    Kogan. No thanks

    • +2

Why not? I've used them on and off for years and they have been fine in Sydney.

      • Bold move to assume any company will still be in business in 2 years in this climate

      • +3

        Boost $150 sim for 12months.
160gb if ported in by end of March.
Kogan mobile $4.95 is a good deal as a hopper.
Moving around Melb and find Telstra via Boost much more stable.

Boost mobile is cheaper for the next 12months on the $150sim.

        • +3

          isn't it 120gb?

          • @CVonC: sorry. agree. Boost is with less data in comparison. but it is cheaper

        • I have nothing but trouble with Telstra around Melbourne, can't wait to switch back to Vodafone which was rock solid for me.

        • Its 80 GB plus 40 GB offer, 120GB (Boost)

      • I agree with @chinesejew, went on a Kogan 30 day pre-paid plan cpl mths ago, as for phone calls it was fine, their data though is beyond a joke. Kogan seem to have issues establishing a connection whenever browsing etc, yet Speedtest results look fine…

I also live in Sydney & work all around Sydney, had the issues everywhere so it's not a location thing…

Now with Catch (Optus) & everything back to normal..

        • +1

I'm the opposite, im in Melbourne and had no issues with kogan, just switched to catch a couple of weeks ago and find it a lot slower

          • +2

@shapers: funny thing is the actual speed was fine, it was the handshaking of the connection, more often than not around 5secs just to load Google.. Never had the issue with Optus..

In this day and age, 24 mths is a very long time to be tied to a prepaid mobile phone contract…

    • +7

Doesnt work out to be too much cheaper too

    • +1

Ya, this was my first thought. I'm on year 3 of Kogan via the year plans and while it's been totally fine, I'd never do 2 years.

We're at the cusp of a recession. Stuff will only get cheaper. Competion is going to heat up.

Much like buying a cheap cruise right now, it may technically be a deal and the best price ever, I wouldn't advise buying it.

I've been with them for 5+ years and counting and I've not run into a single issue with them.
Looking for another good deal now since my plan expires in 2 months. I need at least 40gbs a month (I don't have/need home internet since I live alone, so all my data is this 40gb, +the additional odd catch connect/kogan/pennytel 30/90 day plan now and then) and I haven't found another company who does this for much cheaper.

  • +3

Do they have them in EXTRA SMALL?
    Asking for a friend.

    • +1

only the EXTRA LARGE is enough for me…

      • edit* still not enough though dammit
  • Kogan mobile is on the Vodafone network. When i first got it about 9 months ago, it was average. i can live with it. in since Jan, it has been below average. constant buffering while listening to podcast. Just waiting for June to find another service provider

Where's the bargain listed? These are standard price and they usually go on sale for 40% - 50% off?

    • Yeah you are correct, looks like the standard price.

  • IIRC, there was a 2 for 1 offer in the past. I could buy that for the kids.

    • Yes, the BOGOF offer was great but they haven't done that in a while.

This deal is perfect for kids. Unlimited calls and texts fulfills the ability for parents to contact, and lots of data for them to message, Skype, game - when data is available!! 🤣

To be honest, I personally use Telstra. I've been with Vodafone in the past and it was terrible for data access outside cities, although phone/txt was fine.

  • A real cheap method in my opinion is the below.
If you don't mind sim hopping with Telstra via Belong and Vodafone via Kogan mobile, it can work out to be less than $5 per month.
*Belong $0 for a free simcard - setup via promo code for $20; setup on $10/month plan
    *$4.95 koganmobile vodafone deal.
    Port in and out

    • What's the offer? Got a link?
How much data comes with Belong?

Edit: I had a look at the $10 option and it only has 1Gb.. !!

Is that the one you mean?

      https://www.belong.com.au/mobile/plans

      • the belong sim is free. use it as long or as little as you like. port out the next day to kogan mobile. the pair of Belong and Kogan mobile with sim hopping can obtain you under $5 per month

  • Cheap and shit

    • This isn't cheap though. Kogan Mobile plans have actually been going up in price over the last couple of years which is a bizarre move.
