  • This got soldout last time.Best deal. Thanks

    • +8

They never sold out at a couple of stores that I visited. They were available for a while, even after the sale finished.

      • +1

I had to call 5 aldi's around brisbane to get one. So there are really popular here.

        • +2

I'm in Melbourne and had no problem getting one.

          • @jv: I might have to ask you to get me one incase I can't find one here

            • +14

@Iluvfreebies: Might be easier to just move to Melbourne.

            • +1

@Iluvfreebies: I can probably help out, feel free to private message me if you get desperate.

              • +1

                • +2

@jv: No, but his house is available. Easier to move to Melbourne.

              • +1

                @Sage: I'm desperate.

Do you like to cuddle in front of a warm fireplace while eating chocolate and watching a classic rom com?

      • Well they sold out at ALL of my nearby stores.

        • Did you lodge a complaint?

    • +2

Boost deal shites on this.. u use 1.5gb just checking ur e-mail these days on a 4g phone LoL

      • If you use the do not download images when not on wifi feature your data will last 3x longer

        • your data will last 3x longer

          not if you use netflix.

  • +4

    $8.25 pm w/ 1.25gb p/m

    • +46

      Boost is $11.25 pm w/ 6.67gb p/m

      with better coverage.

      • Any boost deals around?

      • -1

Isn't it the same coverage? They're both on the telstra network. I've had both and never noticed a difference.

That said, the data is abysmal. Only good for non-smart phones or people who never leave a wifi hotspot.

      • +4

        too expensive

      • Coverage is the same in Sydney tho, my wife has Telstra and reception is IDENTICAL

Dont know what happens in rural areas

      • +1

        Boost is $10.83 pm w/ 6.67GB/m

Well for the first 12 months anyway.

        • +1

Then it shoots up to a massive $12.50.

      • I purchased the Boost deal. The signal in CBD is horrible. No coverage in basements or in interior or malls or shops.

        • +6

No coverage in basements or in interior or malls or shops.

Yep, that's what mobile coverage does.

        • optus is doing fine. I am thinking to switch my telstra to optus. Telstra is becoming failstra soon.

          • @fan8956: Why do you say that? Boost is Telstra, right?

            • @mrau: telstra is no longer the one it used to be, check this

  • +19

15GB of data, perfect light users.

You'd need to be really sure that 15GB will be enough, otherwise for about $3 a month more, you're be off going for the Boost 80Gb plan… You'll also get better coverage.

    • +1

I am a light user and I got WIFI at home. My 365 plan expires in jan 2020 and I still got 5GB left

      • +6

I've put on a bit o weight this year and also have WIFI at home. I like the peace of mind of been able to go away on a holiday and have the extra data in case I need to use it.

        • +8

          Just like every year jv.

        • +3

          This is OzBargain.

We all take free holidays couch-surfing at houses with free WiFi.

Most times I just eat their food too.

    • +4
      • +8

Boost use the entire Telstra network, it is Telstra… The others do not.

When I ask Boost for a receipt, they send me one with the Telstra logo.

        • +1

When I chat with “Boost” staff I get a Telstra survey.

          • @PainToad: Check your credit card bill.
On mine recharging Boost appears as a charge by Telstra.

        • Doesnt really matter if you are in a big city, you still get the exact same coverage there.
In some rare rural areas you may have issues, as also indicated by what our friend found.

If you travel in remote areas, you out of luck

          • @nikoris: There are differences in coverage across the Mornington or Bellarine peninsulas…

          • @nikoris: You're not in WA are you?

    • +4

If you find out later that it's not enough, you can buy data add-ons for the Super Pack: 20Gb for $30 or 70Gb for $60 (though Boost's plan is still a better deal for heavier users).

      • (though Boost's plan is still a better deal for heavier users).

When you apply, they don't ask for your weight.

  • Will all stores have this?

    • -1

      Who are you asking?

      • Anybody who have experience in buying this sim. I guess I just turn up in one store and hope they have it in stock.

        • I guess I just turn up in one store and hope they have it in stock.

That would be more reliable than relying on what happened in the past.

        • Yes. Probably better than turning up at the Bunnings across the street and hoping they have stock

  • +2

By the way, if you are already on this plan, you can just recharge online at any time for $99 and you'll get 15Gb.

    • Thanks, I set this up for my Dad last year when this promo was on and was hoping i didn't have to buy him another voucher in store.

      • Still need to buy the voucher or you wont be able to recharge. So Im with Boost now.

        • Nope, you can purchase directly through the app.

          • @jv: App didn`t work for me, Boost for $130 was a better deal for me anyway.

    • if you are already on this plan

what if you're on $15 PAYG plan, can you recharge online at anytime for $99 and get 15 GB ?

      • Yes, it shows up as a recharge option on the app… 15GB for $99.

Has always been then over the last year, at some stage they changed 12GB to 15GB

    • +1

It wasn't always available to recharge online… my father has this and needed to recharge a couple months ago. Wasn't available online and the call centre said not available right now but to call back the day it expires as there was "a good chance they could work something out 😉". They then recharged it with the same offer on the expiration date.

      • This. Not particularly user friendly for those of us trying to manage cheap plans for other (~older) family members. Moved at least one to another provider because Aldimobile kept on playing 'hide the ball'. Rookie error?

  • +3

Just 15GB data for the entire year! How do people survive with that?

    • +6

Work and home uses wifi. I generally don't look up a whole bunch of videos or what-have-you when I'm out and about.

      • I generally don't look up a whole bunch of videos or what-have-you when I'm out and about.

        Why not?

        • +2

Well I mean if I'm travelling or something I'm listening to podcasts that I've already downloaded, if I'm out waiting for someone/something I'm more likely to browse reddit than stream a video. I watch videos sometimes at work at lunch using their wifi. Eh, people have different needs.

          • @Stoibs: Or if you have YouTube premium you can download videos to your phone to watch later.

You can download Here Maps and use that for navigation.

You can set apps to only update on Wi-Fi.

Play a game instead of watch a video.

Set your email to text only, or don't download images.

Maccas and dozens of other shops and cafes have free Wi-Fi now, so

If you are old school you can have music on your memory card.

Maybe you have a dual sim phone and work pays for your data, so you only need your own when that connection is down.

            Regardless, it can be done

    • +11

By having a life other that social media 👍👍

  • +2

    No all are data freaks

  • Which network does this use?

    • I think telstra

      • +1

Telstra MVNO, which is a subset of the full Telstra network.

        • Nope. Boost uses all the Telstra network.

          • +1

@jv: Yes, but this is Aldi.

Boost does indeed use full Telstra (Including 4GX) because, for all intents and purposes, it is Telstra in everything but name.

  • I have 2 more months optus 365 from last year with 40gb left. This one is better deal for me. Can i keep this sim card and use it after 2 months?

    • probably… just check the expiry date when you receive it.

  • +1

Anyone knows the Activation Expiry date?

    • You get one year to activate

  • +6

In addition to the Boost option:

    Belong $105 for a year with 70GB
    - 60GB initial, banked, add 1 per month) same network, shaped for remainder of month if quota exceeded.
    - $15 up front, $10/month after referral credit used. No fixed term, cancel any time, continue as long as needed.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499102

With ALDI, you have to watch your data carefully, or risk blowing it early and being cut off until you pay extra.

    • I think we have a new winner. That's a cracking deal!

    • How is it 60GB initially? Isn't it 40GB? Also, that would be $125 for a year not $105. Although, agree, not a bad deal.

      • Check the Belong talks for details. You get double data on first month, so start on $40 plan, and switch to $10. Get 30GB initially and 30GB a few days later with first bill.

        • It's 40GB on the $40 large plan. So with double data that makes 80GB.

          • +1

@Arthur Dunger: Yes, they increased it from 30 to 40. You still effectively get double for the first month.
And they still do not promote that?

    • I went to 3 different Woolies in Sydney CBD yesterday and none had the $40 starter pack in stock :'(

      • CBD. Here is your mistake.

    • Belong is the PIT …. Bunch of Liars and thieves !!!
      Nora Bene :
They are changing their Rules and CIS … WITHOUT advising Customers …
If you don’t pay your Plan after 15 days they BLOCK your number 💩💩💩
NO calls NO SMS NO MMS … even RECEIVING !!!
Where is the SIX (6) months GRACE … where it is your number until the six months have elapsed ..
Once BelOng BLOCK you , you can NOT port !!! 💩💩💩💩

      • You seem to be confusing Belong with prepaid.
Harsh though. Do they unblock if you pay your bill?

        • Yes they have “unblocked” … semantic … the number was NOT blocked … suspended 😅🤣😂. Lying 🤥 sods …
Also advised Via email as from 13 DEC 2019 … these Rules will apply !!!!
If , as they CLAIMED , it is in CIS , WHY would they bother to send you an advice !!!! 🤥🤥🤥
And you are RIGHT , I was on PREPAID , but was advised it is Post Paid !!!
          Thanks again 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

          • @yvesmpicard: What is the change of Rules? I have been using Belong, abut did not get any email about change of rules?

    • +1

      You get 80gb upfront now

      • which one you are talking about for the 80Gb, Boost, Aldi or Belong?

        • Belong mobile (double data) Explained on Belong Mobile Wiki under "Billing and Payments"

So if you can find a Belong $40 starter pack on special for $15 before the end of the year you can effectively create a 6 month plan with 85GB data for $15.

          • Buy $40 sim for $15.
          • Activate on the $40 plan for the 1st month and get double data - 80GB
          • Move to $10 plan on the 2nd month.
          • Use code - BYO50OFF when activating for $50 credit, - which pays for 5 more months on the $10 plan.
  • +4

This is a pretty rubbish deal tbh.

Rather spend $36 more and get Boost with 5.3x more data

    • +5

Mobile camera in NSW switched on so some ppl don’t need much data now 😂
