sadly, a lot of their local people are buying them in crates to prey on international buyers at ebay

    • nvm

  • Hopefully there will be an influx of these on Ebay so the prices are pushed to near what they were sold for… Would love to get one of these for PDF magazines :)

Comment re using Australian credit-card to purchase in the US:-

[Caveat: Rather than being authoritative info, this is more 'informed speculation' based on my positive experience of successful transactions - via Commbank issued Mastercards. I'm keen to hear opinions of others in this regard to confirm or dispute veracity.]

In the US it seems that banks use a credit card user's "billing address" as a key security check to assist in verifying that the person processing the transaction is the credit-card's authorised user.

Australian banks don't use this same verification system.

It seems to me therefore that in the process of an online system requesting the card-issuer to authorise a transaction, when they electronically ask for confirmation of the data in the billing address fields, Australian banks will always respond to these particular fields with a positive confirmation - regardless of the details entered. Rather the Australian banking system users others fields for verification.

So, in the incidences above, where users have had issues in continuing with purchase processes because their Australian billing address has been rejected, I suspect you could enter any US billing address and it would still get a positive confirmation/authorisation from the card issuer in Australia.

This has been my experience on a number of occasions. However I have had the advantage of being able to use the home address of a family member in the US. This has minimised risk to me of any delivery problems. (I've never had a delivery problem but just speculate that one could arise if someone queried why delivery address was different to billing address.)

This logic has also enabled me to verify a US address for eBay/PayPal for use in purchases where purchaser will not send to an unverified account/address.

I'd be much more cautious about using this approach if I didn't have a friend of family member in the US whose address I could use for verification.

  • Watch HNs Twitter… They'll post when they have more info.

  • I think we should wait for the sales from HN :) I hope they have similar sale soon. This is gonna be crazy sales, I've got core i7 from HN + Amex $50 rebate so this should be my next best buy :)

  • sold out now, couldn't get any due to HP's website screwing up.

  • Just had some success here. http://www.amazon.com/HP-FB356UT-QUALCOMM-Snapdragon-Wireles…
You'll need to be quick and use a shipping agent.

    • its $495.99. are you serious??

      • EDIT: Seller onSale has the 32gig version again for 149.99. They probably will sell out quickly so you need to be really quick. If it is listed at $495 then check the right hand side of the page and look for seller onSale in the the More Buying Choices section. Good luck I really hope you guys manage to get one!

        • wow!! Heap thanks!!

    • wont ship to my adress, so what are the best ways to buy? i heard hopToShop is crap.

  • As much as it would be pretty cool to get one so cheap
HP have ended the development of WEB OS
SO whay buy something that will have NO more APPS developed for it
    Sorry but ID pass anyway

    • They haven't ended development of webOS. No body knows what's going to happen with it, especially now that there's an additional instant 100,000 consumers (or more)…. They've stopped only on the hardware side of things… As everyone else has said, it will only be a matter of (short) time before hackers get Android onto it, if that's what you're after.

    • can any1 buy from PcMalllGov

its asking for my agency business Chanel and weird stuff

  • -1
    • Back up to $415 on link

  • wow 99 for a 16gb 1ghz capacitive tab… incredible, however webos and no 3g are kind of a killer =[

    • u need to go to oztight. not ozbargain. :p just buy a mobile wifi hotspot and u will be fine. For $99 can u really complain?

  • +1

Hey if we buy on Amazon and ship to comgateway, what should be the name of the buyer? My name or Comgateway?

    • +1

I should think that you put your name there. That was what I did (hopshopgo though). Also, it would make more sense to put your own name seeing that it allows comgateway to know that the order was for you.

  • Why are you guys linking to Amazon? I can't get it to send are you guys getting it to work?

    • No it says item cannot be shipped to this address via amazon

How can i get this item for less that $100??

    • +2

You have to use a shipping service that ships it from US to AUS. Examples include vpost australia, comgateway, hopshopgo.

  • 16gig ordered, shipping to shipito! Yay!

  • does it have microsd?

  • prices for Amazon have gone back up :(

  • wow prices on amazon just rose..

  • Wow, sold out and it is now handle by another seller.
Just bought the 16G and 32G version ready for Christmas time gift.
I bought these in hope that the xda group can come up with a Honeycomb port for this touchpad.

Have been looking at various solutions to buy this touchpad. Fortunate enough to have a USA relative address.

Received my EEPad Transformer this morning from Amazon. Very nice machine with Honeycomb 3.1.

  • Done with ComGateway. If anyone knows any vendors that have better shipping rates and services plz share. For me it's ok with ComGateway (used to get perfume via them).

    • +2

ComGateway service is bad i think, they take a long time to tell you when they recieve your package and then also to send out your item.

Shipito are much better and offer DHL, FedEX, USPS and their own service so you have much more of a choice for the shipping price.

There is also MyUS if you have an American Express, i have not used them yet so do not know what theur service is like however so far with the welcome email they sent it seems good.
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/48698

      • Yeah Shipito's service seems to be better; shipping rates are higher though. You get what you pay right?

      • +1

MyUS seems to be expensive than ComGateway / HopShopGo.

I ordered with HopShopGo, as I didn't know any better…

  • No luck finding 1 fir me =[

    • dont worry. im sure amazon will try and sell the rest of the stock soon. or some other sellers might.

  • Is there any shops selling it now? how can i get one for this price..help pls…

    • No. but relay. as soon as there is im sure some one will post it up here. so keep checking back. but u need to be quick.

  • Man, this is annoying, i bought the 99 dollar one on HP, put it in my cart, trying to figure out this posting this thing. Finally figured it out and used HopShopGo and now the price rose.
    Great

Just had a glimpse of hope here: http://www.costcentral.com/proddetail/HP_TouchPad_Tablet/FB4…

About 7000 left in stock (if you can get to the website…)

    • thax, mate. I rather keep clicking on the refresh button than having nothing lol

    • THANK YOU SO MUCH. After about 20 minutes of refreshing I managed to get an order through for 2x 16GB tablets, with $5 shipping for each.

    • Just completed my order at CostCentral… hope it goes well…

  • Seriously, if there are so many people buying this 99 tablet pc, im sure someone will develop something for it

    • If only we can root to Android… Make the best of both worlds. But you guys think it's possible?

      • +1

Well some russians or americans will develop something out of it, i mean 99bux for a 16 gb, cant compalin, u can use it for a digital photoframe worst comes to worst lol. But im sure the russians or the europeans are up to something

        • Or at worst I have some smooth mouse-pads. Can't complain with the price. Fingers crossed.

    • That's what they said about symbian :)

      symbi-what?

  • +2

HP claims it was not selling well and now it is selling like hot cake :)

    • But that's after a crazy price reduction of $300-400 of the RRP….LOL

      • shows you how much they make lol…

      • All HP's reputations have gone. No way to justify their conduct this time.

    • CEO should be fire and force to take a lesser pay check. What on earth is he thinking. All he need to do is to drop the price down and this will stimulates developement as there are so many users taking up the offer. This will save HP face and reputation.

  • Just scored one 16GB for $99…had it in my cart when the price rose…lucky…hope they accept my order.
Already paid for it (at $99). Used comsgateway.

    • Where did you order from? :)

      • Sorry, forgot to mentioned -> "Amazon"

        • Same here. From onSale rite? They said my items will be shipping soon…

        • I think it was from "onsale"…
As a side note, it's "funny" (no offence to the ppl who missed it..) to see supply & demand in action LOL

        • You know what, the English borrowed the word "black market" from the French long long long time ago (marche noir if my memory serves); it would happen in this situation (as always when supply doesn't meet demand). Indeed. And arbitragers FTW.

  • i cant find it on amazone, any links?

  • Price went upto 415

  • Cost central

every site with stock is crashed now

  • Only if somebody hacked Android into this tab…. then it would be future proof!

  • +2

Would love to grab one for development purposes, had some apps ready to go for aussies and was waiting for launch to grab a tablet - test - release

    Anyone got stock for cheap?

seems to be working, obviously you'll need a U.S address
not sure what qualifies one as a Corporate Company to buy from them …
plus they haven't charged my CC yet …

  • +1

This is a shame as I was looking forward to the WebOS. It has so much potential and unsure why HP with $$$ at it hands suddenly forgoes this venture.

    • cuz they have lost their head. CEO's sit in their office chairs and make stupid decisions.

"TouchDroid" is being developed as we speak!

    http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=3327&s=9441317e034bdd1…

    • Two thums up. In both hands.

  • Cost central has sold all of their touchpads

    • +1

looks like after 20mins of constant refreshing I loose….

      • +1

I never managed to get one into my shopping cart either

  • +1

Anyone else not having any Cost Central orders showing up on their account?

This is really dodgy, and it looks like our orders may have been cancelled.

  • Maybe Mobicity will fire sale these in oz. I rang them earlier today and they said to keep checking the website over the next few days.

    • +2

yes they will fire sell them for $350 probably. they are always ridiculously overpriced

      • I just talked with their livechat, they say they are waiting for conformation from suppliers

    • Or else buy it for eound 250-300 on Ebay.

  • Why BigW, Harvey Norman and the like have not mention anything on this matter. I am sure the Touchpad is in Australia.

    • cuz its exclusive to harvey Norman

    • They are trying to return it I assume. Otherwise a huge huge huge loss.

      • HP should refund a portion to HN so that they could have another fire sale as there is no point in taking these back to America. I expect another fire sale is on the card here in Australia.

  • Waiting and hoping the dust will settle on these. There will be loads of flippers on ebay in the coming week.

Don't mind paying a small markup on ebay. Say extra $50 on top of fire sale prices, but prices still high there at the moment…

    • it will be closer to $200.remember that its $99 +$40 shipping to aus. so a markup of $50 is closer to 200

    • Say extra $50 on top of fire sale prices, but prices still high there at the moment…

That is impossible, the shipping from USA to Australia will cost $50 or more.

16GB will cost $150 to get to Australia and the 32GB will cost $200

If people here in Australia have got them to sell on ebay you need to include the ebay fees, paypal fees and Australian postage fee.

Selling the 16GB on ebay for $200 + $10 postage allows the seller to make $35
Selling the 35GB on ebay for $250 + $10 postage allows the seller to make $32

So you will be paying $100 more than the selling price in America.

  • +1

News is about to get out, HP wont be taking the Aus stock back. They have just made an arrangment with HN's to clear out the Touchpad stock.

Harvey's will be selling these at ** $149 ** from TOMORROW! Not sure whether they will spend money on advertising or not considering its a clearout. CALL UP NOW and preorder it / get one on hold. They won't last long gauging how they have been selling out in the US!

You heard it from me first!

    • Called HN Moorepark and they said HP were taking them back… the sales guy seemed quite annoyed as well… :|
