$50 off the rrp. Good little unit

When a vacuum can only do so much, it’s time to break out the Bissell Auto Spot Cleaner. This carpet and upholstery washer functions just like a professional carpet cleaner, without the hassle of having to store one! Being compact and easy to use, you’ll never hesitate to grab it for a quick clean whenever a spill or mess occurs. Even traditional messy areas such as around a baby seat, or muddy footprints in a four-wheel drive pose no problem for the Bissell. In the box alongside the unit you’ll find three handy attachments. A 2-in-1 crevice tool, a 3-in-1 tool for flat, curved and corner areas, and the larger 15cm tough stain tool. With these, you’ll find far more uses than just the car! Use it on the couch, the rug, or spot stains on carpets. With a tank full of fresh warm water, and some Bissell spot and stain remover – just spray the solution on and suck the stains right out of the surface. An inbuilt heater keeps your clean water at the perfect temperature. Dirty water is deposited in the other tank, and you won’t believe how mucky it can get!For the really tough stains, a splash of oxy boost and a gentle scrubbing with the built-in brush will make all the difference. In the end, every part of the unit packs away onto itself. Delightfully compact and ready for action the next time there’s a mess.

  • No stock in my 10 nearest stores (NW Sydney)

  • Thanks, I've been on the lookout for these! Managed to find local stock on SC

  • They are a good machine. I got one 6 months ago and it is really easy to keep your car seats looking like new.

Pleased with mine. Had for about a year now, very handy for cleaning your fabric furniture and any spots inside too

Anyone know the difference between this one and the purple one on the Bissell website? Is the purple one just the latest version? You can get the purple one from Good Guys Commercial for $175.

    https://www.bissellshop.com.au/products/spotclean

    • +1

FYI this is the older 3698F version where as the Good Guys Commercial one for $175 is the newer 36984. The only obvious difference is a weight difference of 3.84kg in the new one vs 5.9kg in the old one.

      https://bissell.com.au/products/spotclean/

      • Ok silly question how do I get this one how do you sign up

        • You can sign up through various memberships. I'm a member of Sunsuper and you get free membership though that. You don't have to have an ABN.

      • Yeah how does one go about getting an account for goodguys commercial?

Do you need an ABN or something?

      • +2

@carleast The one you posted the link to is the old 3698F. The one at the Supercheap link is the current model 4720K and it's the same 3.8kg weight as the 36894. Pretty sure it's almost impossible to get the heavier older one at any stores any more.

Link to model relevant to OP here https://bissell.com.au/products/spotclean-auto/

Anyway, the only difference between the Supercheap one and the purple good guys one (both current models) is the attachments and the colour. With you purple one you get 2 tools, with the auto one you get 3.

The tools are different. From memory (I could be wrong) With the good guys purple model you get a 6" tool and a 3" tool. With the auto model you get a 6" tool, upholstery tool and crevice tool.

If you were to pay RRP for the extra tools, I would say the SCA product at $179 would still come out better value than the $175 GG version.

Crappy machine , the reservoir doesn’t sit tight and leaks, threw it as a junk

    • That seems to contradict most of the reviews you find online. Maybe it was a defect with yours?

    • +5

Why didn't you throw it as a refund or get them to throw you a new one under warranty?

      • Did that with Harvey. Same problem.. was so very angry that the dirty water leaked and burdened me with more work that I now have leather seats in my car and parquets in floors

        • +7

So this leaking cleaner got you so enraged that you sold your car and bought one with leather seats and ripped up the floor coverings in your house and laid parquetry? Whoah!

          • @rodericb: Correct, I don’t know about you but the smell of stinky 10 year old carpet for 3-4 days after it gets wet in the middle of winter is enough to turn a sane person insane. Yes gladly spent the 4k odd Dollars to rip the carpet out and lay flooring when I moved on from my rental, as for car it already has leather seats and I also opted for all weather mats so I don’t have to deal with machine such as this ;)

    • +2

I've had mine for about 3 or 4 months and use it almost daily to clean up baby spills around the house.

      No leaks at all.

I do use it under the advice of 'the detail geek' though and only use water in it. Maybe you left solution in it too long and the seal deteriorated? or it could have just been defective.

IMHO these machines are amazing, although I wouldn't want to tackle a big job with it like cleaning the carpet of a whole room…. might take a while and a few tanks haha.

      • +2

I think we got trolled by danish cookie

        • Seems like I’m the only unfortunate soul, was spending the time and effort to comment to save someone a heartache as I’ve been through

      • How do you rate it for cleaning baby spills out of the couch?

We're currently hiring a Woolies cleaner every couple of month just to deal with this :(

        • Surely worth investing in this then.

    • +1

It doesn't need to seal tight. It just needs to sit. If you put too much effort into it you force it on crooked. Just let the reservoir fall in place

  • +2

These things are the best, they're so useful. I have the old green machine version from Bissell and it's still doing a great job to this day. I get so many family and friends who ask to borrow it all the time.

  • +1

Just in time for Mother’s Day.

  • +2

I had a similar model that worked ok, but the suction was never fantastic - just left the carpets soggy. After a while the suction got even worse. I sent it back to Bissell, and they replaced the drainage tank, but couldn't fault it.

I think most of the "cleaning" action comes from you scrubbing with the bristles. You might be better off just buying a cheap wet and dry vac, spraying the stain with some warm soapy water, scrubbing and sucking it dry.

    • Absolutely agree that a wet and dry vacuum plus a good brush will do a better job but this unit is a space saver. I own both

    • Agreed! Light stains are probably fine. Anything more than that and you're wasting your time with it.

Tested it on a dirty couch and the majority of the work was just scrubbing with the actual brush. You can probably get the same result with the spot cleaner and a brush and then just putting it out to dry.

    • This is similar to my thoughts.

I've got the earlier version of this and had concluded that since it doesn't heat the water it's really just a fancy way to sell a small wet and dry vacuum with a spray attachment and some brushes.

To each their own though I guess. It's certainly convenient for really small jobs.

    • Hot water extraction machines would require immense suction and would have to somehow loop hot air through the pile to leave the carpet truly dry. The trick is to get that balance between cleaning solution, suction, thickness of pile and the environment to minimise the time required for evaporative drying. For heavily soiled items it's sometimes better to do the job two or three times to get your desired level of clean.

      • I'm not following. Why would extracting hot water require more suction than cold water?

  • has anyone used the 'pro' version which harvey norman have?
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/bissell-spotclean-profession…

    • Exactly the same internals as this one except the pro version you get the stain trapper tool, 3" tool and 6" tool. This one you get a crevice tool, upholstery tool and 6" tool.

The main difference is the stain trapper tool if you have pets it's traps large poops before they go into the tank.

  • +1

So did any one get the orange pro 1 under $180 I’m going to pick one up
    But it’s at Gerry’s was $249

    • HN is the pro version, not sure of the difference though

      • The pro is better but at $180 carnt complain

        • The pro is exactly the same except for the tools that come with it and the colour. Main difference being the pro one you get a stain trapper tool. Goes for $40 at JB hi-fi if you buy it separately. For $180, the SCA version is much better value

          • +1

@cvas: The pro is $180 at hn I’m picking one up soon I got it by asking for a better price

    • Is this a current price? Website is showing $249 unless I'm looking at something else.

      • +2

I asked for a better price the lowest I
Got was $179 picking up today

I bought one of these a year ago and they work well for spot cleaning and cleaning car seats/carpet. If your gonna do a full room i suggest hiring a britex machine from bunnings instead.

Also you dont need to buy the expensive bissell formulas. I ended up using some leftover Britex carpet cleaner and it worked just as good. I just had to add a bit of de-foamer to the dirty tank.

    Some minor cons:
    -Loud
    -Hose could be longer

  • I've owned one for just under a year
Really good product. Make sure you get the oxy action formula. That stuff works miracles.

  • None in SA!

    Any other options?

  • I don't think there is stock in NSW either..

  • +1

Same deal a year ago, and almost nowhere near as much popularity for CHEAPER.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/449147

Just saying, id just wait longer unless it's really necessary.

    • Reason for that is people are cleaning more and more now due to COVID-19

  • I’ve owned one of these for a while. I find it leaks often and doesn’t have a very good seal on the vacuum. It’s been replaced once by the manufacturer. Barely worth selling on gumtree so I use it occasionally but it’s a pain.

  • Love mine even if it does sound like a jet engine.

What chemical are you guys using?

    • about 10ml of carpet cleaner to the tank, or about a level teaspoon of sodium percarbonate (can adjust accordingly, as long as it dissolves), which will turn into oxygen and water and evaporate with exposure.

  • Got one of these last year, used it twice so far in the car works great! I purchased an extra bottle of the cleaning product just to keep on hand, as the unit itself only comes with a sample one still good enough for a few uses, would recommend :)

  • +1

These are a waste of money. You’re much better off buying an extraction nozzle and pairing it with a wet vac for much better suction power. https://www.magicdetailing.com.au/product/wet-dry-vacuum-cle…

    • Out of stock. Any other suggestions that aren't a waste of money?

  • +1

Nice, bought this last week during their 10% off sale and used the $10 voucher, and today they credit me $50 for the price drop from 229 despite me not paying 229

  • Mine lasted a couple of years. It's ok for cleaning, but can really suck the dye out of dark seats.

  • Mother’s Day present sorted thanx!

    • LOL that was Sept 2019

      • There was stock when I posted it.

  • This wouldn't clean as well as a steam cleaner though, right? Been eyeing the Karcher SC3 Easyfix to use around the house but after reading the comments, wondering if I should get this for the couch

I ended up picking the Professional model for $199 at HN today. It was thanks to this post that I explored the product further and realised we needed this.

For the extra $19.01 (and saving $50 off the listed price) I went for it. The professional also comes with 3 years warranty (2 years + 1 extra for registering via Bissell).

There’s a Bissell 90 day satisfaction guarantee so if for some reason I don’t think it’s worth it or not liking it, I can return it for a full refund.

  • How did you get it for $199 at HN (it is listed at $249)? I would be tempted at that price.

    • +1

I got one hn $180 asked for better price

  • Thanks - will take a trip out

    • your phone number ( customer ) is not blacked out correctly..
