I love me a bargain like the next person but 5hrs of time outs I give up.
What crap, had 3 pairs in my cart for 2 hours but unable to checkout due to slow site and now they are sold out!!
They aren't sold out if you check the site they have just been put up to their original price in hopes people will cave in and buy them

These types of poorly organised sales are the kind that turn people off from buying the companies products again.

Word of advice… spend money on your website. Whilst it may be presumptuous of me I'd say that no one here will go through that a second time. I know I wont.
Thats a shame. We have spent loads on the site. Clearly not enough. We never planned for this sort of traffic. We will go make the improvements and hopefully have more great deals for the every one. Thanks again for the feedback.
If I like the shoes I did get and it doesn't take me 3 hours to complete an order (I'll settle for 3 minutes) I'll order again. If it begins to look like the current ordeal, though… pass.
I spent most of this morning refreshing and trying to pay via PayPal. By the time it got to PayPal the sale had stopped. Very disappointing and will take my money and time elsewhere. My first and last time.
Definitely need to spend more on your server. Have been shopping online for a while. Never had this problem with any other merchants (think about 12pm on CatchoftheDay! and 1-day). On the flip side, online store is no doubt the way going forward! Do more sales like this we will definitely log back on!

Sounds like CrashOfTheDay have lifted their game recently somehow? Those daily deal sites are usually no strangers to crashes caused by large number of traffic…
Early bird gets the worm. Some days are diamond and all. Every sale has to end at some point.

And the site still says
Availability: In stock
So if there is still stock shouldn't the sale still be on?
Little bit of ambiguity there…. just looked at the site, same stock = $35 now
Perhaps they were selling stock from a previous supply run?
Could also be that the supply hasn't been updated.
Either way, there is no law to decide when they can stop a sale.

Well yeah there is actually, the Trade Practices Act, 1974. They should have stipulated 'Limited Stock' right from the outset; not just 'limited time'! Great sale, and nothing against the company; but you've really got to think about how you word your marketing, lest some enterpising soul take issue through ACCC/FT channels! ;)
What we wanted to sell - we have sold. What is clear to us today that if we have more bargains and offers on Volley that we need to make further improvements to the site to ensure we can handle the demand. Cheers and thanks for the feedback in input - its really valuable.
Once you have switched to a real web hosting company, why not organise another $10 sale just for OzBargain?
I cannot believe a company as large as Pacific Brands would have such a flakey website!!
Their hosting is more then adequate for most day to day operations of the site. People here expecting them to run on the biggest cloud instances just for a once in a while sale. Its the shitty ozbargain mentality that some people have. They miss out on something and just bag the company who are the ones offering a great deal. Great way to say thank you to them …not.
Well, yeah, to an extent but if they want to have sales they need to be prepared. Noone is expecting an Amazon-esque setup (least noone reasonable) but it literally took me 3 hours to place an order (and that was after trying for an hour the night before). I can take delays in ordering but that… that was nasty. I have no idea why I persisted and when your setup is such that only utter nutbars will want to persist in ordering you've got issues. :)

No they are just sold out, those are the newer edition.
Just Spoke to them on the phone apparently the site had a melt down and they have withdrawn the sale for the moment. Will be reposted in a few weeks the lady said.
Sooo they went into the mountains of the internet, shouted "SALE!" and then turned their backs on the resulting avalanche. :)
I'm picturing an arm sticking out of the snow, twitching occasionally amidst the sticks, branches and rubble of the mountainside. :)

Quit the hating, its not unusual for a server to cripple under heavy traffic loads. Certainly nothing sinister.
Blame the folks checking out with 10 pairs of shoes in their cart, not Volley for offering a great deal.
Now I feel bad for posting the bargain. Pacific Brands must be unprepared to get bombed by many orders in less than 24 hours.
P.S. I Hope I get something from Pacific Brands for helping them clearing their stock ;)
