Can u do it for $200 even???

    • oops, I meant to click on +ve.

    • I will buy it NOW for sure if the price was $199 or say $200. Looking forward.

Phone needs to have atleast 3.5 inch screen.

  • Prepare to find 20-30 pre-loaded apps from Telstra, most of which you'll not be able to uninstall.

    • I guess you can flash a custom ROM. But I can't see a high tech guy buying such low end phone lol It is a 600mhz cpu… we are doing dual core 1ghz now… 1.5ghz dual is around the corner…

Anyways, the price is cheap but you also need to weight other costs and benefits. Definitely not recommended IMHO.

  • Is this a good phone for the price, or is there something else around this price that is better?

$209 is an okay deal for a Wildfire S, cheapest is $219 on eBay for an unlocked version. I agree with creeps_bay - drop it down to $199 and that'd be a good deal.

Pretty good specs, 512MB ram, 5MP camera with LED flash, 600MHz Qualcomm CPU with an Adreno 200GPU.

And a big plus is it supports the 850MHz network (Telstra NextG, Vodafones new network)

And ReqMan possibly the Huawei Sonic for $188 unlocked, but less RAM, no camera flash, and no NextG support. But it does have a 3.5" screen.

    Thanks xDEFINE.

What about the Huawei Ideos X5? A little more expensive, but worth it?

$200 for this HTC delivered is pretty good though (for a new phone for the wife)

    • Only worth it if you prefer a larger screen and are not on telstra.

      • Very little stock of the Huawei.

    • Probably, but I'd pay a bit extra and get a Samsung Google Nexus S for $299 at Vodafone PrePaid. Apparently they can be unlocked for free.

  • Good quality android phone with more than enough features. Added bonus being able to use Telstras very fast & reliable broadband. Don't worry about the $9 ?? go for it. For latest spec phone go for the new LG Black which is a steal for around $350ish.

  • When you say this is 3G and Next G Compatible, would this work on the Optus network?

    • 2100 only.

      • Thanks for that.

Think I might wait for another deal with a phone that's meant for Optus. Wouldn't mind a 4.3" screen instead and a 1GHz processor. My tablet is 600MHz and I do find it slow.

      • The spec said 850/2100 so is it should work with Optus or Telstra.

        • As I understand, Optus is also use the 900MHz frequency which (is that internet data only?) which is where the problem is.

  • how does this compare with the huawei sonic for $179?

    • Sonic:
Same screen resolution 320x480 (which is about the lowest usable res you'd want)
Hasn't got camera flash (this has got flash)
      Hasn't got autofocus (this has)
Both have crap cameras anyway LOL
Bigger screen 3.5" rather than this one's 3.2"
This one has a nicer metal body.
Works on 900MHz (optus), this one doesn't (it's Telstra NextG 900MHz only)

Bottom line - this is a cheapo Telstra phone. And Voda, if you have access to the new 850MHz network in your usual locations.
