Quality wise, how are they compared to AS colour/Uniqlo?

    • +3

No experience with either but I find them to be great quality and wear very well

    • Great question, I am also keen to know this

    • +1

These are better than Uniqlo, not sure about As colour.

    • +25

As someone who just dropped $160 on as colour due to ozbargainer high praise, I can confidently say I’m never buying as colour again lol.

The fit is decent, but the material is very thin. The white ones are pretty sheer even compared to the Kmart $8 shirts.

Going to get some more uniqlo $20 100% cotton shirts next time I go past one.

      • +6

Was that staple or classic? I normally go the heavy.

        • +10

          I got a mix of

          Staple
Staple organic (someone said it’s a slimmer fit)
          Ringer

I just bought a white one of this Tommy shirt, I like their polos, I guess why not the shirts too. See if this will show through my generous dark dinner plate pepperoni nips.

          *
For the record I will say, their ribbed singlet is by far the most luxurious feeling singlet I’ve ever worn.

Wonder how it will hold up in real life (working, leisure and exercise)

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: I bought a bunch of AS Colour classics a while ago and had to give them away to a super skinny dude at work because they’re way too tight around the shoulders/armpits. I’m quite broad but don’t have the same issue with Uniqlo or Kmart shirts in the same size (M).

            • @alcadive: Interesting
I normally wear m in Kmart and Uniqlo, but recently have sized down to s for a tighter fit.

              I’m relatively skinny build though

Damn, that's a shame. I've been mainly wearing the staple tees alongside Uniqlo Supima cotton and like both.

I've just picked up a classic tee and a Uniqlo U cotton tee when it was on sale for $15 - will see how they both go.

      • +5

Yep disappointed with AS colour. Bought a few heavy GSM shirts and after only a handful of wears the neck is getting stretched out.

        • 1 wash for me and the heavy tee neck was wrinkled (also made sure to cold wash). pretty disappointing tbh

      • +1

I’ve planned to go to an AS Colour store to check out their shirts (have bought some in the past and they’ve been holding up ok). Disappointed to know they’re no longer the same, but thanks for saving me a trip.

      • Uniqlo is definitely better quality. I am still wearing 10 year old tees that get washed every week.

        • No shape though, just baggy and generic, but been meaning to go in for a look again one day. Wouldn't be the same quality now anyway.

        • 10 year old

They definitely make stuff a lot better back then. I got Uniqlo shirts from 2016-2018 when I went through a Uniqlo renaissance phase that been through heaps of washes now, still great lol

      • should've bought classic

      • but the material is very thin. The white ones are pretty sheer even compared to the Kmart $8 shirts

This doesn't match my experience. I have a wardrobe full of T-Shirts from everywhere you can think of and AS Colour is the thickest of the lot. They also hold their shape the longest.
I'm wearing one right now, AS Color Block. No idea the difference of the different types, but it's solid.

        • How much is an AS tee and how many years they last?

          • @G-rig:

How much is an AS tee and how many years they last?

I got mine from TK Maxx for $20ea. Longevity will depend heavily on how often you wear it and what you do while wearing it I guess

            • @1st-Amendment: Yeah doesn't sound like Aus but will look em up one day

              • @G-rig: TK Maxx?

They have heaps of stores here.

                • @1st-Amendment: Ok prob in Syd. Enough of those generic brands around, just have to find something that suits and stick to it.

      • Everything I've bought from ASColor has sucked. I tried to make it work and missed the return dates. Never again.

    • +1

In terms of polo brands, TH is better then uniqlo but not as good as ben shernan. Ive never heard to AS colour.

    • +1

i have both, as colour are better by a considerable margin. hilfiger did not hold up over time.

      • How much as? More than $22?

  • Is it body hugging or normal fit ?

    • +3

Not body hugging but snug. Mainly around my arms/shoulders.

    • +2

Would agree. Not a slim fit but not baggy. I'm a medium normally and these are perfect. If you're in between size i'd size up though

    • +2

      I'm a "big guy"
      6ft2 105 kgs

I work out a bit but I am by no mean ripped.

      These fit great.
I go the XXL and wear them to work, somehow the Tommy Hilfiger logo makes it OK to wear a tshirt in the office

  • +1

    Cut looks too short 😞

    • Yeah the cut is short

  • -1

    Bargain thanks

How is this even a deal? They are $19 on OzSale

      Plus $9.99 shipping

  • +4

Bought them a few years ago on an Amazon sale. I normally wear L. Needed XXL in these. And over time they started to get a bit loose and sack like. I’ll stick with Uniqlo supima cotton.

This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location.

    GTFO Amazon. That's twice today. It's a T-shirt FFS.

    • +1

Saved money on a house, can't save money on other things. You win some you lose some.

      • Saved money on a house

        I wish.

  • OzBargain'd again

    • Looks available in plenty of sizes / colours still to me

      • Yes, I just got a medium white. The rest was there too.

        • May try a medium too, apparently they shrink. Amazon free returns,
Wonder which is the better black, jet black or sky captain (which looks darker)? Maybe one of each.

Those uniqlo look decent quality, just baggier I assume.

      • +1

Looking for XXXL which is OOS

  • +1

Size up. They shrink a lot in the wash.

  • +2

I'm really surprised there's a lot more people saying these shirts have better quality than Uniqlo. I find these to be the opposite. I own 3 of these shirts and quality is so shit for me.

One of the shirts were bought from Tommy Hilfiger Outlet Store at the Harbour Town in Gold Coast. Other one was from OZSALE, and the last one was from Catch. All the same quality.

My uniqlo shirts have been far more superior in terms of quality than these, they shrink and the fabric is so thin. Only upside to this is the stitching around the neck, they reinforced it so it doesn't stretch over time, but other than that, Uniqlo is far more better.

    • The ones I have already have been great. I got them from an outlet in LA though so not sure if they're different. Been wore regularly for a couple of years and still have plenty of life

  • These are now becoming a K-Mart brand now hey?

    • +1

Why is this downvoted? Even if these tees are good at this price, it doesn't change that this brand is becoming Kmart tier.

  • Didn’t find anything coming close to ‚Need Essentials‘ T-Shirts.

  • +1

Literally already one of my favourite shirts! Thank you I bought 6 haha

These are great if you are a bodybuilder. Really tight around arms and chest. Would like them a little longer but still long enough if you get a size up.

  • +1

    Got mine delivered today
Will give it a go tomorrow

Initial thought, the stitching quality visually looks a bit soso for something that has such a high rrp. Will see how it goes for sheerness/ feel.

  • The black can't be shipped to my location, but sky captain colour can. Amazon as gone to shit, most stuff I go to buy there these days can't be shipped. I'm on the coast only a few hours from Sydney it's not like I'm at the back of Bourke.

    Anyone else experiencing the same?

    • Nah fine for metro.
The sky captain looks better anyway but will see (got one of each).

Maybe just go to Kmart and get one (if people are saying they are the same quality).

    • only a few hours from Sydney it's not like I'm at the back of Bourke.

Bourke is 'only a few hours' from Sydney. If you live remote you can't expect the same services as living in a major centre.

  • +3

    Wear test today

Material feels smoother on skin compared to Kmart (good start)

Nipple visibility for white shirts for my dark skin pepperoni nip brothers is probably still a 7/10. Better than the as colour ones, but the uniqlo 100% cotton ones are still king on this front

Would I buy it again for $21.99 - yeah , but prob just black or navy

  • 2/4 shirts turned up so far - one wasn't even sky captain, but navy. One is an inch longer almost (other one better).

Still a pretty good fit and fine for the price.

  • +2

$20 in white for Small, Medium and XXL.
Received my medium a few days ago and happy with the shirt.

  • The quality has dropped over the years, no longer a fan of them anymore.

    • No doubt, but still ok for around $20. They should still last a while hopefully.

Those Lacoste polos from Amazon aren't anything that good either for $60.. thin. Wide in the waist but will still get a few years out of them. Wouldn't buy another one though, bit like these tees.
