    Prices can exceed face value

    aka: legalised scalping

    • +5

Capped at 20%. But most are under face value. Personally I think TM Resale is great for sellers and buyers. It’s guaranteed to be legit tickets for little or no mark up

  • -3

Not surprised people are getting rid of their tickets as it is not likely to be much of a match…

    • +2

It could go 5 sets and remarkable if Thiem keeps his momentum

    • +10

Have you even watched Thiem play? He's played some fantastic tennis, it should be a great contest tonight.

      • -2

Of course I have. They all play "fantastic tennis". I'm not happy about the likelihood of Djokovic winning, but the market is obviously telling us something the Thiem fanboys don't want to accept.

        • +4

If the market was always correct there would be no market.

        • +2

Not a fan of Thiem but he beat Rafa easier than expected. I'd give him a chance.

          • @aligind4h0us3: Exactly. Beat the world no.1

So many upsets this tournament, hopefully turns out to be an excellent match.

        • +3

Doesn't sound like you know much about tennis or gambling… It's the Djokovic fanboys setting the market.

          • +1

@TEER3X: He has won 7/7 Aus open finals, I'd say history has a lot to do with it, not fan boys.

        • Why don’t people like Djokovic?

          • @CandyMan: I 'm not a fan at all and don't even know why. Love Federer and Nadal and would love for Thiem to beat him tonight.

          • +1

@CandyMan: The clinical nature of play mainly, can be very serve, volley, repeat. Fans like a bit of flair/change - strategy adapting players.

He knocks out more crowd favorites at big tournaments than just about anyone else, so get's remembered as the guy that took out their fav.

Not his fault, he's just so good at hard court and particularly this tournament (just look at the stats)

Will Thiem take it to him tonight? If anyone can keep up tonight, it's him, but he will have his work cut out.

Here's hoping for a nailbiter 5 setter with it all (but in all reality probably DJ in 4 after dropping a set to a tiebreak, or straight sets)

            • +1

@John Dough: So he is people’s anti hero !
Considering how much money he earns I don’t think he would care that much

          • +4

@CandyMan: Because he keeps eating everyone's pet GOATs.

    • Next minute, Thiem wins

    • +6

Thiem has won 4 out of the last 5 against Joker.

      • +3

3 of the 4 wins were on clay - Them is the second best clay court player in the world - and the other one was at an end of season event that often produces odd results - last 3 winners Dimitrov, Zverev, Tsitsipas.

I doubt Djokovic will lose a set.

        • You should bet $10k for 3:0, you'll be rich after the game.

          • @Jamesx: Only <20K richer. At 5-1 it would be a solid bet, but 2.8-1 is very short considering Thiem's recent form at the open.

        • Currently eating their words

    • They've played each other 10 times, Djokovic has won 6 and Thiem 4. Thiem has won the last 2 including the Semi Final at last years French Open.

      • +1

Hard court grand slam results are only really relevant here.
This type of analysis in Tennis does rarely works and will not give much indication of how tonight will go.

It does say one thing, Thiem knows he CAN beat DJ on the right day.
But can he do it at Rod Laver on a cool night, hard court after the harder road so far and less rest then DJ between last game?

    • +1

Really good match. Thiem is doing very well

      • +1

I agree. If Thiem wins this I'll be very happy to eat my words!

        • +1

I never liked Djokavic; can't believe he touched the umpire and told the crowd to f'ing shut up.

For once Kyrgios is right when he said Novak has an obsession with wanting to be liked as much as Roger

        • My brain goes “Ding dong” … Uber eats

        • You should be eating your words regardless. You said not going to be much of a match, couldn't be more wrong.

          • @TEER3X: Don't worry, if it went the way I (and basically every sports journo) predicted I'd be shoving your face in it too. Enjoy the hubris.

            • @xyron: I never said anything as bold as you did though.

It's a two horse race, both are exceptional players, game isn't over, but it was never going to be 3-0 Djokovic.

or pay close to a grand on Gumtree.

    • Prob could be cheaper on gum tree lots of people who just want to get rid of tickets

  • +1

im surprised how many tickets seem available

    • +2

Don't be - the number of Chinese ticket buyers has increased significantly from last year (I think I read ~70%). Since Chinese tourism to Australia has significantly reduced in the last month, it is very likely the tickets are resold by tour operators or by those who couldn't come from China.

      • +2

China, the problem and solution to all of life's problems.

They panned around the stadium during the last match I watched on TV and the thought that came into my head was, crikey most of those seats have a terrible viewing angle.

Basically everything that isn't close to in line with the net is no good.

    • +7

LOL at equating a brief wide-angle camera pan to the experience of actually sitting inside the stadium 😂😂😂

    • +6

Totally wrong. Pretty much great viewing from everywhere. Was in a corp box right at the back behind the baseline and still perfect viewing. Stadium not that large.
Don't judge it by how it looks on TV.

    • +1

TV coverage is from behind the baseline so this is obviously the better angle to watch tennis.

    • +5

I take it you never went to a match at RLA.
Viewing is awesome from pretty much any seat.
