Howdy fellow OZB Bargain hunters (long-time lurker here).

My Brisbane based video production/photography studio will be hosting our first 'Pics in the Park' this Sunday (08/12/19) at New Farm Park, from 4:30pm - 7pm. Normally, our individual head shots start at $220 but we're offering free photography as I'm getting the business name out there,

Basically, you arrive at New Farm Park, register, we take your photo and upload it to our Tempus Media Facebook page and happy days - you've got yourself free, professional photography. Heaps of information on our Facebook page.

Also, if you post our photo and tag @Tempusmediaco, you can go in the draw to win a double-pass to see Cirque de Solei, Kurios in Brisbane.

    Probably not for a single shot in a park, but if it's a headshot session in a studio, not unreasonable. They will likely take dozens of photos in different poses and outfits and let you proof your favourites. Then it'll take 1-2 hours for editing and publishing a few shots, depending on requirements. So three hours of work, then factor in the overheads:

    • $15,000+ for the bare minimum camera and lighting gear a working professional will need to get started, updating their camera bodies (at least 2) every 3-5 years.
    • $5,000+ for the powerful editing workstation + disk storage, updated every 2-5 years.
    • $500+ a year for the software licensing (Adobe/cloud storage) and web hosting.
    • Insurance for gear and public liability.
    • Studio rent
    • Wages for assistants

      Fine, but you can't advertise 1x photo normally: $220 if it's not the same thing.

      Hey Anders. Indeed it isn't a cheap operation! We'll have all of our professional equipment down at the park today. Will be a pretty casual session though. I usually don't shoot in studios as I rather shoot outdoors. Thanks for your input!

    Heya Klone. Usually with our sessions we go to location and shoot a bunch of shots, you select the one you're after, we retouch this and deliver it back to you. So yes, Pain Toad was right - we charge for the shoot then deliver one retouched photo.
