  • Are they selling a washing machine?

Honestly for a few hundred more you can buy a decent brand front loader on special, IE Bosch, LG, Fisher Paykel, Samsung, over an Aldi top/front loader.

“Honestly, for just the price of two or three of these machine you can buy one overpriced name brand machine”.

      • +1

Not at all, when the name-brands go on sale, they can be down to $450-500 for their entry level models. I'd sooner buy that than the Aldi one - who knows how annoying the warranty would be with Aldi.

Sometimes it's a combination of price vs quality, cheapest price isn't always the best if the quality isn't there. I wouldn't touch an Aldi washing machine even if it was $100.

I'm talking about their washing machines, not dryers. I don't care for a dryer, that's what the clothesline/clothes rack is for. They chew power.

        • Just FYI, most decent dryers these days use the same or less than a washing machine. Our dryer uses 1/5 the power of our washing machine wash cycle.

@onlinepred: Are you sure? Perhaps the expensive heat pump ones, but I wouldn't have thought the regular electric element dryers (ie like this one)?

            • @placard: My el cheapo cost $1.10 per full 6kg load. My rental's dryer is a 5 star factory seconds F&P which costs on average $0.89 My current condenser ($750 from Bosch outlet with dings/no pipe/no box rrp $2250) costs on average $0.38 per 6kg load.

To be honest, the savings over a year is barely $100. It would be long term if you wanted to save money on power. And realistically I can afford $1 a week to dry my clothes.

          • @onlinepred: Keen to know which reasonably priced dryer uses such low power.

            • +1

@rdhupar: I wouldn't have a clue mate. I got most of my dryers at outlets or factory seconds. I wouldn't touch a new one unless it was a center piece in my laundry lol. See if there are any of these near you, but like I said, spend a little more and save a little more over many years, really depends how often you use the dryer.

    No refunds

    • How do you know this?

      • Check their update policy on their website cheapass, 60 day rule no longer applies

        • Special Buys

Except for items in the categories of grocery items referred to above, we will refund or replace any non-grocery specials within 60 days. Please provide your original receipt (or other proof of purchase), ideally with packaging, when you return the item to us.

    • +2

That would go against consumer law. If its broken you get a refund.

    • As far as I'm aware that only applies to the same categories of high demand items that other supermarkets have banned, like toilet rolls and flour

    Good looking dryer

  • Would have been nice to be sensor dryer but not expected at this price point

    • It has a “smart” setting which uses a sensor to detect when the clothes are dry.

      • Nice. You'd think they'd make that a selling point

  • Is that the real look? That's the coolest dryer ive ever seen. Wouldnt mind splashing the cash just for that look!

  • Got the old Aldi 7kg cloth dryer, it is fine for drying cloth but the filter can't block all the lint. Can't tell for this one as the looks totally difference.

    With Winters around the corner

can i put this in the bedroom and just leave the door open?

  • Can you leave dryer on the floor or it must be wall mounted?

    • It can be placed on the floor.

      • Would be alright stacked on the washing machine or not safe?

        • +1

The manual says not to, but I did just that and so far it seems ok. As long as you balance the legs to minimize movement of both machines.

@maburu1: While I was researching a stack kit for my Bosch washer, it seems like a lot of people do this.

Most suggest to put a rubber mat between the two. Ive done this for mine but I haven't tested it out yet as its been pretty sunny this weekend.

  • Just got one! Yay

    • I also managed to get 1.

Initially they put 6 and I got from this lot. While I shopping for other store, I noticed that they kept on bringing more.

There were about 30 in my store and all sold out by 9am.

  • Tried many stores all sold out in the morning…

    • +2

Lined up from about 810am this morning at local store for this. Managed to score 18 roll of toilet paper as an added bonus!

      • now that's a win.

  • Do you need to vent this to the outside? My laundry is in the garage and have never owned a dryer. There are no vents in the garage to attach it to.

    • I am looking to vent outside. What kind of cost I am looking to get it done via brick rendered wall?
