Deal Notes:

In case you're unfamiliar with Amino Z, we're a supplement manufacturer/retailer. And now we're making hand sanitiser in our facility (who'd have guessed). All the obvious reasons why with the gyms being closed.

We are again doing this completely in-house. There's no importing of product and everything is local (ingredients, labour and packaging). Frankly we're just making basic, no-frills hand sanitiser. This is the TGA COVID-19 formulation.

Here's the rundown:

  • It's in an ugly plastic jerry container (We found these after literally days of hunting down containers)
  • I personally created the sticker in Photoshop (Hence why no-frills as this represents the extent of my graphics design skills. As a side note, I am still very jealous of the artwork skills of some of the distilleries.)
  • It's 80% ethyl alcohol (ethanol) with distilled water and propylene glycol (1.45% v/v) and hydrogen peroxide (0.125% v/v). This has been updated as per the TGA guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic here. This is a slightly viscous liquid formula and is not a gel.
  • It's 100% Australian: We make it in Sydney. Ingredients are all Australian sourced. The bottles are manufactured in Victoria. The labels are printed in Queensland.

The deal is $19.95 each (that's for 1 Litre). Order 4 or more and get free shipping, otherwise shipping is $9.99 Australia Wide (or you can pickup for free).

Plus you'll get $5 back as store-credit per unit. It will be credited to your email once the order ships out and can be used as a discount on any future purchase. Perhaps some added motivation to get back to the gym when they reopen? :)

As compared to when we initially launched the deal on April 14th, our cost prices have gone up as I've had to scramble to find more ingredients. However since there will be a slightly longer lead time than last time, I figure it's only fair to keep the deal identical. Plus the previous experience was terrible for some people who spent hours trying to purchase, I cannot in good faith increase this price for all of those who missed out. Instead the only change is that we're accepting credit card (MC/VISA/AMEX) payment directly (using eWay) as to avoid the higher fees of other payment processors (ie. cut out the middle man so we can still make this feasible).

I am aware there have been a number of hand sanitiser deals on Ozbargain lately. I'm hoping that this represents good value given the costs of the components we had to source. Happy to answer any questions!

        I have replied to his PM and come to an agreement. I don't know why you have to troll people on this forum. I had a genuine problem. You (and some others) seem to be going around negging people having problems with their order and responding to them like you have a person stake in all this. Do you not have anything better to do?

        When calls and emails don't work and you question the legitimacy of the business, one has nothing else left to do. FYI: I'd contacted them multiple times and the only contact I've been receiving prior to this was marketing emails and SMSes from the company that I had not signed up for!

        If you want to neg and torment people who have had problems with their order, you're not giving them a great experience on this site.

          All we can see is the store owner commenting multiple times begging for you to contact him and to delay your CC chargeback a bit.

          From what we can tell from his comments on this thread: is that he’s trying hard to resolve people’s issues and go above and beyond to compensate them.

          @ShipShapeRC below had the same issue as you, cancelled order but was shipped anyways. The owner offered him a refund and also offered that person the option to keep his order free of charge in addition to that refund. The store owner also apologised profusely.

          I didn’t neg or “troll” ShipShapeRC for bringing up the EXACT same issue as you.

          Like I mentioned previously, I think people negged you because you went straight to threats before the owner could speak to you personally via Ozbargain. Their customer service staff are backlogged by a weeks worth of customer enquires from what the OP has stated in the deal post.

          Not a troll, your rush to threats and attitude in your original comment is what people take issue with not you raising a genuine issue with your order.

              Just look at all the other user comments for examples of the store providing great customer service.

              You threatened a credit card charge back, I merely suggested you speak to the owner first. You’re the one acting defensive when there’s no need to.

              I don’t want to point fingers, but “someone” reported this deal for sockpuppeting around the exact same time we started talking on the 1st and 2nd.

    I've been a customer of AminoZ for 10 years. Although I'm not heavy on the supplements, they've always supplied me with my preferred BCAA's and the occasional pre-workout. As much they spam me with emails (which is business, I understand) the way they have stepped up in this crisis has put themselves in my "never forget" books. In addition, I am and have already, started spreading the word. Great service, good deeds, free marketing and positive message via word of mouth. Great job guys!

    I have two ordered items in the order , only 1l arrived missing 100ml spray bottle - send email and sms for two days only have a ticket opened no reply. Calling number no one pick up - what a joke

      I'm sure Aminoz team will swiftly sort it out.. They're doing their best to rectify issues and distribution. They did so with mine rather quickly. Have to say very impressed by customer service.

      Use OzB messaging (click username and start a conversation) and ask Jay or whoever is monitoring the deal (during business hours) to chase up your order. Think he was asking for order number and email if you do it tonight.

      Have a read of how the store owner has responded to every comment which has highlighted an issue or problem with their order. [Not to mention all the private messages we can’t see.]

      Leaking bottle? No problem - free replacement. If you read the comments I was the first one to publicly ask if there’s any recourse for that issue and the rep didn’t hesitate in offering a solution. I’m sure there would even be a couple of no gooders with no leaking issue taking advantage of the stores goodwill to score a free bottle.

      Want to cancel an order because you can’t wait any longer? No problem, order cancelled, payment refunded.

      In the deal post it even says there’s a weeks’ backlog in customer enquiries and that they had to hire more staff to manage the backlog of enquiries and all the orders they have to process.

      Give the store a chance to help you out. No legitimate business would want to cheat you out of a cheap plastic bottle in exchange for a more damaging negative review.

    • No need to worry, you placed your order after the original deal ended so you wouldn’t have been included in the first production batch and shipment that you see people on ozbargain now receiving.

      Your order would be in the second batch.

      Production of the second batch would have just started. Expect your order to be sent out next week or the week after.

      You can also re-read the actual deal information for your order by clicking the REVISIONS tab and choosing the April 17 or 18 revision update. You can see the deal and all the relevant info as posted on the day you ordered.

      On April 17/18. It says that production for the second batch would be started within 2 weeks. So around Saturday 2 May. And shipments beginning shortly after that.

      So I wouldn’t worry about it, your order is on schedule according to the information the store owner posted.

      Thanks for reaching out. I took a look at your order and the delay is a result of the other product you ordered in, which is on backorder. We attempted to order it from our supplier and they didn't deliver it and have just advised that it's out of stock.

  • after waiting over two weeks I received my order for 2 bottles of 1L hand sanitiser. . Disappointing that nearly 100 ml were short from each bottle . Including the plastic bottle one was 921 ml and other was 963ml. cheaters. not recommend.

        After 1 month wait it was very disappointed to see the 1 L bottles were not filled with 1 litre each .
        At a glance I could see that can is not full so I measured and took photos. Including the weight of plastic can one was 916 ml . the other one was 969 ml .
        If I get the can weight out at least 100 ml or more is short from each can . I bought one to take to work and I am embarrassed to take it there now .

        Further OZ Bargain code was applied at purchase but did not go thru the site . I was told $9.98 will refund back to my account but for over a month , I did not get that refund.
        Sent emails, left voice messages, sent texts , but no luck .

          Seriously how about some perspective and appreciation for effort? There are tens of thousands dying - including many health workers who have put their lives at risk and worked ridiculously long shifts, millions out of work, businesses failing, and you're "embarrassed" that a bottle of hand sanitizer isn't full? I think you grossly underestimate your workmates and the huge effort AminoZ has made to get this product to market. Here's an idea - sacrifice 31mls out of your home bottle, fill the other bottle up and take it to work. There are mountains and there are molehills.

            • @SAL12: There was nothing dishonest. Explanations of the process, delays etc were given up front. Mistakes were made in the rush and AminoZ has bent over backwards with very generous recompense for pretty much everyone affected. As I said if you seriously think your workmates are that petty then fill one bottle and take that in. It's hardly a huge sacrifice on your behalf, especially as you appear to be in a privileged position of being able to work. AminoZ will sort out your problem, you'll get far more than your paid for - or deserve, and you can be a workplace hero when you roll up with some free sanitizer that you've graciously donated.

                When you can see visible errors it is false advertising.
                Consumers expect to get the product as it is advertised.
                The pay to get the product in same quality, price, quantity etc.

                  I understand that there are, in this imperfect world, perfect human beings who have never made a mistake, but even they should appreciate that this is not a normal situation. In this case consumer law suggests you get in contact with the seller and allow them to make good on the original sale. The good news is that most who have had problems have done this and been hugely overcompensated.

                  I suggest you open a poll and see who agrees with your view that AminoZ has been dishonest and guilty of false advertising. What I see is that from the outset AminoZ saw an opportunity to provide a very limited product at reasonable cost at the time (you might want to familiarise yourself with prices on ebay alcohol for example), keep the business ticking over, and to provide work to people during this crazy time. The background to the whole thing was explained from the start, I suggest you read it. The response was large, mistakes were made in the rush, but the company has gone out of its way to assist dissatisfied customers.

                  In my view they couldn't do any more. Jay has said they have learnt form the experience (just as supermarkets eventually did on product supply and panic buying). He's not alone. We are all learning about our fellow human beings every day.

          In any case I doubt that your coworkers would even notice or go through the hassle of physically measuring the contents to make sure it’s exactly 1L and say “tsk tsk SAL12, you’re missing 30ml’s, tsk tsk.” That’s OCD level of paranoia if your boss or coworkers actually did that.

          Any reaction you get from them besides thanks and gratefulness is not normal.

          Ethanol is lighter than water and the product is 80% Ethanol so if you weighed it you will get an incorrect volume by this method.

      Thanks for the order details.

      I took a quick look at your order, we did process the refund but this was done yesterday and this would have been a result of the huge backlog within the customer service team. I agree the lengthy delay isn't acceptable and I'm very sorry for this.

      I'll arrange for the team to ship off another 1L bottle for the all the trouble. Very reasonable of you to only request 100mL and it's appreciated, but I don't feel that would be adequate considering the trouble.

        I made my comment purely based on what I received.
        I asked the refund over three weeks and I was told it was processing back then.
        Same time 100ml +100ml is 200ml.Not 100ml.
        Hence making a comment what is actually short wouldn’t be a too much trouble and inadequate.

    Bit annoyed, ordered to find out it was out of stock. Text said I would have to wait less than a week before it would ship, so okay I would wait. After a week, I emailed them back via their official email to have a paper trail (comments said they were not answering the phone so I did not bother) to say it's taken too long and I have sourced elsewhere so please cancel. 2 days later I get a "Your order has shipped." text but now I have waaay more than I will probably ever use (unless covid locks us down for a year or more).       • Expired deal and unknown alcohol content - users say that the alcohol content is only 50%. A very questionable product.

        The post says it’s ingredients are identical to Scott’s hand sanitiser which every ozbargainer who has purchased one says smells like ass.

        That is not comparable at all to the hand sanitiser Amino Z is selling which is 80% alcohol and made to WHO recommendations.

        Furthermore, an employee of Bunnings has stated that the product has been recalled due to safety concerns!!!!

        Buyers beware!

        The Oomph hand sanitiser you recommend is not comparable and should be avoided.

        If you want an alternative, look at Manly Spirits who also produce WHO/TGA standard hand sanitiser with 80% alcohol content.

      Thanks for the note, got the order number and looked it up. Yes you're right, ordered on the 20th and shipped on the 29th, we missed the deadline by 2 days for you. As a result of the overload on the customer service team, they wouldn't have been able to get around to your message in time. That's on us as we were ill prepared for the volume that came as a result of this offer.

      Completely understand if you're now overstocked.

      What would you be happy with? If you have no use for the sanitiser I'm happy to arrange a refund/partial refund/store credit - whatever you feel would be fair. Either way I'm happy for you to keep the order for the trouble. Let me know.

How about you issue a 50% refund so you are not fully out of pocket. I will give some of the product to some needy folks and I will keep the balance for my stockpile as who knows how long restrictions will apply. Are you happy with that?

    Received the item today, came earlier than expected considering the back ordering and honestly the packaging doesn't even look as ugly as suggested by OP. However like many others have had, the bottle I received was leaking as some of the ink on the newspaper had visibly smudged and the bottle itself was wet too.

    Have shown/ sent photos of the leaking issue.
    As a result label has defaced and not presentable as gift also unsure how much is left.
    Awaiting for a resolution.
    Unable to give me a time frame keep accumulating Ticket IDs with thanks for letting us know and we shall get back to you.

    My own personal thoughts:
    On another note delayed order (understandable).
    Tracking number was not usable when reaching out no resolution only when the items were suddenly arrived/ delivered response was our records show you have received it.

    Understandable that they are busy but perhaps if they have subbed out their customer service, I would have expected better.
    A tad annoying now still waiting for a resolution.

    Hoping perhaps by commenting here I'll get a resolution.
    (Seems like the case these days where naming and shaming is the only way to get a resolution)

      Thanks for reaching out gcquest. Sorry for the delay with the responses - the team is working vigorously to catch up but we are still days behind.

      Sounds like you received the first batch where we used our in-house printer to get the orders out quicker, as we experienced a hold-up with our label company. So I completely understand if you're unhappy with the label.

      Since you had some product missing, I'm happy to send you replacement units. How many did you want? If you wanted 4 I'll make arrangements. However if you didn't want 4 replacements and just wanted replacement labels (the colour glossy version) then I'm happy to send these too.

      Please let me know and I'll make it happen.

  • Hi Jay, I ordered on 14/4 (#109534406) and was told it was despatched on 26 April (Ticket: 885119)… Hasn't been delivered yet and I'm concerned because a later order mentioned on here was delivered on 28 April (assuming order numbers are sequential).       Hi Luigi. I just looked the order up and can see that it was picked up, but we don't have any delivery on it. I did a quick check on Fastway and the ETA is May 8th - delivery to you will take a bit longer due to your location. It's on the way right now, but if there are any issues please let me know.

    I have received the order too although like everyone else, one of them was leaking although slightly. Anyway cant really complain for the price it was advertised compare to the rest of competitor at that time.

    Received a bottle with quite a bit of leakage. I don’t use products this company sells so the 300 points that were added to my account as compensation are of no use to me unfortunately. I had purchased all 4 bottles for others so will have to work out what to do regarding the leaked bottle as I don’t feel right giving it the way it is.
