  • Am looking for a decent winter quilt - anyone own this particular one and any idea on when the backorder will be fulfilled?

    • +1

It is 100% Australia wool, light and warm. I have one with me and very satisfy with it.

I just got the 700gsm king size wool blanket from here.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aus-Made-100-Merino-Down-Wool-Qu…

      Arrived today and im amazed.

      Aussie made.

I ordered the 500gsm version of this from Linen Dreams for my son. I've never tried a wool quilt before and I wasn't sure what to expect - it's fantastic!

        • Yep. Same seller.

Im glad I went 700. Its still thin, but damn warm.

And the lanolin smell is absolutely tiny.

      • Whats GSM? Im looking to buy one but have no idea what GSM is

        • +1

          Grams per square meter.

300 or so is usually just like a couch blanket.

500 is a good winter blanket.

          700 is a warm blanket.

I was worried 700 would be too much but God im in heaven right now!

          • @MasterScythe: I think I’m going to pull the trigger on this but do you think the 700gsm will be too hot in the summer or is it perfect all year round? Tempted on the 500gsm but after reading your comment might pull the trigger on 700.

            • @LEGEND27: Depends on where you live (night time temps) and how cold you get when sleeping.
I live in Canberra and would suggest 700 is way too hot in summer. I prefer to sleep with just a sheet on hot summer nights.

            • @LEGEND27: ANY blanket is too hot for summer IMO; I use a sheet.
I sleep cold; so it'll be using this for 3 out of 4 seasons.
I think for people who don't usually need extra blankets, 500 would be fine.
If you EVER get cold sleeping though, the 700 was amazing. best night sleep ever last night. wow.

      • Doesn't ship to WA :(

  • Does it have the corner ties?

  • Do purchases find this heavy. I’m after warmth but as little weight as possible

    • Can't speak for the above one, but the one from Linen Dreams we're discussing above, is EXTREMELY LIGHT, I got a King size 700GSM and it's shockingly light.

    • I purchased a silk doona in a super king from this store
      https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/potterbarn/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1…

Incredibly warm and super light. GF and dog loves it. I find it a bit warm the cotton super king cover for it was heavier than the doona.

      • Yep, I find the same.

Oddly, I recommend the LOWEST possible thread count for a wool doona cover, lets the wool still breathe like it's meant to.

  • Hey, it's-a-me!
