Detective Pikachu for $10 is a bargain!

    • $8 on Apple TV

UHD BluRay is much higher bitrate, and has lossless audio. Believe it or not, people (like me) can tell the difference and care about it.

And the disc can’t be taken away from you.

If there was some catastrophic licensing issue and Apple decided to rescind the video content, your library item(s) would disappear.

          I am the same

I prefer the better quaility (both video & Audio) and I can watch it anytime I want Internet or no internet

Agreed but then I think some movies don’t necessarily benefit as much from the higher fidelity of physical.

Eg kids movies on iTunes 4K is fine given I value convenience and quick loading (my internet speed is decent) and I actually own detective pikachu on iTunes, but I own the various David Attenborough documentaries on UHD Bluray (thanks OzBargain).

Don't be fooled into thinking your saving $20+ for a 4k, UHD Blu-ray title when it's not the case. Despicable Me 3 was not $39.95 before. They've only shown that price to sway people into thinking that $11.40 is great when it is actually always around that price. I buy weekly from Amazon with prime, and they've only started including these ridiculous initial prices (for some of these titles) to get rid of titles that weren't selling.

The deal a couple of weeks ago where some of these films were like $7 was a great one. Then again, some of these prices are good like the Detective Pikachu one compared to other retailers.

Camelx3 helps, for example Despicable Me 3

      • I was looking for that, but I kept seeing another version on Camel. Thanks for pointing it out! I think it's just good for people to see that the initial price Amazon shows for some films ($54.95 for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is the initial price they're showing right now!), isn't in fact the case.

    • I buy most of my 4K movies from Amazon when they're $10-15. The RRP of $35-40 is what they are at places like JB, etc so it's not exactly made up. I never buy movies for that price though and they quickly drop down to sub $20. That recent deal where movies were $7 was a bit of an oddity though. It only lasted for a couple of hours, it wasn't advertised and it was on a Friday night IIRC. I missed it because it was so random.

      • Yeah you're right and I do the same thing, but when looking specifically at Amazon, some of these films have never been listed at that RRP that stores like JB list it at, so it's just a little thing that others can keep an eye on so they don't think that per Amazons pricing, they're saving more than they actually are.

I think they've just realised that by placing an RRP that their films never actually sold for (even upon release), they can get those consumers whose eyes light up at a large saving. It's smart on Amazons part, but thought I'd just point it out as I look through their movie department section every day and again, some of these are still good deals.

Most of the titles in that $7 deal I already have, but there were some crazy prices. $7 I think it was for BR 2049 and Baby Driver 4k UHD Blu-ray. I paid like $27 when they first released. I don't regret it though. Let's hope we get more like that!
