Maybe if you read the title you wouldn't have missed the word 'Shipped'.

As for warranty, it is up to you whether the savings of ~$20 is worth it or not. You need to consider the savings in proportion (15% from 135) to the cost of the item rather than just some arbitrary number. As for this product, it isn't a relatively expensive item and thus I'm willing to forfeit the warranty for cost savings.

      • Return shipment and hassle on an imported (relatively) low-priced item is not worthwhile, so, practically, this item is without warranty.
Warranty is part of a (local) item - it inseparable from the purchase and determines its (cost, and hence) price.
Comparing warranty-less item with a warranty is then not comparing the same products.

"have you consider the shipping fees on top from USA?"

Well OP did say $113 shipped, and if you looked at the link and add the SSD + shipping to Australia to the cart, it comes to USD$121, which is approx AUD$113. So it's a bargain in my books.

SSD tech is generally quite reliable with the current models, so warranty issues shouldn't be too much of a problem.

edit: woops, OP beat me to it :P

      • Thanks for that anyway :)

      • Looks like he negged the both of us lol

  • Or 2x 64Gb shipped for AU$197. Now more than $35 cheaper per item.

    • The shipping costs are very odd. If you go from 2 to 3 it's only an extra 60c USD. From 3-4 it jumps by a few dollars though. Nevertheless, the more you buy the cheaper the cost of one will be.

      • Yep, about to post something similar. 3 seems optimal, US$302.71 shipped, ~AU$95ea

    • +2
      • Same odd shipping cost structure for 128gb item. Buy 2 or 3 and the price is even more attractive.

    • Anyone in melb near CBD interested in doing a group buy or are buying one anyway , get a extra for me to save on shipping?
PM me thanks, will be interested in picking up one thx

      • Hey andy2 do you want to do a combine shipping?

        • are u guys want to buy as well?
I can organize for group buy, my email is [email protected]
I just want to share the postage so no more extra fees involve

      • I wanna get 1 as well

  • +9

To be fair though, I really like what kheob has tried to do here. A bargain is about price but it's also about the value of the item. This is slightly more expensive but much better value. So kudos!

And please no replies about how value and price are the same thing. They're not.

    • Cheers for that.

  • +1

thanks, i was actually at the crucial sites just a few hours ago, and comparing the corsair force 3 deals i found elsewhere as well.

Shipped to aust at this price is indeed attractive… i wonder if i would save more of i redirect it to a myus.com account that i've already have…

  • *Read Speed of up to 415MB/s
    This SOLD it for me…

    • -5

up to, but averages at 200-300

      • MSY's SSD …
        "Sequential Read: up to 270MB/s"

So i'd say the average as per your calculation is half, in other words it SUCKS compared to this… ;)

  • +1

    12 month+ warranty is worth 10 - 20% extra price IMHO
as SSD long term reliability is still of concern

    so not +ve or -ve

    • Pretty sure any SSD has at least 1 year warranty. :\

  • +5

These have recently had a firmware upgrade that has increased speeds by up to 20%.. incredible.

    • Does the firmware come shipped with the product or do you need to update it yourself?

      • +1

Since the firmware has just been released, you will have to update it.

Best do it before you have any data on the drive so you don't need to worry about losing data.

        • Cool. I'll be sure to do that when I receive it. Thanks to the both of you for the information.

  • +2

    True saving = $147 (PCG) - $113 = $34.

Good buy if you were already looking for a SSD.

  • +1

Good SSD have one in my lenovo x220

    • Yep it's going in my T520 :D

      • Im considerin it for the same:)
sidebar - when T520 is on my fan is ALWAYS running, not particularly loudly but audibly. Have you found the same?
Would installin a SSD have any effect on this?

        • Yeah it's definitely audible but my computer drowns it out :P. Haven't actually taken it out of the house yet though. I don't think an SSD will have any effect on the system fan.

        • Yes it could do. I found that when I put the SSD in my dell e6510 (and moved the original drive to the optical bay), there was a process that ran in the background constantly which used up 10-15% cpu (on a quad core). This meant that the cpu was never properly at idle and heated up making the fan spin constantly. I stopped this process and the issue went away with no negative effects. I think the service was IAStor or something? Check that out

  • O man was just about to check out, and no Pay Pal for Australia

    • So anyone from Sydney wanna buy me one aswell and i'll pay them $100!! works out cheaper

  • How does this drive compare with the ocz solid 3 with 500mb/s read and 450mb/s write. http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-22140521-OCZ_Solid_3_SATA_III_2_…

I purchased the 120gb model for $209 and it performs well.

This crucial drive may have high read speeds but thewrite speeds are pretty average… Compared with the ocz

  • This is weird. Was looking at this yesterday and decided to buy the 128gb that was posted last month on ozbargain. I wake up this morning and now see this post.
I bought this yesterday at 2pm and already have an email to say product has been posted.
    Good deal!

  • this would be perfect if it could write quicker the other deal had 240mbps i think whereas this goes to about 80mbps

    • +1

Yeah the higher the capacity the greater the write time is with these SSDs. I think the 128GB has 175MB/s write and this has 95MB/s write.

Having said that, the write speeds don't matter nearly as much as the read speeds.

    • +1

How often would you be writing to a 64GB SSD? I will install all my apps and that will be pretty much it. You don't want to be writing to SSDs all that much, read speeds are the most important.

      • +1

The OS writes all the time mate, especially 4k random. The 4k (non queued) random read speed is most important, followed by the 4k random write. Pretty much all SSDs are many orders of magnitude faster than a mechanical disk in those measures. This is why you really notice how fast your PC is when you chuck the OS on a SSD.

        • Well I was more talking about the sequential write speeds, which are slower on the 64GB. It's not like you are writing large files to an SSD all the time. I'm not anyway.

      • well i do HD recordings of gameplay with the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle, it requires at least 150mb for HD quality, but it is really good and crisp color, anything below will either cause it to crash whilst recording

    • Oh I've just realised you're talking about the MSY deal.

  • +1

I was going to order one of these for the last few days, it was going to be $123AUD shipped, then I checked last night and the price had dropped $9UDS, I so grabbed one for $113 shipped. It's shipped already, so I should get it in a few days. Awesome deal and like the OP says, way better than that MSY Patriot Torqx, which is supposed to be rubbish.

  • Seems like a pretty sweet deal for the quality of Crucial SSD.

Anyone want to combine shipping to Brisbane? It's quoting $34 for 4-6 day delivery at this point in time.

Considering ordering a couple of the SSDs and a memory card.

    • Count me in if you have not ordered yet,pm me through ozbargain

      • Sorry mate, had already have placed the order after waiting the day for a response.

Hope someone else is able to go in with you.

  • Fast Read speeds are great (fast boot and software loads), but one of the additional benefits of using an SSD as your System drive is that if you are using it for your Virtual Memory, fast write speeds also help speed up your system. With cheap memory these days, you may have enough to not have to worry about Virtual Memory.

Still this SSD at this price seems like a great deal.

  • In order to use the SDD. do we have to get a 2.5" to 3.5" converter? As i dont think my case have the 2.5" bay … can we use floppy drive bay?

    • I don't think it fits in the floppy bay. You could always just let it hang there or sit there, but you can buy cheap 2.5 to 3.5 bays on eBay.

  • Got this a few weeks ago from BH and loving it :))

  • If anyone in perth is looking to split shipping on either the 64Gb or 128Gb version please PM me so we can get an order out.

    • Hi mejutty, im in for half the cost of shipping, either drive will do. I can pickup from you in Perth CBD or Morley. Let me know. I cant PM you so email [email protected]. Thanks

      • Have sent an email. anyone else looking to jump in. Will go around $184-185 with another person. Leave details and will make contact.

        • hey mate count me in. PMing doesnt work. so Try and pm me through ozbargain :)

Looking at teh 128GB version :)

        • Leave me your detaisl and I'll send email

        • Count me in if it is not too late, thanks. [email protected]

    • OK we have our fill 4 people in Perth order placed.

  • If anyone in Melbourne is looking to split shipping on either the 128Gb version please PM me so we can get an order out.

    same here!

    • andy & dloeonseng above.
Not sure I can afford new drive. Just bought 2tb.

These things can only get cheaper.

      • I was suppose to get a corsair force GT, but if order more than 4 SSDs, its around 190 and its way cheaper than it. And, 190 is rly a great deal for a sata3 SSD

  • -5

Seems like a good deal, but man 95MB/s write is slow. Those reads are quite good, but just wish the writes were at least half as good as the reads. I won't give this a +ve as my $60 1tb hard drive gets similar writes.

    • Sequential writes. Average person wouldn't be writing large files on a regular basis, if ever, to an SSD.
It's fast for the important stuff, sequential reads and 4k read/writes.

  • Any idea how long shipping takes?

do you have any good credit card which not charge that much ?

  • Just got mine. Took a week (ordered last Friday).
