How is this a deal? Why should I buy this product from a company I've never heard of other than based on a couple of YouTube videos that it's entirely possible they paid for?

    • they legit.

    • Your name is slash… and you think you know everything in guitar world, huh?

Close. My name is Slashee. I'm a Cow. And I'd like to play the guitar, but they are really not made to be played with hooves, so I'm not that good at it. But I know you can get an amp for less than $300, so I was wondering why it was so unique and/or deal-worthy.

  • Thanks, this looks interesting - I'll give one a go.

  • I already put in my order for one a few weeks ago at the cheaper price…not sure if I will regret it though! The Positive Grid tones are supposedly quite good according to friends that use the tablet equivalents…but the issue I have with the spark is that it doesn't have a line out - therefore it's not at all suitable for live use as the amp/cab itself is quite small. It's much the same idea as the Line 6 Amplifi series which failed miserably - I have an Amplifi 150 which was never loud enough for gigging and has the same 4 tone presets available on the unit and requires a phone/tablet to program the sounds…no line out so it can't be used for monitoring while feeding through a desk, etc. As far as modelling goes, there are a lot of OK modelling amps available which are likely a heck of a lot more versatile than this…not sure of quality of tones available but I suggest for the same price you could probably pick up a Fender, Vox, or other modelling amp which is a lot more versatile…. If much more to spend the Line 6 Helix or AmpFX gear with a wide range amp is definitely the way to go…

Plus I'd worry that they're bound to stop supporting the app sometime and once they do and you eventually can't run it on your iPhone XXS Pro Super Max+ then it becomes a lot less useful, whereas a good old fashioned non-app-enabled amp will give you a pretty decent life, if you treat it right.

Not that that stopped me buying a PS4 controller that has its own app, but I don't have to be happy that that requires an app but some of my other fancy controllers can be reconfigured from the controller. Although because they're made by Razer half of those have broken anyway, so whether my Raiju stops working before the app does is still TBD.

  • I dont have mine yet ( there are video reviews out though) so i cant say for sure how amazing it will be … but…

Positive GRID pro bias is the only amp sim that legitimatly competes with AXEFX and Kemplar … its considered prob better than a Helix.. all of which are 2-3k.
( if none that means anything to you .. its basically like buying a ferrari for the cost of a normal car)

The app and speaker review are so far very good ( but by youtube people so who really knows)

The company only does amp sims ( as already has other much more expensive well reviewed hardware)

It will be about $1000 most likely in the shops when they start stocking it here.

This is an amazing deal … i logged in for the first time in 5 years just to make this post.

Ok some things its not … a super loud speaker … made for performance with a typical line out .. and fully customisable without the app.

    • I pre-ordered this myself a few weeks ago. I need to double check but I thought I spent more than this offer. Positive Grid have excellent amp sim software. Their Bias 2 software is the ducks nuts of amp Sims. I've had and do have plenty of amps and for this price and the promise of what it can do I thought it would be worth a shot.

Edit: Just checked and with my Credit Card it came to Aus $382.67 delivered.

    • I wanted to buy this, but I'll be holding off until it's been properly reviewed. It's their first venture into making this type of amp, and they're notorious for just leaving products in the dust and releasing new ones (Jamup).

As you said I really enjoy Positive Grid software, but their business model heavily focuses on inner-app-purchases with most of those not carrying over to new released versions and often leaving the old versions behind (IE. purchase a bunch of fender amps/effects etc in Jamup, then BIAS FX gets released, then BIAS FX 2 gets released… same with Bias AMP - and some times you're just completely stuffed like Jamup). I personally have no issue with this - as long as the software they release is cutting edge and actually adds improvements (ie. not like a FIFA update haha). I'm seriously impressed with BIAS Amp 2.0 on iOS.

Having said that - if you're on to it from the release then you should be fine. I'll buy Bias FX 2 (for iOS) when it first gets released, because it shouldn't be surpassed at least for 1 year.
