they also have the non-3d one (model: THP50U30) for 799$.

You can get the non 3D in 42" version for $585 at 2ndsworld

    • point being? a second hand, non 3d version which is smaller is cheaper. No surprise there.

I wish people would not neg just because they disagree with an opinion.

i believe his point was to state what he stated. and that is that you can get the non 3d 42" for 585 2nd hand.
        pretty sure that's quite clear.

i dont see him saying its a better deal, its just a statement of fact which could be beneficial to some.

        • He doesn't actually state second hand, he said from the store 2nds World. Could be a damaged box, mark on the TV, refurb, ex display… or could be nothing at all wrong with it.

He may be talking about this one http://www.2ndsworld.com.au/product/panasonic-viera-42-106cm…

Only 42" Panasonic plasma I could see on the site, it's $495, and an old model.

I wouldn't buy an ex display model though, if that's what it is. I would rather get the newer generation model from Myer, but it's something to consider for people who only want to pay half the price.

          But it's 2nds… world…

      • It is not second hand - I enquired last week and 2nds world is the official distributor of Panasonic seconds. The ones they had in stock all only had box damage. Anyway, looks like they have been sold as they only have 2010 models on their website now. No doubt they will get some more in soon.

        • Ah, some of them actually have scratches right on the screen (according to whirlpool forums). They don't warranty them as new or perfect.

  • can't find information about the TV in Australia other than Myer,
is anyone know if Panasonic TXPUT50 is a similar model in UK,
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TX-P-50-127cm-black/dp/B00…

    • Your link is TX model

      TX-P50UT30E

    • How is colour on this compared with 6 or 8 bit LCDs? Looks like no glasses included.

$ symbols go before numbers! #petpeeve

in France it drove me crazy.

also the use of , instead of .

      example 7,99 instead of 7.99

    Full HD, 1920 x 1080
    3 HDMI, 1 side, 2 rear
    LAN Port
    Digital Audio Out
    Weight 30.5Kg (ouch)
    Power Consumption 330W

    etc etc

    • thank you, but 330w power usage kills my trip to Myer.

      • The top of the line VT series 50" is 430w.

      • If this is high, then what is the standard for a 50 inch plasma? I tried looking this up at other websites (eg. samsung) but can't find anything.

  • UT30? What?!

There is U30 which is 2D, and ST30 which is 3D..

    • did you click on my link?

      • Yes, the site states "THP50UT30" yet as far as I know (I was working in TVs until about a fortnight ago…) there is no UT30.

        • Site says it's NEW! (sorry, my NEW is in monochrome. Ozbargain is a black and white world)

  • I wonder if this applies
    http://catalogues.myer.com.au/offer/plasma-televisions/plasm…

and also the 200+ myers points and

discounted myer gift card from card limbo was 5 % off when checked last time

Good deal though i paid 3650 in 2008 for full hd 50" pana
very tempting if can bring it down to 750 mark after discounts

    • That 15% won't apply, I don't think this counts as a clearance TV, just a regular sale.

    • If you buy from Myer - worth signing up for Myer One (the loyalty program, not the credit card) "receive 2 Shopping Credits for every dollar you spend at Myer, and when you've earned 2000 Shopping Credits we'll send you a $20 MYER one Gift Card" - This TV gives you 1998 points. By something else for $1 (haha— good luck with that) - or maybe a DVD or BlueRay, and you'll get $20 for something next time, gift to give away or whatever. (unfortuantley it's not taken off your purchace price on the day)

  • In today's JBHiFi catalogue:

50" full hd 3D plasma: $1196. Their catalogue says this is a new release.
    50" full hd 3D NEO plasma: $1996.

I don't know what NEO offers, but probably worth looking at to compare.

You can always price match at JBHiFi if you decide on the first one.

    • Neo refers to a type of Plasma display/tube.. I thought all new Panny's had it, but apparently not. It's USP is lower power draw, and I'm guessing other minor improvements also.

very interested in the non 3d one for $800.
Anyone think 3d is worth the extra $200.

    • Do you like 3D movies?
Are you willing to pay $200 dollars to watch them on your TV?
Why pay more on what someone else thinks

    • Given that all the 3D transmitters have been removed from every transmission site by every broadcaster Australia wide, I'd have to say it's not.

      • But there's 3D games as well if you've got a PS3. Of course limited suply like movies, but another reason to consider it.

  • how is this TV compare to LG 50PV250 @goodguys?
    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/mileend/store/ProductDisplay?c…

    • That is not a 3D set.

  • Anyone knows of a good bluray player offer to go with this?
