  • I bought this AV receiver without speakers for $475 from Harvey Norman just a couple of weeks ago.

It is a very good AV receiver. If you are going to get it, get some better speakers!

So… this isn't that great of a deal IMO

sheeeesh…. they guy just spent almost $1K…. Do you take dummies off babies too?

        the truth hurts sometimes :)

    • Was it a super special price you got it for $475?? I want one at that price!! Not at ~$900 tho…hahaha

      • Brisbane City Harvey Norman had it for $520 and I bargained them down to $475.

      • Not at ~$900 tho

        don't forget….. the $475 did not include speakers…..

        $900 = receiver + 7 speakers and a sub

The speakers included in that package are small and probably not that great, I'm sure you would find equivelant speakers for less than $425!

I bought 5 Dream Acoustics speakers ($320 delivered) and a subwoofer ($160 delivered) from eBay - $955 total for receiver, speakers and subwoofer. That's these ones:

Can you really compare the $899 package to my setup?

I totally agree with alexme!! I actually bought the DREAM Acoustics speakers (X900) + subwooder (a MASSIVE 15") myself (about 3-4 yrs) ago and they are still running like a "DREAM"!! (punt intended) :P

I am just looking for a bargain amp that can drive those babies. I currently have them hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V557. Always wonder would a new amp make any difference on the quality of the sound…

        • oops andy19363…didnt know about the speakers.

But they are those tiny speakers tho….can't compare to my Dream Acoustics tallboys 5.1 setup…

Always wonder would a new amp make any difference on the quality of the sound…

If you have problems with sound quality…… I'd be looking to change my speakers…..

  • Yamaha speakers are far better than Dream Acoustics, which are comparable to 'white van' quality. So no, you can't really compare the $899 package to the Dream V6 setup.

    • Lol… beat me to it
Dream acoustics are both very tall… and very loud….. neither of which is necessarily a good thing….
EBay is now the 'white van' of cyberspace

    • Dream Acoustics may not be "the best" but if you had them you would know that they are actually pretty decent, at least my ones are anyway.

There is no way those little speakers can compete with larger speakers (dream acoustics or otherwise), they just can't.

      • There is no way those little speakers can compete with larger speakers

They certainly can't compete with the tall-ness and loudness of your speakers…. but people don't generally buy speakers based on those qualities…… (or maybe they do??)

This package comes with RX-V567 and there is a new range out already, not too sure how much the new range going to cost though. I remember reading reviews that mention that RX-V667 better worth for money then the 567.

    • yes the 667 is a very big jump over 567 in terms of output stage and powersupply. would've been my pick too

How would it compare to the Samsung HT-D6750W?

On paper the Samsung seems better, and you can get it new for $625.
