  • wow, just want one for walking.

    • You can get cheap treadmill from Kogan or Ebay for a few hundreds. But you do get what you paid for when it come to treadmills

      • Yeah just want one for walking like the Xiaomi.

  • Would be nice to get a solid commercial treadmill on a good discount.. I find the consumer stuff even at this price still a bit meh overall.

    • GraysOnline occasionally has gym closure sales.

  • I really want the NordicTrack x22i but just can't justify the price.

Will probably wait a couple of years and try and get one second hand.

Wait for the Gumtree Covid19 fitness gear sale.

      • Ha I wish. They're not being sold here as yet, due for release next month.

good treadmills are coming up on gumtree all the time.
If you want a shnazzy screen then it's harder to find - most of the ones I saw (and the one I bought) were commercial ones that are a few years old.
You go have a look at it - then spend 80-200 on air tasker to have it delivered and BAM - you have a commercial treadmill in your garage for well under a grand!

    • How do you know what a good treadmill is? I'm happy to buy 2nd hand, but have no idea where to even begin my research.

Start by search by good/known brands to begin with. Other factors to consider is size/space/storage/fold able. Leaving aside the bells and whistles (programs/connectivity etc) - Best to run on it and get a feel for it. Generally looking for sturdiness and one that doesn't shake all that much when you run on it.

I bought a treadmill (second hand from a friend) which was good and served its purpose. I could tell the difference when I ran on other treadmills (local gym, gyms in resorts, others). If I was a buy a treadmill now, I would look for sturdiness mostly than anything - makes it a more comfortable run. With gyms closed, I just go run/walk outside now. A bit cold and wet at times but i have learnt to "enjoy" it still.

It can become boring running on treadmills - a lot of people buy it and it goes unused mostly. Good luck with your search.

stick to the ones they use in gyms
        - life fitness
        - nordic track - here is an example of a great deal

I bought my life fitness T9i for 500 on gumtree

        • Thanks. I don't even know the good brands so will start with Nordic track and life fitness.
But might have to wait until the corona fitness equipment craze dies down..

  • If you find a 'Norflex' treadmill, be warned there is ZERO useful customer support! I had a problem where my safety tag kept saying it was removed. They told me to open up the treadmill and put a strong magnet on the back of the switch to fix it… two months later it kept failing. I eventually had to strip the entire display from the unit, open it up and… the cord had disconnected from the motherboard. I'm an ex-comp tech so wasn't TOO difficult for me but it would of killed the average user.

Upon telling the importer that if they had this issue pop up again, it was likely sabotage from the factory. Their response was to attempt to send myself a new hall sensor! They couldn't understand at all what the issue nor what the fix was.

Awesome treadmill and the price I paid was insane! Can't really fault it otherwise! It's not perfect but it was darn cheap for what was included and how well it functions considering.

    • I've also heard good things about 'lifespan' treadmills which are pretty cheap overall. Might be waiting until after covid to get it though.

Doesn't have the bells & whistles, warranty or aftersales support of a nordictrack though.

      • I'd buy it before the next COVID wave hits

  • Aldi treadmills are awesome. And best to wait till they reduce it to half price because no one buys them. But you got to wait as they sell them towards the end of the year

  • Be aware that the software on the 10 inch android tablet that's used on these and other brands like Pro-form has issues.

My daughter bought a Pro-form 600i in the last few weeks and it required a factory reset straight out of the box, before it would work anything like it's supposes to. The software is very flakey.

Search Youtube and there's quite a few videos on their problems and how you might be able to fix them

Highly recommend the NordicTrack treadmill range. I picked one up on facebook marketplace recently (2 years old, barely used). Goes up to 22km/h (more than enough!). Excellent cushioning support so your knees don't cop a terrible pounding like on the footpath.
