  • Pains me to see this so dirt cheap.

    • I predict the price will keep getting lower due to lack of bites on the hook.

    • good price but unfortunate about the camo :/

      • At this price though, I wouldn't really care. Just own it.

        • are they really that good? heard good things about them but never had the chance to listen to a pair

  • I'm keen to try these however I'm really happy with my Sennheiser Momentum 3's at the moment and think the MW60's would be lacking in comparison. Have any of you owned both of these and have an opinion?

    • How would they be lacking? I owned momentum 2, and had the mw60 for a few days at work. IMO and for what I value, the mw60 trumps the momentums in every field. Of course the momentums are mainly for mainstream sound preference with a bug emphasis on bass, and IMO a lack of soul. I only tried the momentum 3 at a store.

      • Momentum 3 is feature packed.
        Has customisable noise cancelling,
Has transparent hearing mode, this amplifies your surroundings so you can hear train announcements or a conversation in the office (opposite of noise cancelling).
Has auto power off when you fold them up for put away (saves battery).
Pauses music/video when you lift an ear cup off your ear or remove headphones, resumes when you put them back on.
Has Alexa voice assistant built in.
Has Tile BLE tracking built in so you can track them if they're misplaced or lost.

Seriously, I could go on - they're top notch. I use all of the above features.

I have other headphones and the Momentums leave them all behind feature wise and also sound quality.

For comparison my other bluetooth headphones are Bose QC35II, Sennheiser HD4.50, Definitive Technology Symphony One. I also have wired headphones (Sennheiser, Focal) but that's unrelated.

        • If it's all you need, then why you looking? My h9i has most of that and it's much older. The thing to keep in mind with these premium sets over the mid rangers, is build materials and quality. Sound wise since you like exaggerated bass, perhaps these cans are not for your music taste. If you liked your previous sets, seems like you won't like the signatures from these sets. I gave up the momentum 2 for h9i, lost out a little on features and comfort, but sound signature is pure bliss. The only set I like more are these, the mw60. I mostly just listen to music, so don't need all the extra features. I mean my h9i has removable battery and cups, but I don't use that haha.

          • @onlinepred: Upgrading is half the fun, there's always something better to be found and get excited about.
I actually prefer a neutral sound signature which is part of the reason why I dislike my Bose QC35II.
The Momentum 3 is a good compromise between features and reasonable sound quality, the bass isn't as heavily EQ'd as the Bose or Sony. I also factor comfort into the equation.
If I want to do some critical listening then I'd rather use wired open backs in a quiet room at home.
I use the Bluetooth headphones for when I'm out and about or at work and I'm usually multi tasking so critical listening isn't the main priority, functionality plays a large factor too. Cheers.

            • @MeagerDollarBucks: Oh man I hate a neutral sound! I have my dt990 for critical listening, and even that isn't neutral. It would sound lifeless haha. I listen to live music, so the exaggerated v of momentums was good for pop etc, but for my live music it sounded pretty average. Very specific use case.

              • @onlinepred: No, that's a misconception.
Neutral means they don’t change the sound, they reproduce it as it is.
Neutral doesn’t mean things are turned down or up to become “flat”.

Neutral headphones are like pure water. If you put orange juice powder in it, it will taste like orange juice. EQ'd headphones are like apple juice. If you put orange juice powder in apple juice, it will taste like apple-orange juice.

When I listen to music that is mastered correctly it sounds superb.
If your music sounds lifeless well that means you need to listen to better music lol.

                • @MeagerDollarBucks: I listen to radiohead masters as my headphone testers. Not even band members listen to their own music through neutral cans, the engineers do and that's it. The point of flat cans is that you hear each freq equally, for me that's boring haha.

                  • @onlinepred: Yeah, I can see why you feel that way. It's not for everyone. Thanks for your sharing your point of view.

                    • @MeagerDollarBucks: Ah here you go, rtings profiled the momentum wireless 3 to have +2 db of bass compared to a balanced profile, not even neutral. So the momentum wireless 3 continues the exagerated bass profile of momentums/Sennhesier budget range. Most consumer sets (who prefer a bass emphasis) is between 1.5-2.5. These are on the very high end of exagerated bass.

"However, the response is over our target curve, which results in a bit of excess thump. Some people may like this, especially if you listen to bass-heavy music."

Perhaps you don't like neutral sound after all haha ;-)

Also looking at the peaks and dips, it is quite over EQ'd with very big dips and peaks. Very V shaped. Even my Hyper X Cloud 2 I use for gaming/movies is only at +1db bass and I think it's overly bassy haha.

                      • @onlinepred: Yeah, I'm aware. Like I previously wrote "The Momentum 3 is a good compromise between features and reasonable sound quality, the bass isn't as heavily EQ'd as the Bose or Sony."

Momentum 3 has reasonable sound quality with heavily EQ'd bass.
I don't really like the sound signature of any of my bluetooth headphones but it's all about compromise.

If only I could find Bluetooth headphones with the features of the Momentum 3 but the sound signature of my Focal Clear. That'd be close to what I'm looking for.

                        • @MeagerDollarBucks: Yea seems to be a compromise of sound quality for features. Sucks. I mean my old H9i's do most of what you said, except I use Google assistant instead of Alexa.
                          H9i has:
-cups fold sideways so you can rest it around your neck, while momentum 3 only folds up for travelling only.
                          -auto pauses.
                          -transparency mode.
-also has ANC but not adjustable.
                          -auto off.
                          -does not have tile tracking.
-made of actual quality materials, rather than cheaper materials used on Momentum 3
                          -solid steel band
                          -replaceable battery
                          -replaceable pads
                          -assistant integration via phone
                          -usb C audio while charging

So I wouldn't say that momentum 3 is feature packed, more that it just matches features that most premium cans have had for years, and reuses the same drivers, pads that they use on their budget HD4.x series. I guess that if you are willing to forgo tile tracking, you could gain significantly better sound, but since you must lose your headphones all the time I can see the value of it ;-)

  • Thanks OP, this sounds perfect for what I'm looking for. Bought a pair

  • 2 pairs of the wired MH40 in Greene St are available for $182.51 each for those with either dreadlocks, interest, or both.

    • Nice find for those willing to go with wired.

  • Gone back up in price now?
    Edit: my bad, wrong colour

    • You are correct. Link is to the right colour it has gone back up.

  • +1

Kudos for using real leather. So much shit "plastic leather" out there.

    • It's crazy how much of a difference it makes, not only in terms of things like vocals, but also passive isolation.

      • It's probably my biggest complaints about QCIIs and the like - sweaty pads. Oooh err.
