57.60 on Ebay, can't tell if postage is free if you don't have ebay+

    • It's $14.95 for non Plus.

      • sorry about that then, still a decent alternative for those with it.

    • Thanks.

I'd add your link, but some ozbargainers are reluctant to buy from FUTU Online (or am I thinking of a different store?) and the deal would be down voted.

      • I know what you're alluding to, personally I've purchased 2 controllers from them (one within the last month) and the box wasn't opened, looked and felt new (and smelled new too..). Be wary then I suppose.

      • I had a look at some other deals from FUTU online here on OzBargain, and I didn't see any that were downvoted, so it's probably just me (I may have confused the stores).

Good find to both Op and Kozhutki - I'm still waiting to find one with the textured hand grips on sale though. I previously bought the red one when it was on sale on OzBargain a few years back and that's my favourite controller.

Don't all the "S" controllers have textured grips? Or are you talking about a rubberised grip?

      • It might be the rubberised grip I'm referring to. The one where it's not smooth on the bottom where your middle/fourth/fifth finger usually rest.

        • The S controllers definitely have a textured grip there but it's not something as grippy as rubber would be.

          • @Kozhutki: Is the S controller the same grip as what I've got on my red one? https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/xbox-wireless-controller--…

            • @jace88: Does your grip protrude as much as those pictures suggest? Those pictures make it looks like it protrudes quite a bit, S definitely has something similar but if yours is as protruded as the picture then they aren't the exact same.

If you look at both product pages for the red one and the black one, they have the same description mentioning the grip. I know that all controllers sold now (and for the past 2? years) are all the same S version, they improved the bumpers/buttons, added an audio jack and the grip.

              • @Kozhutki: I guess my reluctance comes from I also have a black One controller from when they had just added the 3.5mm jack but no Bluetooth yet and that's horrible to use. Feels like it's going to slip out of my hand everytime.

The grip doesn't really protrude but you can definitely feel the little rubber bumps on the inside bit underneath. Do you think that's the same on all S controllers?

                • +2

@jace88: I must just add that the grip is purely plastic too, no other material.

There's a picture that shows you the difference between the S and the original XB1 versions here, it's a little hard to understand but the bottom controller is the one with bluetooth. Basically, if the plastic surrounding the xbox logo looks like it's apart of the main controller and not a section slotted in then it has the bluetooth. These pictures might be easier Bluetooth, no bluetooth.

I'm gonna say it's the same on all S controllers because every single new controller I've purchased has had the much better bumpers (don't have to press on an angle for it to register) and the same grip.

Still feel a little funny suggesting it with 100% certainty when it's hard with how many controllers are out there.

  • how do you make this wireless?

    • +2

Wireless is built in and the cable is optional. Small button on the top to sync with bluetooth.

      • Yep, the cable is just for charging if you have rechargeable batteries in your controller, and for connecting to a PC (but you can buy a wireless PC dongle too).

        • Ok so it won't working with the PC wirelessly without that dongle?

          • @IJustKnowStuff: Not as far as I know.

          • +3

@IJustKnowStuff: Works fine if your PC has Bluetooth.

            • @TheContact: Oh yes! Thanks. Makes sense.

            • @TheContact: Thanks. I have an Xbox 360 wired controller that's great and all but could really do with a wireless one. Might finally be able to put all my Enloops to use.

          • @IJustKnowStuff: The first generation Xbox One controllers require a dongle. I can confirm that these ones work fine without it, provided that your PC has bluetooth.

            • @OkayFray: This controller has bluetooth, so it should be fine then. Thanks

            • @OkayFray: so a bluetooth usb dongle will work fine with this?

              • @ChickenAdobo: yep, may have to update the controller through the app called "xbox accessories" on the windows store.

There is a firmware update, which adds functionality such as the ability to connect bluetooth headphones to the controller, etc.

    https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/controll…

Being a firmware update, instead of a simple software update, I highly recommend updating your controller when you get it.
