Razer Blade 15 Advanced (9th Gen Intel Processor) - 256GB / RTX 2070

  • 15.6-inch full HD 240hz display
  • Intel Core i7-9750H
  • 16 GB memory/256 GB SSD
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070

RRP for this laptop (incl the "Razer tax" is $4199 AUD). I expect that we are seeing discounts due to the fact that this model may be superseded soon.

For comparison
MS Store ($4099 AUD): https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/razer-blade-15-advanced-ga…
Scorptec ($3799 AUD): https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Notebooks/Gaming-Noteboo…
JB Hifi ($3899 AUD): https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/razer-blade-15-advanced-m…

Things to note:

  • Yes, this laptop only has 256GB SSD, however it is user upgradable and comes with an additional M.2 expansion slot for easy installation
  • 16GB RAM model, however unlike some other gaming laptops (Dell Alienware, etc) the ram is not soldered, so you can easy upgrade to 32GB if you desire
  • With Razer laptops your mileage may vary. On this very forum you will find reference to poor QA (evidenced over the 2017-2018 era models) as well as problems dealing with Razer support. The MS eBay store allows returns up to 30 days, so I would suggest if you decide to take the plunge to really weed out any concerns in those first 30 days and to exercise that refund option with Microsoft.
  • The RTX 2070 card is Max-q and therefore under clocked. I would suggest if you're interested in the comparisons of this card against desktop and other non-max-q designs (vs 1070 and 1060, for instance) to review benchmarks online. The laptop seems to perform quite well in many respects. Once again, YMMV - do your research :)

  • 240hz on a 15inch is a bit much. good price nonetheless

    • How does screen size have anything to do with refresh rate?

      • +1

I think he's implying that if your a serious gamer using 240hz correctly, your not gaming on a 15 inch screen.

        • Competitive games are better played on smaller screens.

          • @Diji1: How's that?

            • +3

@Carrian: Because in fast paced games your eyes don't need to move from the sight in the centre of the screen.

              • @Diji1: Nah, the sweet spot for fast paced shooters is 24". With a bigger screen all the models are bigger and easier to spot, but anything from 27" are too big. On the other hand, 15" is just too small.

        • This.

  • Honest question, what alienware laptop has soldered ram?

    • +2

The Alienware m15 range and the new m15 R2. Soldered ram, and the max configurable through Dell is 16GB.

      • +1

Thanks for the reply. That seems like a huge step backwards!

      • +1

m15 is not. m15 R2 is soldered ram

      • I own the original m15 and can confirm it has upgradeable memory.

I use my laptop for mainly development apps, so mainly spend time in front of glorified text editors, but damn my next laptop with be a high refresh lcd. Couldn't believe how smooth mouse and window movements are on a 120 Hz screen let alone 240 Hz. If only I find a low power cpu, with high refresh lcd.

    • If only I find a low power cpu, with high refresh lcd.

… so this deal isn't that?

      • +2

This is a H CPU which is 45W TDP which is high power for a laptop.

Bill probably wants something with a U CPU (15W.)

But high refresh screens are considered a gamer feature so it may not exist.

      • +1

45W cpu isn't low power, the low power U series are 15W. The problem is high refresh screen are associated with gaming laptops, so they get higher end CPU's. I prefer 10 hour battery life, but after using a 120 Hz laptop I'm converted, next laptop will be high refresh

  • FYI
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Razer-Blade-15-Advanced-Model-…

    CPU is a bit throttle-ey.

Does have TB3 though which isn't mentioned in the description.

    • Prob want to set it to throttle a bit, blades are known for extreme heat and battery inflation. My 2017 model now runs with a battery after my battery critically failed a month ago.
But the laptop is great, been to work, uni, holidays and random places

      • Notebook batteries are rated to last 2 years, yours lasted 3, so it goes against your argument.

  • Sooo tempting but a bit out of my budget. Also I wish Razer released made the white/silver colour option available in Australia like they did in every other country.

    • Same here, I like their silver and white edition more.

  • +2

This is an amazing deal for $2640! The same configuration is $4100 on Microsoft Store and $3900 from Razer. Plus if you get it from Microsoft Store you have access to a much better domestic warranty, as opposed to dealing with international warranty, and Razer is notoriously slow at that.

Next gen laptops will go up in price given how badly the Aussie dollar tanked.

  • Dammit I realllly want to pull the trigger on this, have we had any laptops with similar specs from Asus,MSI or Dell within the same price?

    • +1

It probably doesn't help, but I ordered on Tuesday evening and the item arrived today (Thursday morning). Super fast delivery by DHL.

      • +1

Pulled the trigger, i cant wait :)

      • how is the laptop now? still goood

        • Mine is still going strong :) Have updated the ram to 32GB and 1tb SSD.

          • @ryanryan: is the battery life good, im planning to get this for uni work and how is the gaming

            • @Digitalco: Gaming is great. I don't generally run it on battery though.

  • Promo Code doesn't work anymore!

    • "This code can't be applied to your order."

      • +1

Damm really? I literally just purchased one 15mins ago!

      • I just signed in as a guest and confirmed that it is still applying. Can you go back and ensure you enter "PMST20" - maybe share a screenshot if it's still not working so that we can help?

  • Deal has now expired. Hope everyone is happy with their new laptops!

    • Its still working. I think the Deal finishes on the 29th.
