    Or if you want multi-flavour 10x 28gram packs (x2 for $9.80, for 20 serves at woolworths) https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/299946/red…

    • That’s right. At Woolworths this wk’s catalogue starting Jan 29, 2 x $9.80 for the 10 multi-pk of variety flavours, or $5.50 each.

The 5 pks are $4.65 each, only sold in Woolworths and Coles. Or $2 for $7. But only in Honey Soy Chicken or Sweet Chilli & cream. They don’t sell the plain (Sea Salt) anymore, in this variety.

Am I reading something wrong here? Do you only get 5 small packs (28g) of red rock for $22? So in essence 140gm of red rock for $22? Arent the large 170gm packs on sale every month or so for around $2.50 or something like that?

Or is it saying you get 40 packs of chips?

    • -1

      40 x 28g (8 boxes)

      • Maybe you should add that to your post.

      • 28g per baby serve?
I thought 5x28g can hardly be called a serve.

  • +1

    . (5x 28g) - 40 Single Serves

Eh? Is that 8 big packets, with 5 little packets in each big packet? (8 x 5 = 40)

    • -1

      40 x 28g (8 boxes)

    • and approx, 10 to 12 chips in each 28g pk.

  • 40 serves? and theres 5 serves per box? so…. is this for 8 boxes of 5, or…?

    • -1

      40 x 28g (8 boxes)

  • Just to clarify, you should get 40 x 28g (8 boxes)

  • that is one very expensive potato!!!!

  • Bargain….. :\

  • +2

this price makes the equivalent price for a "big" (150g) bag of chips as about $3 or just under

    • Its like buying a big 1 l coke vs a small can. Convenience.

  • +7

    So 1.120kg for $22. Or $1.96/100g

Woolies has the 290g for $3.50. Or $1.21/100g

Buy the packet from woolies, dish them out into ziploc bags (10 serves in the above).
Get the kids to bring home the ziploc bags to reuse. You’re way ahead (and so is the environment if you care about such things).

    • +1

can you actually teach kids that kinda stuff?

      • +2

Yep, I'm with supabrudda. Buy a few big packs locally and save on food miles and shitty plastic packaging. It's a great deal for the environment.

      • -1

No ziploc comes home, no screens go on. Teaching through denial.

        • don't have kids yet, and i'm studying psychology, but i'm still not convinced, but it gives me hope

          • +3

@bailbondsh: Start them young, don't buy the other packets and thus they have only 2 options; Chips in a bag, or No chips.

It works with biscuits, popcorn, preztels, lollies, etc

Mostly i give them homemade popcorn, take extra for their mates, suddenly it's wanted, because their friends like it.

        • -1

That's even cheaper. "If you don't bring the ziplock bag home, no chips next time"

          • +1

@haydent: The retained oil within the bag (from previous use) just adds to the 'tangy' flavour! :-)

  • The salted version of these is insanely salt. Don't understand how anyone can eat it.

    • +1

      you sound salty

      • +1

        I think Tor is! 😆

        • He's eating too much dairy………..

  • So much packaging, such a waste, and pointless freight.

    • It’s not really a ‘waste’. Why doesn’t RRD, make the pks “Red Cycle” for recycling, like their “Deluxe Crisps” range?.. That would be saving on the environment.

      • That and the individuals behaviour. Excess packaging only favours maximising price for the wholesaler and retailer under the guise of offering choice, irrespective of the portions the consumer likely consumes. Plenty of little kids gouge themselves on cherry tomatoes and it took us a while to convince the supermarket to offer them in a simple bag greater than 250 grams (or $15 per kg) for example.

        • Ahh, c’mon. You never convinced them. So don’t take credit for yourself, troll. They (the supermarkets) have their own marketing people of how to package stuff as well.

The small packs are for kids lunchboxes, as well as proportion sizes. So u think eating a whole pack or half a pack of 165g chips in one sitting is healthy, or good for your healh⁉️ C’mon…. 🙄..😏

          • @INDYVADER: Us as in We as in Community. Grow up.

            • @cornbeef: It seems that YOU need to grow up. Especially talking about little kids. At least I state of what is done, and should be done.

  • I wish I was your tree, lads.

  • The 5 pks are normally $4.65 each, and only sold in Woolworths and Coles. Or 2 for $7, when on special. (Generally at Woolworths, they always are!!) But only stock them in Honey Soy Chicken or, Sweet Chilli & Cream. They don’t sell the plain (Sea Salt) anymore, in this variety.

So when taking the 2 for $7 x 4 = $28, even if Woolies or Coles had the Sea Salt ones…. this Amazon deal is still good. What if u only want the plain Sea Salt?… Many don’t like the flavoured ones.

Also, you’ve got to know what the “Use By” date is on the box. As it doesn’t mention on this item / product.

PS. I know many people who buy these 5 pks. Not just for the convenience, but proportion sizes too.
