Asus VivoBook 15 15.6-Inch i3/4GB/128GB SSD/1366 x 768 Display Windows 10s Laptop $448 at Harvey Norman

I think $448 ($190 off) is a good price for a Laptop with an iCore processor and an SSD.

And enough RAM to run anything except high defintion games or video editing, display resolution is also ok for most things except maybe photo editing.

Note, it runs Windows 10s (which is a "stripped down" version of Windows 10, and is not compatible with Windows 10 programs afaik).

ASUS Australia support for this laptop (FAQ, drivers, etc) https://www.asus.com/au/supportonly/F512FA/HelpDesk_Knowledg…

I couldn't find the Australian ASUS page with this laptop model, but ASUS US has one (any differences between the two, the Australian website would be more accurate).

Note: If you prefer a HD equivalent of this laptop (but with an AMD processor and full Windows 10) you can get one from for an extra $40 or so at Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/ASUS-VivoBook-F510QA-WideView-A12-…

    1366x768 on a 15.6 inch laptop

    • Would be nice for elderly people I guess, they can read the fonts without reading glasses….

Ya have to get over it at this price point

      • Would be better off buying from amazon with 12% cashback… but 4gb ram…

      • That's true, they have to make cuts somewhere.

Anyway, I edited the post, people who want a full HD version can get it for about $40 more at Amazon (but it was a quick Google search, I'm not sure the full HD version price is the cheapest)

        • That's not the same model. Its bezels are not as thin as the HN one.

When you see bezels this thin and the chasis this thin, it normally is only offered as a premium device with premium specs and an expensive price to boot. I'm quite surprised they combined low tech specs with a premium chassis design.

  • Don't know how to install a second hard drive (2.5'').
    128G is not enough.

      just swap out the 128gb

      • Have a lot 2.5 inch SSD from old laptops

  • According to both spec lists there seems to be around 1/2 Kg weight difference between these two, not sure if correct?

Anyone found out if ram is up gradable on either of these as you want 8GB going forward unless basic needs?

    • I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to swap it for one 8 Gig stick (especially if you run the full Windows 10 version)

      • Sometimes there is no ram slot, only non up gradable ram soldered on to the board, hence I asked.

Oh, ok. I have no idea then.

But, I did just post a link to ASUS support for this model, so you should be able to find it there (particularly in the user manual).

  • windows 10S? whats the difference from home/pro?

    • +1

It's a "stripped down" version designed for low end hardware.

But you can easily run Windows 10 on this laptop (it was probably a cost saving measure).

    • +2

You can only install apps/software from the Windows store.

Just do a fresh install of Windows 10 though, and don't activate.

      • Really, once you activate the included W 10S there is no going back? Did not know that.

        • I think he/she meant not to activate the Windows 10.

Because the laptop would probably come with Windows 10s activated already.

Added support link to ASUS Australia in the deal description, for more details about this laptop (FAQ, drivers, manuals, etc).
