    Not that great a deal.

Virgin has a similar plan (2gb, $400, unlimited text, you're on the optus network aren't you?) for $49 a month with 5 months half price. Your visa card think of it as 1 month free.

    Virgin total price: $1053.50
    Yours: $1080-$50 card= $1030

    not that great.

edit: just had a look your on vodaphone

  • just going crazy before iphone5 coming out……..

    • and their own phones which will include an NFC chip.

It's a good time to be out of contract :)
Think I'll hang on TPG for a bit and see what happens .

    • Everybody hold on and waiting at the moment.

      • +1

why? Carbon tax or the fuel price or iphone5?

      • Why? for what?

    • TPG's Super Value medium is $18/month (or $15 if you have their adsl), that makes the phone $648 (or $720) over 24 months, not the best deal at all.

      • Also TPG will have some kind of phone with their plan next month.

      • You're neglecting the $50 visa.
        CJ: (24 * 45) - 50 = 1030

        TPG: 24 * 18 = 432

        1030 - 432 = $598 over 24 months.

        • True I forgot about the $50 visa, with TPG you can use the entire $550 credit on international calls and voicemail retrieval is free, also you get $3/month bundle discount.

edit: just realised CJ has unlimited standard national text.

        • True, but my perception of TPG's ADSL is equivalent to the public perception of Vodafone's mobile network :)

Try hosting even like a WC3 game on TPG, it is often absolutely woeful.

I never had any problem with Vodafone or TPG where I live, hence no comments on either, but let's focus on the deal itself.

      • Does TPG value can call International, if not, it worth nothing to me.

My 10yr old Nokia 3330 on Telstra would be more usable than this thing on 3 or VodaFail.

    • +2

Justification? A family member recently had their work mobile moved from Telstra to Vodafone and gets better reception and faster speeds at home than previously. It doesn't work as well in lifts etc, but is pretty good in the 850mhz zones in the eastern suburbs where he lives/works.

The VodaFail jokes are getting old…

      • I think by getting upset about it you're maintaining the incentive…

  • Why not get this instead? http://tinyurl.com/5sxxl4d
If you don't need more than 500MB/month.
You also get unlimited free calls.

    • 500MB/month? I tried my ipad with Optus SIM and did some browsing and some google maps, already used me 100MB in one day.

      • +1

that may have something to do with the way that optus counts downloads now (in 10 megabyte blocks, yes, thats right, 10 megabytes, compared to TPG's 10kb blocks (as an example)

        • May be but ipad own data usage said 75MB. So I think tablet use more because of it use a full browser.

    • 500MB/month is pretty light on.

That pretty much cuts out the option of tethering it to a laptop or tablet. 1 gig/month extra and still a pretty generous call allowance is fine. Using it less avoids tumours :)

      • They give you 2GB of data… (1.5GB + 500MB bonus)

i was beginning to worry…. no samsung 'bargain' posted in last 24h.

    phew :(.

(ps its not a bargain if its on sale every day folks)

  • My Voda $49 Cap plan gives me 1.5GB/month but I only use around 400MB/month on my mobile. I browse internet and check my emails few times a day.
500MB will be more than enough for me. I need a plan with more call credit. Hence $45 infinity plan would be better for me. It's great that we have a choice and the companies have different plans.

  • Can you beat $810 with unlimited?

  • Galaxy S II, that's not a deal yet, you need to hit much harder given the iPhone 4S is coming next week.

    • and nexus 3 the week after that hopefully.

    • I wonder what will be wrong with the iPhone 4.
