since no guarantee you will get cash back is "$10 credit to both the referrer and referee."" better option or can you get both at the same time if so how?
Referral system doesn't work for Amaysim.
Are you saying Amaysim's "Refer A Friend" would not work for this Amaysim's free 1G SIM?
Came back to clarify…
Ozbargain's referral system isn't working. Amaysim Referrals are apparently not allowed to be on the system.Amaysim may not honour referrals with this free promotion - it's up to them.
Good if you've got a referral code & get $10 credit. But don't ask as the Mods are watching out for referral requests in this Deal.
@INFIDEL: Thanks for clarification. fyi, I got the $10 credit for one of the Amaysim's targeted free SIM promo more than a year ago. Reckon things may have changed.
@F1ngolf: Using a referral is always worth a try.
Although SIM credit is never that great. Can put on pay as you go or add another month of 1GB free.
I've ordered to port later & will likely order another before end of promotion. So effectively up to 2 months free.
To take advantage of various promotions, I already have 5 sims activated in my name. Anyone has experience of exceeding the 5 sims limit and get into trouble?
Never been a problem over last 6+ years of my SIM hopping.
As SIMs can be active for up to a year after last use (like these), activating a new SIM each month means maybe 10 SIMs still active at once!
Forgot to create new account. Still got tracking from Cash Rewards.
Tracking only shows you "bought" from Amaysim & the "expected" cashback amount if approved by Amaysim.
It's up to Amaysim to decide.
Only 1 cashback per CR / SB account ever now!
Thanks OP! Picked up a free SIM :D
where is deal for 8 months for only $15, being waiting for this …
Hopefully by activating this free sim will score us that 100gb bonus data!
Free 1GB Sim Card Delivered @ amaysim, and
First renewal freeso this is free for two months? 2GB?
1 month with 1GB.
Activation is your First renewal free.
It will likely arrive preactivated, so you lose a few days of the 28.I've left mine for a couple of weeks before putting it in my phone and they have readjusted the 28 days automatically. They sent me an email to let me know as well.
Yes, there's a sweet spot for them to adjust the service to the full 28 days automatically.
About 2 weeks without using a
preactivated SIM & then using it on a call etc, triggered the readjustment on all my SIMs.People should contact Amaysim to check.
I order the SIM to port & decide later when to active - on the port number or a new number.
@INFIDEL: Mine was pre-activated, so when I put the sim in my phone after 2 weeks they re-adjusted the 28 days. I think this is automated.
@Arthur Dunger: Mine arrived preactivated.
Using SIM soon after arrival did not change service termination date - which arrived with less than 28 days.
Using about 2 weeks after arrival reset to 28 days automatically. First call or text seemed to trigger reset.
Best for people to check as their systems change!
@Arthur Dunger: Still enjoying your sweet Deal🍯
@INFIDEL: Haha yes I still have some too.
Ported my SIM yesterday, used late yesterday. Received SMS today they'd reset it to 28 days, so got 28.5d! Pity I missed out on the added 10GB😢
How is it legal to advertise a free renewal, if it's not? If only the initial activation is free, seriously. This needs to stop.
Has anyone successfully ported from Optus / Coles mobile?
My long term number has not worked since January and when I tried to port to boost mobile they said 1-2 months to get help to resolve due to all the lockdowns overseas.
Should I try my luck with Amaysim?
I'm just trying to get a service without a damn voicemail!!!
not exactly. i ported over from virgin/optus last week. took 4 working days.
My number was allegedly porting to boost from 30th March and still nothing
Porting from Optus / Coles mobile to Amaysim wouldn't be a good idea as it uses the Optus network as well. There is usually less problems if you port to a different network.
Also I'm not sure on the technical issues seeing as you have already initiated a port to Boost. It might be stuck with them now.You can turn off voicemail on most service providers.
If you can still port somewhere else you could try Kogan Mobile (Voda).
Prepaid Voucher Code: EXTRA LARGE (30 Days | 40GB) - $4.90 (Was $49.90) @ Kogan Mobile (New Customers Only)
Kogan Mobile | $14.90 for 90 Days | 20GB Per 30 Days | Unlimited Talk & Text (Porting Australian Number to Kogan Required)I think my number is in limbo. It is active with Coles mobile (Optus) & can receive calls etc. Boost mobile told me the port hasn't initiated because the number is not active / disconnected (had so many issues with getting it working on coles mobile)
My number is sitting idle, I don't actually need credit as my temporary number is going, but no one can disable voicemail so I'm trying to find a provider that can
You can turn Voicemail on and off via a call, 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Dial our self-service number 1509 (free call)
Select 'Voicemail'
Then choose either Activate or Deactivate
Voicemail will be added or removed within 15 min to 4 hours.@Arthur Dunger: My sim can't make calls. Even reporting them to the ombudsman did nothing.
Appreciate the suggestions =)
Anyone else having problems trying to register cashback?
For some reason, I can't reachad.doubleclick.net
so the cashback never comes through.
Is it down for everyone or something in my PC blocking it?One Big Switch has this same deal first month free but for the 2GB ($10) and 45GB ($30) plans.
https://onebigswitch.com.au/campaigns/2004-obs-telco-amaysim…
Guys I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I'm using the latest Firefox and clicking to turn off auto-renew doesn't do anything.
Has anyone received this yet?
Yes. I'm in Sydney.
Hmm interesting, ordered mine last weekend and it still hasn't arrived. Also in Sydney. Thanks.
Australia Post is struggling to cope with deliveries, I got mail yesterday that took 2 weeks to arrive!
@forrester: Mail delivery seems not, but parcel delivery does.
Nothing yet here too (sydney). Hoping it arrives in the afternoon or something.
not yet:(
Received SIM in Brisbane on Friday.
Same here on Friday
All up, from order to now how long did it take to arrive to you in Bris?
Signed up 10th, 8am so 7 days.
@INFIDEL: Thanks for letting me know. In the email they sent me after signup they did say within 2-7 days.
So good to hear yours was 7 days.
@zztrader: Mine was for porting a number, so will not arrive activated.
Otherwise you may lose some days out of the 28days
Ordered on 11/4, still no mail. I am in WA.
I ordered one of these last week.
But reading through the promotion,
"First renewal free on the $10 Unlimited 1GB mobile plan. Then $10/28 days thereafter"This could still sound like you still pay for the first month at $10 but the next renewal is Free.
Does this simply mean the first month there is No payment of $10 taken out, or does this mean the 2nd month is Free?
Just double checking as the wording seems open open to the 2nd month depending how one views or reads it.
I agree with you, we could be simply paying $10 first then on second month Free. A lot of us could fall into this trap.
I am hoping this is not the case and it is the first month Free.
As it seems a few posters were using this sim to Port somewhere else at no cost so fingers crossed that it is.
It's free the first month. I've just activated it. Also, if you buy through a referral you'd get a $10 credit which will pay for another month, so it's really 2 months free this way.
Thanks for sounding off on this aoiro, good to get such confirmation!
My sim arrived in the mail today so it was 6 days landed after order which is good to know as it helps with timing.
Still missing in Sydney. Weird.
Ordered 10th, Dispatched 14th, and nothing since.
Exactly the same as you. I got nothing.
Got mine today, Sydney.
Same, all good.
Finally they arrived today. The postage timeline will be even longer now as they announced to only send letters every second day. I would have thought that they have been doing this for ages.
Still waiting for my SIM order on 10th. When did you place your order?
11/4
Thanks, mate. So I should expect SIM to arrive this week. I also noted that the $1 authorisation debit on my debit card is still there. Any idea how long it take for Amaysim to reverse the $1 charge?
My SIM card arrived yesterday (24/4). Even though I received an e-mail on 14/4 to say, "Your amaysim SIM card is on its way", it wasn't postmarked until a week later (21/4).
My SIM card arrived yesterday (24/4).
Same, though I never received an email saying it was on its way.
According to the online account page it only has 17 days left … but at the same time my phone says it's getting no service via the SIM. Ah Amaysim.
No more Cashback?
$3 Party is over!
ShopBack shows $3 above but is now like Cashrewards @$0I clicked on shopback $3 above and was directed to shopback then showing no cashback.
ShopBack shows TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE now.
Still haven't received mine… Said it was on its way on the 10th.
fyi i got $10 each for referring wife
How many wives do you have?
took 15 days to get to Perth. -_-
Does this still require you to enter a Card even if it is $0 ? Does that also mean it is defaulting to Card Payment as the default payment? I prefer using Vouchers for Amaysim. Is there any way I can order this online without providing Card details?
If already activated on Amaysim - it qualifies us for 10GB FREE!
Is anyone else finding that their SIM card was pre-activated when they received the shipping confirmation email?
My Amaysim account is telling me that I have 27 days remaining. It may even take AUSPOST another two weeks to delivery the SIM due to how royally backed up they currently are with all their mail and parcels.
Thanks for your reply. I totally missed that.
I had a chat with one of the Amaysim reps, and they offered to reset the days remaining counter when I actually receive my SIM.BTW, their phone support is completely down as is the case with Belong NBN. I don't understand why their call center staff members in the Philippines cannot work from home.
Since my prepaid number pre-activated on the 30th April 2020, why does my account still say 1GB instead of 10GB?
they probably don't have the IT infrastructure to allow them to work from home.
Lots of helpful information in comments! Preactivation issue is discussed in most Amaysim Deals.
Others posted you needed to be active many days before May1 to qualify. So you don't qualify for added Data.
I don't understand why their call center staff members in the Philippines cannot work from home
Maybe take a moment to understand what you are asking….
A big issue for call centre industry & their clients at the moment.
Some staff deal with confidential information (payments, access to client files, etc) which require close supervision. That would not be available in dormitory accommodation many workers live in.
Staff are usually poorly paid & may not have a home…
Without good supervision & systems, staff could sell your or their business clients information & we don't want that!!The call centre industry is notoriously built on very close supervision & control of staff! Working from home breaks that model. And some contracts may not allow it.
Remote supervision is possible - but takes time to put new IT & systems in place. That's expensive as a short term measure & not so easy during a crisis.
With distancing now required, offices can't accommodate so many workers that were previously packed in tightly. That creates longer wait times for calls to be answered or no service available. And less profit for operators.
But close contact (including being made to sleep on floor of office) is threatening the health of call centre staff. Some call centres are providing hotel accommodation, so staff are safe, can work from there, & can be supervised.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-28/call-centre-workers-i…
There are support problems with several telcos.
Went to a major Vodafone store yesterday during their amended business hours posted on their door - closed both times. Tried to call store to arrange time to visit - only available through main Vodafone support number. It won't accept any calls unless absolutely urgent - so wait. Left on hold…
As it's a SIM swap of expired data SIM - can only be done at major stores. So limping along on this 1GB until store opens sometime.
No need to contact Amaysim to reset expiry date - as already discussed.
Just received a SMS…
Hi Infidel, we noticed you've only just started using your amaysim SIM, so we've restarted your plan date so you get the most out of your plan.It was only started as of yesterday's Port & used late yesterday, so a reset wasn't necessary. But gave me 28.5 days use!
@INFIDEL: Thanks a lot for this tip. In retrospect, I should have read all of your pasts comments before signing up to Amaysim.
@DoctorCalculon: A lot of others post good advice too. We've had a lot of experience of Amaysim through great Cashback Deals, so know their system😉 It used to be far worse.
@INFIDEL: Agreed. Some really great tips on this thread. Definitely worthwhile going through all the comments within the 2 pages for future Amaysim deals.
I have a number that I want to keep alive that is currently sitting with Telstra, which I have to port out to another provider within 6 months (so that it is not disconnected). If I ask very nicely, I wonder if Amaysim customer support will send me a blank SIM to port this number to them rather than go with the pre-activated number.
@DoctorCalculon: It might be difficult as the Amaysim you received had already been allocated a number when it was activated. You could try.
They will likely offer to sell you a new SIM for $5! ($10 plan with 2GB now $5)
If only you had asked before this deal expired & ordered another free SIM to Port it - under a slightly different email so it qualifies as a new customer!
I am keeping my old number alive for another year by porting from Optus to this free Amaysim.
In addition to the tip from 'the INFIDEL', you can also pay using PayPal (instead of a CC) and delay the ID verification, then the SIM won't be pre-activated.
I got this plan…. and just saw on my account that ive been given 10gb.
so those ppl on the freebie one check your account!
Bonus 10gb for nothing
As discussed above, If SIM was active many days before May1, you'll receive the added 10GB.
I activated early on May1😢My SIM card hasn't even arrived, and I got this email yesterday from Amaysim.
From now on, you'll get 2GB (instead of 1GB) on mobile no. 04XXYYYZZZ. That's double the data for the same price of $10/28 days. We hope you're enjoying your first month.
An unexpected surprise from Amaysim.
BTW, you were right about porting a different number to Amaysim at this juncture. The Amaysim rep said they could only do this if I go out and buy a $2 starter SIM card myself. They won't send out a blank SIM via post.
Porting SIM from Optus can be tricky as Amaysim is also on Optus.
Requested Port before porting service opened at 8am AEDT yesterday (Friday) & successfully Ported by 4:30pm same day.I am porting from Catch Connect to Amaysim from yesterday 7 am and no porting done till today. Got an email that it may take up to 8 days (from max 3 days) to port in Optus. Pathetic.
Have been reports that porting out of Catch (on Optus) to an Optus services can be slow. It's an issue with Catch Connect.
May 4 was public holiday in some areas of Australia.Oic, I would have thought that this should all be completed by an AI rather than human.
@yht: It's bureaucratic. Details on both services must be checked to be the same. Both services must contact you to make sure someone else isn't stealing your number & identity…
I've ported Vodafone to a Telstra $2 SIM & back to Vodafone in a few hours on Christmas Eve.
So, it doesn't need to be this slow. It's the price we pay for using discounted service providers.
Don't forget most of these services operate on East Coast times - which can also delay if you miss the porting hours.
@INFIDEL: True, surely if they are under the same network, it will be faster to port.
@yht: Chat with them and within an hour ported in. Nope, spoke to soon. Connected to Amaysim but still unable to make any call.
@yht: Logical assumption. But it doesn't work this way. Porting requests between providers on same Optus network are routed to Optus for confirmation and porting. In most cases, the delay is at Optus. For different network providers, porting is an automated process as long as all details are correct.
When I try to activate I get an error saying "Your amaysim service is no longer active." It has been like this for a few days now anyone else in the same boat?
TURN OFF AUTO PAYMENT
or
Change Payment Method to bpay / vouchers
or
Turn off future payments to Amaysim in PayPal.
or all 3 to be sure!
