  • Damn, anyone wanna buy my r1700 so I can get these? =P

  • Why are Edifiers so popular on OzB? Have there been some outstanding reviews, somewhere?
I'm currently leaning toward AudioEngines, admittedly costing more, but it's not always about price.

      Certain cheaper (sub $200 e.g. R1280DB / R1700T / R1850DB) models have been received very well.
The expensive models are less popular (less feedback) since this is ozb.

    • The sound quality is good, as is the build quality.

However, I am a bit annoyed with the pair I have. Each time you turn it on, it goes into pairing mode automatically. Somehow it seems a neighbour managed to pair their phone with my speaker at some stage, and every once in a while there is music blasting from my Edifiers at full volume.

I asked Edifier how I can clear the list of paired devices from the speaker (basically wipe its memory) but they haven't been able to give meaningful help. They just tell me how to disconnect devices, but those devices can just connect again as long as the speaker "remembers" them.

Does anyone know how to "factory reset" an edifier 1200DB bluetooth speaker?

      • Does anyone know how to "factory reset"

Maybe just leave it unplugged from power for a few hours.

If that fails, maybe the neighbours phone is doing the remembering.

        • The neighbour's phone remembers it as paired, but I don't believe they would be able to connect if their phone was not registered by the speaker too. I believe a bluetooth devices maintains a list of known devices which it permits to connect.

Not the same model but I hope these are useful to you.

        Edifier R1700BT Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers

Push and hold volume control dial to reset Bluetooth pairing

Stranger connected to my bluetooth speakers, please help!

Bluetooth can be turned off by holding down the Volume knob on the side of the left speaker. May wanna give that a try, re-enable it after some time, attempt to pair to your device, and turn off bluetooth when not in use.

        • Thanks, much appreciated. I tried to push-and-hold, but it did not work. According to Edifier, it disconnects any currently paired device, but it does not seem to prevent them from connecting again. It simply boots them off. I have held it down for 15 seconds before. Even my own device (Google Home Mini) would happily reconnect to the speaker without requiring re-pairing. Maybe I'll try again.

          • @Make it so: If you can turn off the inbuilt Bluetooth and then purchase a plug-in Logitech Bluetooth reciever ($30) that way you.can have more control over who connects to your speakers;

Have you tried going to your neighbours house and having a quick chat with them?

        • I considered it. But I don't think they're aware it's happening. I think it sometimes happens by accident. If I tell them what's actually happening, they may start doing it on purpose. I already had to drop off a bag of unripe mandarins last weekend which their idiot kids had taken off their own tree and chucked across the fence into our garden. They may soon feature in an obargain forum thread :)

    • I have the s3000pro and compared to other offerings at the price I bought them at there wasn't anything better that I could find. I also looked at Audioengine speakers but they cost more than I was willing to pay at the time for similar specifications. Now that I have the Edifier's and have listened to them I wouldn't spend the extra money on Audioengine as I don't think it would be worth it for me personally.

Not sure about these speakers in the deal though. Going with Audioengine might be wise compared to getting these in this price range unless you really need a sub included.
