@juns: yep, confused alright. Have a good think about it. If you want an example, buy a 13 y/o boy a bowie knife for xmas. He will love it, but its a horrible present from the buyers perspective, unless said buyer is a moron.

Mate I'm a certified apple hater, but these actually outperform the competition for once in everything except price, so that makes them an ideal present if it's in budget.
I would get the Beoplay HX over these any day

I'm still a firm believer in Sony XM3 supremacy, my pair has lasted since release, even in their sticky-taped condition, but you have to admit their is a place for the Airpod Max, especially for Apple engrained users.
Also want to note this isn't the latest version as it doesn't have the USB C charger. Not too much of a deal breaker but a bit annoying if you've mostly left lightning cable charging behind.
But the Lightning version is the only one that can used with a cord, so that might be useful to someone. (Apple inexplicably left off the ability to use the new ones over a cord.)
Point of the post was to use the link to get JB to price match, which they do.

Doubtful you’ll get price match at Jb, OW etc as they’d be carrying the USBC version.
JB matched instantly when I asked their live chat, which I why I made the post. Cheapest I can find anywhere for the new and pink ones (with local pickup and warranty.

USB-C is the only difference on the new model apparently. lightning upgraded to USB-C. they didn't even update the chip for "apple things" which a lot of people on Airpods subreddit were mad about.

Wife in my case, so I see your point but she's only getting an iPhone (got her the 16 pro, broke the bank) nothing else from that over priced ecosystem.
They're not for me, but why not post them? There's plenty of things posted on OzBargain that aren't for me, like $3k GPUs or Android phones, but someone might want them and might want to save some money when buying them. Why begrudge that? It's not your money.

You are not wrong. But it's an overpriced piece of tech and we should enlighten our fellow OzBargainers to better tech/deals when we can.
I would agree for almost any other apple product but in this case it's a premium, not over priced product. There's much better value options but there's very few that test better at this stage.
