  • Hey there, when you say tuya, can these be used with a tuya hub and smart life app?

    • I am also wondering if they can be used with the Brilliant Smart App?

    • +3

These are rebranded sonoff smart plugs so the answer to both your questions is yes. Same as these on Aliexpress. Hope they have obtained at least the SAA before selling in Australia.

      • but $10 shipping kills it.

  • I've got the powerboard version, which is working pretty well for me. App was average but I control through the Google Home app anyway, so the Jingvoo app is just for set up.

    • I had to return my powerboard, it kept power itself off 12-36 hours.

Will 2 of these fit onto a single double gang GPO?

    • This man in asking the real questions.

Looking into getting some smart plugs - my old Belkin one is massive.

      • i have the Tplink ones. it is good but render the other outlet in my double gang GPO useless. I don't want to repeat the same mistakes again. I am on the lookout for those ones that can fit both into a DGPO. I havent been able to find any….

Nope … still get overlap unfortunately … Not by much but enough so the dodgy Chinese prongs on these will not quite sit side by side. A standard up/down double adapter remedies this in one socket and if you have a smallish plug in the other it would fit.

    • Wait for the powerboards to come on, reckon they were only $22-$25 last time. They work pretty well.

    • no. it rendered my side socket completely useless.

  • What's some examples of stuff these are good for? The common things usually need a manual toggle (some tvs, a kettle, slow cooker etc)

Christmas lights —> alexa turn Griswald light show on. Bedside lamps are probably the easiest. Great for Xmas tree lights, outdoor lights at different times.

My mate flicks the kettle switch after the last boil so it's engaged, but with power off.

    • I have several of them controlling mood lighting (lamps and LED strips) throughout the house. They're also good for controlling things like Christmas lights.

Depending on the appliance, I've been they're most useful to use the timer functions to switch things off after a certain period.

    • Good for when you go on holidays. Looks like home is occupied.

    • I use one of these for my 'studio' lighting. That I only need for streaming.

I control my home theatre, a lamp, computer (wake on lan), electric blanket, kettle, robot vacuum cleaner, and once I move to my new place, AC inverter when coupled with a Broadlink RM.

Ahh some of those are from Google Home in general.

Can these be flashed with tuya convert/ESPHome?

    • My question too.

  • Thanks OP

  • can you control it via alexa?

    • Yes.

  • Sold out but can join wait list :(

  • Thanks OP.

  • I am using Arlec smart wifi powerboard (Bunnings) along with these, all connected with my Google nest hub. No issues so far. Very good price, as I got mine for 14 each.

  • +1

Can you set a schedule to turn this off/on? Like turn on every day from 7pm to 11pm (Christmas lights) etc.

    • yer

    • The Tuya app has has Smart Automation option to trigger at sunset or sunrise relative to your location and time of year.
Example: Schedule outside lights to switch on at sunset and off at midnight.

    100% claimed Now $28.85!

  • Power monitoring?

  • If you just want one, it's only $10.88

    • The link takes me straight to the 2 pack and I can't seem to select the 1 pack.

  • Do these have an audible whine like the TP-Link HS100/HS110?

  • +1

    Mark as expired.

    • Reported expired, but Mod changed Deal by adding single product option.

  • I’ve got the brilliant smart Wi-Fi plugs that were on clearance for $9.95 at Bunnings…

I checked the other day and my local Bunnings still has 30+ in stock.
These work great for Christmas lights connected to Alexa with scheduled on/off times

You can control these locally without the cloud via a node.js script.
Need to pair initially to get the API keys. Tuya-cli I think it’s called.
    Very responsive.
Took about 5 ministers to setup and get the api keys via iOS, but could be challenging for some as there is SFA documentation.

    • +1

      5 ministers
Sorry but I can't hire too many ministers. too expensive for me. lolz

      • +1

        Lol… damn autocorrect

    • If controlling locally, are you able to control them via Smart Assistants?

      • Sorry I don’t know what that is. Out of the box they work with google ect..
My use is I call the cli from BlueIris (nvr) software, Windows task scheduler and for my Christmas lights just a windows script that powers various sockets on and off in a somewhat entertaining manner. and then loops.

Not the most robust, but is handy where quick response is required.

I wouldn’t recommend this brand for critical uses, the product feels very light and would question the build quality.

  • i used to think my brilliant ones from bunnings for $10 were good but the 2 i'm using currently make a really high pitched electronic whine/scream sound that can be heard when its quiet. sounds like tinitus but it's not.

    • I have a hue light that does that. So annoying. All my other hues are fine. It's on a Chandler with 4 other hue colour blubs
