Deal Notes:

In case you're unfamiliar with Amino Z, we're a supplement manufacturer/retailer. And now we're making hand sanitiser in our facility (who'd have guessed). All the obvious reasons why with the gyms being closed.

We are again doing this completely in-house. There's no importing of product and everything is local (ingredients, labour and packaging). Frankly we're just making basic, no-frills hand sanitiser. This is the TGA COVID-19 formulation.

Here's the rundown:

  • It's in an ugly plastic jerry container (We found these after literally days of hunting down containers)
  • I personally created the sticker in Photoshop (Hence why no-frills as this represents the extent of my graphics design skills. As a side note, I am still very jealous of the artwork skills of some of the distilleries.)
  • It's 80% ethyl alcohol (ethanol) with distilled water and propylene glycol (1.45% v/v) and hydrogen peroxide (0.125% v/v). This has been updated as per the TGA guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic here. This is a slightly viscous liquid formula and is not a gel.
  • It's 100% Australian: We make it in Sydney. Ingredients are all Australian sourced. The bottles are manufactured in Victoria. The labels are printed in Queensland.

The deal is $19.95 each (that's for 1 Litre). Order 4 or more and get free shipping, otherwise shipping is $9.99 Australia Wide (or you can pickup for free).

Plus you'll get $5 back as store-credit per unit. It will be credited to your email once the order ships out and can be used as a discount on any future purchase. Perhaps some added motivation to get back to the gym when they reopen? :)

As compared to when we initially launched the deal on April 14th, our cost prices have gone up as I've had to scramble to find more ingredients. However since there will be a slightly longer lead time than last time, I figure it's only fair to keep the deal identical. Plus the previous experience was terrible for some people who spent hours trying to purchase, I cannot in good faith increase this price for all of those who missed out. Instead the only change is that we're accepting credit card (MC/VISA/AMEX) payment directly (using eWay) as to avoid the higher fees of other payment processors (ie. cut out the middle man so we can still make this feasible).

I am aware there have been a number of hand sanitiser deals on Ozbargain lately. I'm hoping that this represents good value given the costs of the components we had to source. Happy to answer any questions!

    Received dispatch notification and was sooooo happy until i saw "shipped via FASTWAY". Hope they truly live upto their company's name instead of their reputation….
    I am not going to chase them to their warehouse if they leave any "missed you" cards in this lockdown period.

    • If you run into any issues please let us know ASAP desparito and we'll sort it out from our end. I believe all deliveries are left if no one is home at this time (both Australia Post and Fastway have changed their policies to no signature recently).

      • What are the pro/con of using either AP or Fastway? I'm assuming FW must be cheaper or more convenient for the business/seller, as every end-user experience i hear about (including my own) is that FW is a complete piece of ****. Now my fingers are crossed that my order is in the AP lot!

        • Australia Post can be slower than Fastway by 1-2 days typically (under normal circumstances), particularly to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and other key area's on the Eastern side. Costs do vary, but it depends upon destination - Australia Post can be cheaper for some areas whereas Fastway is cheaper to other areas. Australia Post only delivers to PO Boxes/Locked bags/parcel lockers etc.

          We use both carriers, and well over 99% of our orders are delivered on-time via both carriers. To be completely transparent, we do of course run into issues with both carriers unfortunately. However we're more than happy to step in and take a hit when this occurs (eg. send another parcel, chase them up for you etc).

        @aminozcomau trust me AP are equally bad… had a delivery from MACPAC and specifically replied to AP's sms that i will be at home. Still they left a card to collect from PO.

  • unfortunately I got a message yesterday my delivery will be delayed because out of stock, both in in the sanitizer and the spray bottle, because of out of stock.
    Do you have any idea of possible delivery date?

    • Please ignore this message, and I am sorry for the confusion as this is an automated email. The order will not be delayed extensively. We are currently manufacturing the product and for all new orders we're expecting a lead time within a week.

        • It should say on your order invoice your ETA, stating within x days from dispatch. So you should get the dispatch email shortly and then it will be within this many days after your order has shipped out.

  • Has anyone got one - can it be used as a surface sanitiser? (i.e. fast drying and non-sticky)

      The formula and comments from Jay suggests to me that would be perfectly fine in most cases. Some comments from lab workers in this deal suggest they use similar formulations for cleaning. You might want to do a small test first if the surface is plastic. Daughter's workplace was cleaning down surfaces with metho at one point. It certainly can affect plastics. Hope he doesn't mind but you could ask member assailantsky for a more-informed opinion.

    • You may wish to check that there is no issue with the hydrogen peroxide, ethanol and propylene glycol on the surfaces that you are cleaning. This will sanitise surfaces though and this is not a sticky formula. However I am not an expert in this area and the suggestion above by Possumbly is great.

      Same here so off to collect it this Saturday. I actually received an email the week I placed the order saying it was going to be cancelled as I hadnt paid even though I did so I sent them a screenshot of my statement. Turns out the first time I tried to order via Afterpay, it failed but still generated an order number and the second time I tried when I finally got in is the correct order and is now ready.

    For those that have received, what does it smell like? Ok or bad?

      It’s a very very mild alcohol smell. If you remember using Aqium hand sanitiser, it’s a lot milder and doesn’t have that burning alcohol smell when you sniff it.

      It’s pretty good.

    Thanks Jay/Amino Z, received the shipping notice last Thursday, my order arrived today. (Ordered during original deal -14th April)

    All nicely packed, no frills bottle sealed tight, no frills black and white sticker, label is a bit big but fancy packaging isn’t the reason we all bought one.

    The hand sanitiser is very liquid like, I’d say in between water and Aqium hand sanitiser but a lot closer to water in terms of consistency.

    The smell is very mild compared to Aqium and Purell.

    The 1L bottles are small and compact, makes it very easy to store.

    Filled up an empty Purell hand sanitiser pump bottle and it works well. No issues.

    Got mine today. Unfortunately it looks like the sanitiser has leaked out of the containers during shipment, as I could feel the liquid when pulling them out and seeing the different levels in the containers. I've sent them an email so hopefully it'll be sorted.

    • Oh darn, I believe you 100%!! Hope they are able to sort it out for you.

      I just opened my second package/shipping bag because of what you said and mines exactly the same. Noticeable difference in the amount of liquid still inside the bottles, in my case a bit less than 1cm’s worth.

      The two bottles inside my second shipping bag are wet, especially around the sides of the bottle and round the rim next to the bottle cap. The sticker label soaked and darkened.

      I’ve tightened the lid/cap to make sure it wasn’t loose and it was loose a tiny bit. Liquid did pour out when I angled the bottle . There’s no puncture or other sort of damage.

      I’m fairly confident it leaked during shipping because the lids weren’t tightened properly before shipping, ordered 4 in total and my first package of two were fine.

        Oh of course. If you're experienced any loss of product we can sort it out so I'd suggest just sending through an email to us and we can rectify the situation. We're certainly not going to leave you dissatisfied if there's been a problem in shipping.

        Also - I'll onforward this feedback to the warehouse as we're packing these like crazy, they may just need to double check the lids are properly secured as they are being packed.

        Mine arrived today and I had pretty much the same issue as you described except it affected all four bottles. I've emailed support about it and waiting to here back (Ticket ID 573043)

          Only one of my bottles had the cap loose and I luckily didn’t lose much (6-7mm estimate eyeballing the side window) otherwise I’d ask for a replacement as well.

          Hopefully you get your free replacements soon.

          Okay thanks for getting in touch and I'll ensure the team looks after you. I spoke with the warehouse today and they did advise that they noticed some of the earlier shipments had loose caps and so now they are being diligent in tightening them as they are shipping out.

    My order arrived but it leaked and the package packaging has disappeared after ink dissolved in the Alcohol.

    Can we have a link to the Packaging as its required for my workplace (healthcare) and I will print it again.

    I'm a bit disappointed it leaked but still happy as long as I can get Logo soon.

  • Received the package today with newspapers :) It has slightly leaked.
    Any tips in pouring the product into a small container without wasting? Quite challenging as it's very much like a liquid.

      Use a funnel.

    • Was there much product loss or is the leaking only minor? Please let me know if there was much loss so we can fix things up.

      Funnel is probably your best bet as xoom mentioned, especially if you purchased the spray bottles as they will have a narrower opening.

    I've been in contact via email and sms multiple times requesting a refund but not having any luck so i thought maybe airing my grievance here out in the open might get some results.

                @aminozcomau: Weird question, but do you know what the total weight of the product including bottle is? I just received mine and have also had some leakage. I thought I'd use my kitchen scales to try and gauge how much liquid was lost, but without knowing the weight of the bottle can't really get an accurate measure.

      Yeah my Fastway tracking showed no results at all until after it was delivered.

        Not unusual with Fastway contractors ime. I had one SCA order which had only about a 25km distance to be covered and it wasn't logged at any time. SCA was eventually able to trace the order to a depot a few days later. The driver had failed to log the pickup, failed to deliver to me, failed to log that he'd dropped it off at the depot. Another of their contractors dropped an expensive Amazon order off at a neighbour's - half a dozen houses up the street on the other side of the road - despite the address being clear and correct. They have a bad reputation for good reason.

      Fastway seems to be delayed in their system and so will be deliveries. It has definitely been sent. I'd expect this no later than tomorrow to arrive given current delays with delivery services, but please let me know if it isn't received by then and we will just ship off another. Thanks!

    I ordered on 14 April. Kept getting emails saying no stock. Waited patiently and finally received an email 10 days later on 24 April saying order dispatched. Now, I received an email saying that Fastway can't deliver my order as it is damaged and that there is no stock (ETA minimum 2-3 weeks). I'm not happy to wait another 2-3 weeks for stock to arrive and then more time for you to dispatch. Please kindly refund. Order number is 109533585. Thanks.
