  • Ohhhh dammnnn. That's incredible price!

    • Awfully close to the $478 @ Amazon AU via Amazon US which I linked you to awhile back.
And this deal is for local stock.

Still personally have trouble justifying $499 for a wireless headphone let alone a wired pair.

      • After trying this one I think max $500 as it does wired so will too. If I hadn't bought h9i already I would get this.

        • H9i has superior battery-life, ANC, and replaceable battery.
          More for your money IMO.

      Hey you. MW60 All-black Aussie-stock $379 Delivered @ Amazon AU.

      • Stop teasing me damn it! That's incredible price!

I was going to message you recently actually. My Phillips htl1900 soundbar is dying. I made a mistake buying it, but it served me well. I don't have much space to use, but wanted to upgrade it, thinking if perhaps a stereo set of bookshelf speakers. Realistically I don't have space for a big amp, and probably right now no centre channel either. Medium sized room perhaps 3 metres away from tv. Do you have any recommendations? Price up to say $600-700.

        • Active bookshelf speakers is the way to go nowadays.
Simplicity, end-to-end control over the design & components, resulting in proper refined sound & lower overall cost.

I would recommend the Edifier S3000Pro they are currently $640 Delivered (Free shipping to NSW / SA) @ Edifier AU, but out-of-stock again currently.
They reach down to 38hz and you will likely be saving your money on purchasing a subwoofer.
(Confirmed by someone who purchased from recent deal).
One of the best features of the Edifier’s is they allow for customization of the sound-signature, so you will likely achieve exactly how you want them to sound.

I have seen it go out-of-stock 3 times within 3-4 months (worth mentioning this includes during Black Friday), either they are seriously short of stock, or they are selling extremely well.

Worth mentioning Edifier also listed new models recently (still waiting for stock to arrive on these as well I think).
I did a write-up on the new models here.

          • @thebadmachine: You're a legend thanks mate, will start saving and watch out for sales. I really wanted the hd6 to be better as I love the look of it in Walnut, but expensive and mixed reviews.

            • @onlinepred:

              HD6

They do look great. IMO Audioengine products are over-priced for what they are (less features than Edifier).
I think it’s got something to do with “Made / designed in USA” but my guess is it’s mostly Chinese OEM parts anyway.
Had a bad experience with the original A2 model back-in-the-day, outside warranty one speaker developed a “buzz” and ended up having to buy something else to replace them.

Edifier have stepped their game up, my guess is some internals are still Chinese OEM, but in their Pro-series the Planar-diaphragm tweeters were developed together with Fostex, and their woofer’s were developed with a German company.
Edifier also bought a portion of “Stax” the electro-planar headphone company, so I think that’s also got something to do with the planar-diaphragm tweeters they developed for their Pro-series speakers.

              • @thebadmachine: Thanks mate, really leaning towards 3000pro especially for the price. Sound/performance seems to be perfect for TV/Movies. Have you had any experience/research with Yamaha HS8?

                • @onlinepred:

                  Yamaha HS8?

The HS8 being a Studio monitor is designed for pro-audio and therefore severely compromised in terms of use as a ‘home’ speaker system.
In direct comparison to the S3000Pro the HS8’s sound will be severely lacking in low-end bass, and will sound quite sterile (flat) overall in comparison.
Also usability will be way better with the Edifier’s, you get a remote with ability to control volume, turn on / off & switch inputs via the remote.

                  • @thebadmachine: Thanks for the heads up mate. I'm 100% going to but a set, just need to wait a month or so unfortunately. AC died 😭

                    • @onlinepred: Yes just wanted to give you a head up before I post the deal. Going to post now, I’m sure they have plenty of stock, or they will sell-out and top-up again within a month.
