What's your definition of refurbished on a scale of wet wipe down to body shell replacement?

    • +1

Hi, it depends on the actual condition of the laptop. Wipe down is definitely a part of it but quite often they include screen replacement, keyboards replacement, stress testing, OS installation etc. We may replace other hardware if required. We inspect items before sourcing them so there are very few cases we replace the casing. Hope that clarifies.

This one is $449, no ssd but has a FHD screen

I'd argue that for a $50 saving you could swap the drive, but have a better screen

    • +7

      No FHD, no deal.

      • +9

With the exception of 11 inch Chromebooks, it should be illegal to sell a laptop without at least FHD.

In 2010 I thought it was ridiculous that 1366x768 screens were still a thing, how are they still around in 2020?!

      • Just updated the listing with FHD display.

          Don’t you dare lie!

          Specs:
          Dell Latitude E5470
          CPU: Intel Core i5-6200U.
          GPU: Intel HD Graphics 520.
          Display: 14.0”, HD (1366 x 768), TN.

          • @MuddyClear: Why dont you check the listing again rather than making things up?

            • -1

@Skymstr: This model has no FHD screen according to dell website. You stop making things up.

              • +1

@MuddyClear: It has the option, as per my link to the other eBay listing

                Review

The Latitude E5470's 1920 x 1080-pixel display is more vibrant and colorful than competing business laptops. As I watched the trailer for Zoolander 2, A cherry-red convertible looked vivid, and I could make out the small grooves in Hansel's hilariously small quarter-mask. However, the display sometimes appeared to have a slightly yellowish cast. The 1080p display on our review unit is an optional feature — it costs $70 to upgrade from a 1376 x 768 display.

              • @MuddyClear: The service tag of one of the laptop is 6YJHYF2. Check the Dell website and respond accordingly please. Quite often there is a difference whats in the paper and whats in reality. Blaming others based on just your understanding is not probably the right way and similar to pointing finger towards yourself.

                From Dell website:
                391-BCDO : 35.6cm (14.0") FHD (1920x1080) Non-Touch Anti-Glare LCD with Camera and Mic

                • @Skymstr: What do you expect when your post and ad makes no mention that they are not base configurations. Regardless, I'm calling BS that all of a sudden all of the units have the upgraded FHD screen after complaints it was just HD. In terms of price there is no bargain here!

And your post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/522184#comment-8540891 makes me concerned about buying from you.

                  • @MuddyClear: When we sell an item, we have full rights to change them and its our responsibility to inform the customers about those changes which we did. The most important thing here is the change was made to make this a better deal which you are questioning. Whats is your problem mate, are you ok?

And I am still yet to understand how a post like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/522184#comment-8540891 can concern someone?

If you are working from home, I think we all have better things to do.

Yes we are aware you updated the post from HD to “FHD” after people complained HD was rubbish. It seems rather convenient, but in any case people who get the HD version from you should return it for full refund.

Since you asked. The post is about you whinging about eBay change of policy that had protected a buyer from you, which you obviously didn’t like.

  • 1x8gb ram or 2x4gb ram?

    • 1X8GB RAM

How much do you normally sell these refurbs?

    • $499 at a guess, I have been looking at refurbs a little lately, this price seems about on par for what it is.

      • +7

        $499 at a guess

Then this is just advertising if there is no saving.

        • +1

          Correct.

  • +6

Got two of these laptops, both died over internal short circuit. Googled, seems like a common problem.

No go if u ask me.

  • +4

Why would you waste $499 on second hand tech that is five years old. A 6200u is an old school dual core CPU with all the Intel security issues that they have been exposed for.

    • Well you could waste $499 on this with a weak processor, HD screen and build quality that's probably going to be trash.

Personally I'd go for the Dell.

  • +4

Seriously, why would you go for a $479 refurb when u can get a newer laptop with warranty like this for $120 more?

    • +1

Totally agree. These are already used for 5 years, and on top of that refurbished (maybe from spares from other broken laptops) and an almost outdated CPU with just 3 months warranty, weakened battery, weakened SSD life and lesser peace of mind. 120 or even 200 more for all the above is a no brainer. And also the brand new feeling is just unbeatable :)

$500 for 3 months is LOL

i dont mind the risk from refurb slash exlease but at close to new prices???
