +1

          quiet rude

at least they weren't loud rude.

  • +1

    I still don't get it..
Why this kind deal always sold out fast..

What part is better than belong?

    • Which plan specifically are you comparing it to?

      • +4

I think they are referring to using option 2 in this deal & staying for 12 months.

So as a comparison it would cost $110 with 91GB when the $40 sim is on special for $20.
Also if you manage to get a referral it will give both accounts $20 credit.

Plus you don't have to pay a large amount upfront, so if you use up the data too soon you haven't blown your dosh. Just top up or port out & cancel your account.

        • +1

Belong's customer service is the pits. Stay away if possible. Unable to activate my SIM but no call centre or online chat. Need to raise a support request to communicate and keep getting different staff. Kept getting the run around and refused to accept that their website wont accept jpg files. Finally got it activated after lodging a formal complaint and going to the Telco Ombudsman.

          • @naruto128: What's the alternative though? They are all the pits.

Don't believe me, then have a read of this Telstra deal. At least I have never been overcharged by Belong. This is the 1st time I have gone on a plan with Telstra & it will be the last. About to contact the Telco Ombudsman myself over this mess!

    • +6

Boost gets full Telstra network unlike Belong

      • +7

Some people need it for international calls. Boost is about the only one remaining after belong stopped international calls.

        • Exactly!
I'd pay $270 for international calls to my country alone!

    • I know what u talking about.

But Not everyone wants to plan belong’s complicated deal.

      People prefer straight forward stuff.

      • In what way is it complicated? You simply buy the $40 starter pack when it's on special, activate (enter referral code) on the $40 plan then after the 1st billing date move to the $10 plan and you're done.

        • +1

Yeah, but how do you get additional credit if don't want to port back and forth, you can buy data but expiry date must be extended by recharge voucher which is never on sale

          • +2

@lgacb08: You can either move back up to the $40 plan for a month which will give you an extra 40GB or buy a 2nd starter pack & activate it in a family members name then gift the 80GB to yourself. This basically pays for itself with the $20 referral credit.

Make sure you actually use the 2nd sim so you can't be accused of gaining the system.

  • +5

Have applied code for recharge voucher and site says applied but no discount given. Anyone else getting same issue?

    • +1

      Same here

      • Code isn’t working for me too. Looks like it’s only available for new sim starter packs but unavailable on recharge…OP can you please confirm?

        • +1

Hmm yeah, now it doesn't seem to be working.
I tested the code and it appeared to work before I posted.

          I'll edit the post now.

          Sorry about that!

    • Yeah, I'm getting the same.

    • Looks like its only for the new customers only.
The recharge pages say new and dont list the discount like the other pages.
My guess it was placed on their site by accdient for a short period. Oh well.

    • same here

  • nice.

  • +7

    Hi Everyone,
1 The discount is only applied for starter kits, not for recharge vouchers.
2 The current Boost $150 plan is expiring on 30/6. If you are going to activate your service before 30/6, this is a good deal, go for it. If you are not going to activate the service before 30/6, I suggest you to wait as the plan may vary.

    • Can you please update the description because it is misleading

      • +1

        My bad, all done!

      • +3

If I could, I won't jump out my bed to make the comment.

        • Thanks..had to ask! :D

    • +2

Can we please get a deal on recharge? Thanks.

    • Hmm any ideas what the plan will change to?

      • No idea what the new plan will look like. Have to wait and see.

    • Are you saying the plans will get better?
I'm expiring in 2 weeks so would have to top on for 28 days to wait and see new plans

      • +1

All we know is the current $150 plan ends 30/6. No idea what the new plan will look like.

    • What are they replacing $150 plan with??

    • +1

Are you saying all $150 packs are rendered useless, unless activated before 30/6 even though expiry dates are till next year?

      • All starter kits and recharge vouchers can be redeemed before its expiry date as long as Boost is in business. After 30/6 there could be a new $150 plan I guess.

  • Would officework match something with promo codes?

    • No

    • Nope. Tried and tested.

    • +2

No but they will price beat this down to $128.25 with free delivery.

      • Dont waste you time as usual Officeworks doesnt match these deals as @product code "is different".

        • I didn't waste my time, they did it for me.

          • +2

@CVonC: Thats the real problem with OW, they are so bloody inconsistent with price beats. I had tried earlier this morning and they said, they used to but dont do it now. Was your PB today?

            • @RockyRaccoon:

              Was your PB today?

Nah 14/05. The (oldish) lady I got on the phone took ages to figure out that the shipping was free even though I was suggesting to her numerous times to add to cart and put a dummy address in. So I guess my time was wasted a bit ><

              • @CVonC: Looks like online is a waste of time, seems more have success with direct in store PB, but for a few bucks its not worth driving to the store to test it out. 😀

  • Thank god.. My old starter kit ran out so have had to move over to Optus which has to be the worst reception ever. As soon as I go indoors.. 0 bars :(

    • -2

      Boost isn't much better.

      • I get really lousy Telstra reception at home. I've ported from telechoice to boost, but thinking I should have gone to a different carrier.

But then again, I seem to make and receive calls okay, and I don't need data when I'm at home. Maybe 1 bar is all I need??

  • +1

FYI I received a text from Boost Mobile a few days ago that from 1 July 2020, $150 and $100 recharge vouchers will no longer be sold. These recharge values are still available but you can only recharge via the app, through their website or dial #111#.

  • Hi Guys, i ported to Boost on saturday from optus. The port apparently worked and the sim shows boost with 4g on other devices like samsung/ older iphones, but the sim isnt working on my iphone xs max. just says telstra-wifi calling while on wifi, I've tried airplane mode, restarting, reset network settings, reseating the sim card.

called boost and they said its all fine. but when i put an optus sim in my phone, it finds the network no issues. any suggestions?

edit: oops, fyi, i bought my phone outright and its unlocked.

    • What is shown when wifi is off?

      • SOS

    • I think porting takes effect on weekdays or certain times on weekend?

    • -1

Have you tried any other device?

      • Have you tried any other sim in your xs max?

        • besides an optus sim, no. I just went to the telstra store today and tried a telstra sim, same network issue, just SOS and nothing. they recommended me taking my phone to an authorised apple retailer. i'm thinking just for kicks i'm gonna factory reset my iphone as a final test and see what happens. if not i'll go to the authorised reseller.

    • +2

Ez fix, settings -general- reset -reset network setting. By doing that, u also delete the wifi password as well so keep it in mind.

      • hi, i've done this like 10 times, didnt work.

        • so when there is no wifi, is there any signal ?. Otherwise just call them and send the new sim. Telstra wifi calling is normal when the signal is weak it will automatically change to wifi. Even airplane mode, it's still telstra wifi calling. I don't know what exactly your problem is ? Or you can turn off wifi calling in setting ?

P/s: just read your comment, maybe you need to factory reset your phone :(

  • +1

I’m using it and I must say it’s no Telstra… I get the bars but even if it’s full it doesn’t “connect”.

    Same for my wife.

Use an iPhone X and Xr.

    Just my half a cent.

    • -1

Huh? Never heard of such a thing. Call customer care they’ll sort you out.

  • Can you port in from Aldimobile?

    • +2

Yes.. I did that in March.

  • 2Catch $14.95 ($4.95 cashback)+2Kogan $14.95 (~$0.90 Cashback) = Best Yearly Plan.

I hate hearing the argument that, oh I just pay extra so I dont have to go through the the hassle of porting in and out.

Porting does not take much time at all usually, you only do it once every three month.

    • Can you do that under the same email address? thank you

      • +1

Yes of course. You are porting approx every 90 days.

      • I have been doing it since I was 15. Same email address.

    • +2

Yes it's an awesome sim slut plan for those that don't need the full Telstra network.
Catch is Optus & Kogan is Voda.

    • +1

Wait which deals exactly are you referring to need links and data info if possible before I can make a decision because knowing me I will forget to port out after 3 months and wonder why I have no plan after awhile lol.

    • +2

      No international calls though.

Different people, different needs. But still a great deal.

By the way, I think you'll save more with the Belong 4-month option.

    • +1

My argument is that I don't want to go through the the hassle of porting in and out. :)
My last port took close to a month. Don't need that kind of crap in my life.
It'd take a good deal to make me port again.

If that's how you want to live your life, that's great for you. I'll tolerate your argument despite shaking my head a little.

      • I told someone to get on the boost yearly plan, and they told me what you just said, and I did what you just did. and I wasn't suggesting they port, they didn't want to go through the hassle of recharging

  • Be careful - if your port goes well, then great, but if there's any problem there is no way to communicate with anyone at boost to fix it. Been stuck in limbo for ages.

    • Nope could easily call them on their 1800 number twice this weekend to fix port issue. 5 min wait max.

    • My wife and I waited weeks to port to Boost. I saw online that heaps of people were in same boat, so we waited patiently. Then they incorrectly thought my wife was porting from prepaid and assumed her details must have been incorrect at previous carrier, causing heaps of confusion. It wasn't until someone provided an email address that I was able to clearly provide all the information they needed to do both ports, and it all happened in a day.

  • Any good plans prepaid or postpaid with 20gb or more data per month? Only need Australia calls and text no international needed.

    • As mentioned above = Catch and Kogan 90 day plans are 20GB per month.

      • so $60 for 20gb per month for 12 months and unlimited calls and text to Australian mobiles and landlines?

        • Yeah, pretty much

          • @thriftysach: So basically save $75 but have to remember to port to the next one 4 times a year or about $19 savings for maybe 30-60 minutes max work per season.. hmm not bad I guess if you can remember it and be bothered to do it.

I might try it next time I have to recharge earlyish next year might be a fun nice challenge.

It is that or try one of the new 24 month or longer Kogan prepaids.. set and forget is very tempting if a side income opportunity turns up for example that time saved or peace of mind could get you over to the next big money making idea or event I guess.

Could go either way.. best of both worlds I guess.

Thanks though for your help and input always appreciated.

            • @AlienC: Keeping track of the dates is a bit annoying. Just recently my catch 90days was expiring in 2 days and I hadnt even ordered the kogan. So had to order it and get the $2 sim from 7/11.

If it was kogan expiring and had to go to catch, then I would have been without a proper sim for 2-3days.

              • +1

@thriftysach: Yeah this is my fear and probably why I am not doing this.

If I lose the ability to call and text for few days it could cost me my job or worse.

So the savings is not worth it for that scary lack of peace of mind.

I will make some savings elsewhere but for my mobile I need that 24/7 around the clock peace of mind the longer the better that is why I am advocating for longer prepaid mobile plans and always trying to make some noise about it or talk about it because sometimes they listen when you say it enough times like with anything if you don't speak up people won't hear you or read your mind.

Honestly I would pay a premium for a 5 year prepaid mobile plan.. for me I need at least 10-15gb minimum per month but I aim for 20gb per month just in case for peace of mind as some months could be more than others and a few times I have come close to the 20gb mark so it is just right enough for me.

I could go the lower route and save some money but when I need it most that will cause more pain than the money saved etc yada yada.

Anyways I will keep it in mind maybe if I decide to get a second number or something for whatever use case scenario that way if it runs out it is no big deal really.

Thanks @thriftysach you have been helpful.

                • @AlienC: Buy a dual sim phone. That will open up more options and make it cheaper than whatever you're on now.

For example you can use this plan for calls & sms so your main number isn't being moved around, then buy a 2nd sim for data like the Catch & Kogan 90 day 60GB sims. This works out to be $10 per month or less.

                  • @Arthur Dunger: Is there any risk of using data though on the dodo plan getting massive surprise bill shock?

Also I think my second sim slot is being used by my micro sd card aka storage but I will have to check on that and I didn't know you could use two sims at the same time simultaneously I thought you had to switch back and forth which for me would be a nuisance and make the phone a bit unusable if I had to choose between data or calls and text.

                    • @AlienC: Best to ask questions about the Dodo plan on the Dodo deal post. I haven't read the fine print.

Depends on how old your dual sim phone is. I'm pretty sure most recent models are able to work at the same time. I have my Xiaomi Mi 9T set with sim 1 for calls, sim 2 for data.

  • +2

Can you port from Telstra post paid?

    • +1

Yes, didn't have any issues but had to activate via phone (5 min wait).

  • Im currently on Belong, how's the coverage? Will it be the same as both on Telstra's network?

    • +2

I have belong telstra and boost. network coverage is the same across the 3. beats optus and voda for most places I go. but belong seems to have a cap on 4g speeds <100mbit. telstra and boost are pretty much identical and pushes 1-500mbit they also have volte whereas belong does not.

  • I don't even see an add to cart button. Maybe sold out?
