      • What does data usage related to mobile camera?

  • Wow, it's back. Thanks OP.

I wonder why it "sells out". I went to 3 stores last time to find this, not knowing its a limited offer thing. Then calling Aldi Cs, they told me it's been out of stock in all of Sydney for a long time.

Hopefully am able to get one this time!

  • How does this even compare with groupon amaysim $9 for 6 mnths

    • How much data on that?

  • +1

Don't want to sound trashy, but the Boost $135 deal is way better. 15GB a year is just too little

  • I have a separate SIM for data, so need the cheapest deal possible for calls/SMS (dual sim phone). This seems to be the best around, better than the $10/month I'm paying Amaysim

    • +1

This seems to be the best around, better than the $10/month I'm paying Amaysim

      I pay $10/year on Amaysim.

      • ~Likewise. My Aldi plan was expiring and I couldn't see a renewal option. Off on a cheap Amaysim deal now for 6 months (main number) while I continue to take cheap short-term data deals for the 2nd SIM slot.

        Works for me.

        • +1

tried this before, main sim with Amaysim plus a second data sim in a dual sim phone
it pretty much killed my battery within a year and a half, never again :(

          • @lhou021: Interesting. I have found that it uses more battery (has to) but I haven't seen any issues with battery longevity in the last year. My wife has the same phone (Redmi4x) running on a single SIM and we haven't seen problems with either.

    • +1

Dodo is $5/month unlimited calls/sms without data. Though I'd wish they gave at least shaped data like Belong for emergencies.

  • Thanks OP, perfect for mum!

  • +1

This looks like a great plan, however are there any similar plans for a few dollars more with better coverage?

    • Yes, look for JV comments above

    • Don't worry bm, I understood what you were getting at there.

  • +2

Hey ALDI! 2018 called. They want their deal back.

I think most people that use this deal would prefer it to be 25% cheaper than last year than get 25% more data (or 250 megabytes a month…).

    • I think Aldi shareholders prefer 25% more money and 25% less data.

      • +1

Shareholders? I think that you'll find that it is under private ownership.

        • Private companies have shareholders too

      • I wanted to buy Aldi shares 15 years ago!

  • +1

I can see this plan is right for some people. 15G is good enough for my Dad, but my dad also make international calls which make boost mobile better for him. Even boost mobile plan is $36/year or $3/month more expensive.

  • @dealbot your camera looks trific as i am reading the t n c off your photo! What phone is it that u have?

  • +3

Unless it's for your grandma who literally never uses data I'd go for the $135 boost plan which comes with like 80 gig.

    • Yes, get >5x more data and the full Telstra 4g network for 36% more $

    • Agree I got the Aldi plan last year but plan to move to boost.

  • +1

$99 isnt cheaper than $6 for 28x6 days

    • +1

      $99 / 365 = 27 cents a day.
      $6 / (28 x 6) = 3.6 cents a day

      3.6 < 27 (Q.E.D.)

      Math checks out.

      • Dont forget you can get it cheaper sometime.

  • No volte, vilte or rcs.

Volte is important for 'light users' like Gran and Gramps who would appreciate hearing calls with high definition/clarity.

And anyone else who appreciates improvements in mobile communications.

      • VoLTE = Voice Over LTE = Voice calling over the data network (typically higher quality sound)
      • ViLTE = Video Over LTE = Video calling over the data network (no WiFi required)
      • RCS = Rich Communication Services = essentially SMS/MMS but as a chat service (read receipts, typing notifications, etc)
      • LTE = Long Term Evolution = faster data networks i.e. 4G.
    • My father in law - nice guy - deaf as a post - uses ALDI mobile and has never complained about that. And he would. Believe me, he would.
Reception - I have done trips along the Newell with no problems.
SMS - never a problem. TPG, on the other hand, was a pain in the bum in that regard.
BTW - not an ALSI … what's the word? (I'm really tired).
It's a good deal. But life is about choices.

  • This plan has been perfect for me. I'd call myself a medium user of data but I have WiFi everywhere. Look at your usage.

    Don't call me a granddad.

    • JV said the Boost deal is better and I tend to agree with him Grandad.

  • jv boosting his post count

  • Wait for the amaysim Groupon deal
    6 X 28 days, 1gb per month
    8 bucks all up

  • Is there a better deal for 365 days of unlimited domestic phone calls on the Telstra network because I'm not aware of it?

    • Nope. I looked. OK - at least "Nope to the best of my ability to look for phone deals".

  • Do these include any PAYG credit? Looking to whack this in my phone and roam Europe with Aus number active for calls+text only

    • No, you will need to add PAYG credit

  • If I buy this will my roll over data remain?

  • Does Aldi has international roaming ?

  • +5

I saw the picture for this post and thought it was a deal on Ansell condoms. So disappointed.

    • Came here to see if anyone else saw that too hah

      • Not just me then. Whew.

I speed read the title as "365 super pack….." I was thinking - giddy up!

  • Has this $99 Aldi Super Pack got an expire date ?

    • Yes. At the back of package has Activate by XX-XX-XXXX

      • Thanks will have to have a look in at Aldi

  • I'm getting my elderly mum to buy this. Her current prepaid sim is under my sister's name. Will she need to show her driver's license to purchase this? If so, will it matter if when potting over she uses my sister's details to port her number?

  • Hi, with the Aldi plan I still have data from last years $99 left. I think it has around 10gb left of the 12gb allocated.
If I renew with this new $99 before expiry will the data get added on or will I lose the remaining 10gb?
    Cheers

  • My local store is out of stock.
I understand that this is an in-store only offer. Is that correct?
Is this deal still available anywhere in Perth North of river?
What's the easiest way to find stock without driving from store to store to store?

    • Ring every ALDI in your city. They were very helpful to me two years ago when I got on the ALDI 365 train.

      • I haven't been able to find out the direct phone numbers to any of the ALDI stores in Perth. Is this information available anywhere?

  • +1

Dunno if this comment is relevant or useful but just want to say that I went to the nearest ALDI on Wednesday and got 4; 1 for each person in my family. This will be the third year in a row we have used it. My youngest son did a $15 data top up at some point during the year. The rest of us never topped 10GB for the year. If data is not important to you - this is astounding value.

  • If you don't want data, then the Dodo $5 a month deal is far cheaper.

  • We’ve successfully ported two iPhone 5S’s to ALDI mobile.

    Speed tests inside my house:
Before port: 3.48 Mbps (LTE OPTUS)
After port: 26.4 Mbps (LTE Telstra)

It’s worth mentioning that the network coverage map at https://www.aldimobile.com.au/coverage/ does not show the full story. It only shows that my neighbourhood in the Perth metro area is covered by the 700 MHz band 28 and not the 1800 MHz band 3, which was a concern as I have an old iPhone 5S which requires the 1800 MHz band 3 and does not have the 700 MHz band 28. In fact, Telstra provides great service on the 1800 MHz band 3 in my neighbourhood, which I only discovered through making personal enquiries.

Note that Telstra says at https://www.telstra.com.au/coverage-networks/check-imei that to use their service on 4G, your hardware needs to have “1800MHz AND 4G 700MHz banding”. I’ve since learned that this is only a half-truth. Having both bands on your hardware is advantageous but not actually required. It’s only necessary that your mobile phone can use one of these bands - and that Telstra provides service in your location on that particular band. The catch is that Telstra doesn’t disclose any information about which bands are covered in their network coverage maps. The coverage of any one band can be unreliable, so to mandate that your hardware services both bands is the simplest way to ensure you get 4G where they advertise 4G, but technically, having mobile hardware which services both bands is not required. Of course, it’s advantageous if your handset services both bands as they can both be used simultaneously to provide you greater speeds (carrier aggregation).

So, long story short, my iPhone 5S is working great on Telstra without 700 MHz band 28, and I’m very happy to have ported to ALDImobile:
    - I’m happy with the much improved speed.
    - I’m happy that this deal is much cheaper than I was paying.
    - I’m happy that this deal has more GB than I use in a year, but most importantly,
    - I’m happy that I can splurge on data usage one month and not have the hassles of monthly data caps and the resulting need for data topups or needing to go on a higher plan paying for much more data than I really need just to allow for the high usage months.

    No looking back!

  • plenty of stock at Aldi in Springvale. Aldi is next to crunch fitness
