    NOT SUITABLE FOR AUSTRALIA!
    voltage
Q: will it work in an 220 volt environment like Australia?
A: The Nostalgia Electrics Stainless Steel Electric Fondue Pot is made for 120 volt environment only.
    in Q&A "Voltage"

In general overseas cooking appliances designed for a different voltage will not work in Australia! They draw a lot of current, so transformers are bulky & expensive to transform the voltage.

Only Amazon review from Australia was on 12/12/19 about faulty packaging - they may not have tried to use it!

    Requires 120V @1200W

Step down transformer @$99! although only recommended to run for 1hr at a time. (1000W continuous, 1500W 1hr)

That makes this an expensive Deal👎

    • Think a neg is needed so people see this… I almost bought it.

      • +1

        Added my Neg.

The Mods considered what should be done - added a warning & link to my comment, and pinned my comment from near bottom to first position.

Reporting was the appropriate way in this case. They could have unpublished the Deal. But those who had already bought would not be able to read the warning & cancel.

If someone really wants to buy this at lowest price, currently with free delivery from USA with Prime, has a step down transformer - it's a Deal.

To most it would be an expensive mistake.

Can u use this like a hot pot?

    • apparently not according to one of the reviews.

  • Guessing not going to be au plug?

  • Do you Fondue?

  • I'll receive this properly next week. will see if it can be a hot pot. I guess no cos a hot pot requires higher temperature whereas most ingredients for fondue are precooked and the pot is mainly for warming cheese not boiling.

Might be 110v since it's American so you'll likely need a transformer.

      NOT SUITABLE FOR AUSTRALIA!

  • A rice cooker will do the job.

    • Well tell us about your experience.
      Which brand & model?

It's certainly possible. Rice cookers are versatile. I've done it but the temp control was crap. Heating element is either on or off. So wouldn't recommend on anything but cheap cheese. And I wouldn't recommend that.

Maybe your rice cooker is different, but I still can't see a rice cooker having the fine temperature controls & small size suitable for heating & sharing delicate fondue foods, like with units like this.

A simple double boiler / pot on a (portable) stove or heater element would be probably more appropriate than a large rice cooker. That's what I use.

  • Thanks for reminding me that's a US 110v version.
I've cancelled my order I placed before Xmas although I got a down transformer for a Japanese unit. No need to be that difficult in life.

    • Reported to Mods last night to decide if should be unpublished or a warning added.

Some of those 400 clicks may be wasted orders!

Likely heating element will burn out if used. That leaves people with an expensive pot with forks.

      Best you cancelled order.

It requires a hefty 1200+W 120V step down transformer. I've only used a few hundred watt unit with overseas electronic equipment. 110W transformer would be fine, but having that at the table would be awkward.
