deal has been extended until 16/12

    Awesome.

Might order one now though, so I can get my number ported before the end of January…

    • don't scare me as will be doing the porting tomorrow.

      • Only got mine working yesterday after trying since Wednesday. GL!

    • +1

      Took me 1 hour.

      • -4

Only took me 50 mins to order…

I've given them feedback on the really poor website design…

        • I hear they've fired he web developer.

        • You moan about how long it takes to port, you moan about how long it takes to buy ….
And by the way, it took me an hour to port.

          • -5

            @redcreek200:

            You moan

Maybe you should re-read my comments…

            • @jv: Maybe reread my first post - I was replying to your complaint about maybe waiting till Jan to port. I said it only took me an hour !

              • -4

                @redcreek200:

I was replying to your complaint

                Which complaint ??

                The poor web design ?

                • +1

@jv: Problems reading JV ? The answer is in the post you replied to. Read it slowly and out loud. That'll help.

                  • -4

                    @redcreek200:

                    Problems reading JV ?

No, but you obviously can't point out where I supposedly 'complained'…

                    • @jv: What do you need? Someone to bold it for you?

                      • -1

                        @4agte:

                        What do you need?

Nothing, I'm not the one making unsubstantiated claims…

        • +2

Let me end this dispute, and I’ll be fair about it. JV you are wrong.

          • -3

            @MuddyClear:

            JV you are wrong.

            About what?

    • This is $130 elsewhere

      • bonus…

        where?

    • Took about 5 mins for mine to be ported

      • Took me a week.

  • +6

Just did the pricematch over the phone for $128 delivered.

    • +1

Officeworks website mentions same plan but expiry is 186 days, I called them and they said they can beat the price but can't change the expiry date, so not worth actually. What about you, what did you get?

    • Same, first time with OW over the phone and they knew the deal already so no need for me to give them the reference to Boost website. Delivered was easier as there was only 1 left at my local OW. Should arrive this week.

    • +9

Officeworks just delivered the sim card.

I took one for the team and activated it (even though it was supposed to be an xmas present!).

      It is definitely 12 months.

      • can you port a number in through the activation steps?

        • +2

yes after providing ID and the like, it asked if porting an existing number.

          • @mshanann: thank you :)

            • +1

@pippohippo: Porting your number across to Boost Mobile service is easy.

When activating your SIM, simply select the “Bring my phone number” tab. Fill in your details and we’ll sort it out with your previous provider.

Your number should be active on Boost Mobile within 4 to 24 hours after activating. If you make a request outside business hours, including Sundays and public holidays, we’ll process it on the next business day. You can still use the number with your previous provider until the switch to us is complete.

If you are porting from Telstra to Boost Mobile, you will need a special blank Boost Mobile SIM. Please call 125 8881 (8am-9pm AEST, 7 days) and we will send one out to you.

Please be aware that the switch will only happen during these hours:
              Mon-Fri: 8am-8pm AEST
              Sat: 10am-6pm AEST

If you’re outside of these times, your number will still be active with your existing provider until the next business day. We’ll email and SMS you once your number is active.

              • @mshanann: legend!!!

              • -3

                @mshanann:

Porting your number across to Boost Mobile service is easy.

No it's not. It is painful

      • +4

Just saw this, apologies, I really didn't mean to put you under stress thinking it was 6 months, completely missed that detail on the OW site. Really glad it turned out to be 12 months :)

      • Legend

So much for Officeworks' description and in-store team that I spoke to!!

On the plus side, hopefully these will be restocked at OW before the special ends on the 16th

  • How long do you have to use after purchase

    • should be at least a couple of months but depends on luck

      • +6

        but depends on luck

        I doubt it…

It is more likely to depend on the expiry date.

    • it varies - but expiry on the boost sim I got in a previous deal is 9/2021 - so odds are you might have a decent runway.

  • Guys if I buy this now can I activate it AFTER Chrissy?

    • should be np

      • if im already with boost on this plan that doesnt expire until march 2020 can I buy this now and credit my account with this at expiry time?????

        • +1

its usually long expiry so you should be fine

          • +1

@iNeedMoreMoney: Seem to remember you cannot credit this too your account. Need to port out and back in again. Happy to be corrected if I read wrong

            • @SirNed: So to confirm, I cannot add to my existing boost plan to extend it?

          • +1

@iNeedMoreMoney: looks like you cant recharge with this

        • +1

I don't think you can use these pack to recharge, you'd have to port out and back in.

        • +1

This is not for top up.

        • No.

    • +1

can I activate it AFTER Chrissy?

Yes, as long as you do it BEFORE Amber does, otherwise she gets really shitty…

  • What do you guys do, if you run out of data before the 12 months is up. I have no idea how to recharge my current plant

    • +38

      water it

    • +1
    • ba dum

    • Wait for Coles deal, stimes they on sales which will allow you to recharge your current plan.

  • Just to make it clear, this is not for recharging, this is only for new customers. Just got off the phone with a customer rep.

    • +2

so you buy a $2 amaysim port out and then port back in?

      • +3

Is it worth the hassle though for $15 savings for the year (0.04c a day) if already subscribed. Blasphemy I hear you say…….being on OzB!
For me I splased out and paid the full whack when topping up recently as wasn’t game for all the mucking about porting out and then back (for primary mobile number) just for a $15 savings, plus one has to spend time getting the port out sim etc.

        • How much does it cost to recharge?

          • @asa79: $150…….unless you chose one of their othertop up options i.e. you don't have to sign up for $150 when existing expires.

  • +1

UNLIMITED Calls & Text to standard numbers

What do they classify as a standard number?

    • I think all Australian numbers, except numbers starting in 19

      • +1

Boost are useless at clarifying this, as they don't even list it in their own documentation, and their own support services cannot confirm.

    • Normal local and national calls to landlines and mobiles.

No premium numbers which charge per minute, no international numbers.

      • If its upfront prepaid how do they charge you? Do they email/post an invoice?

I'm assuming 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers are not included in the unlimited calls

        • You are assuming incorrectly. They are included.
If it was a number not included in the pack, it would not allow you to call eg premium numbers or calls to places overseas that are not included. This plan is not for everyone but for most is fine and very generous especially with the Global calls to incl countries which incl mobiles.

          • @Borg: I have always been on a plan that explicitly say it is included hence assumed it wasn't. Thanks for clarifying!

            • @pippohippo: Did you mean "explicitly say it is EXcluded" :-)

              • @Borg: possibly for prepaid but included for monthly plans

    • +1

Their critical info says the following:

Unlimited Calls and Texts excludes calls and text to international numbers, satellite and premium numbers
(e.g.19xx numbers), operator assisted calls (most 12xx numbers) and all use overseas.
Unlimited International Talk to selected destinations includes calls to standard international numbers
to the selected destinations from Australia. Excludes premium services and video calls. STND minutes excludes calls to premium services (satellite, 19xx numbers and operator assisted calls)
      and video calls.

For what it's worth, I can confirm 'standard international numbers' includes international mobile numbers. Tried this by calling a mobile number in Korea and it worked :)

  • any one have trouble porting over? notice boost upgrading their activation server

    • Their system appears to be in melt down at the moment. The online process failed and the call centre aren't much help. So far it has been 4 days and still not connected. Boost isn't keeping people informed and just tell them to ring back in 24 or 48 hours. Hopeless

      • Recently ported 2 numbers and both were quick

      • +2

just ported out from Kogan Mobile to boost yesterday via online. All done within 3 hours.

  • +1

Any deals on the larger plan?

  • +1

If this plan changes sometime in the future and say it increases the data from 80GB to 120GB. If I activate my SIM at this later time will it be tied to this current plan or the new plan applicable on the day of activation?

  • +1

It looks like a good deal and thinking of porting my son's prepaid from Belong to this.

Is Boost using the full Telstra network unlike Belong etc?

    • +3

Word on the street is it uses full Telstra. It is a Telstra subsidiary not MVNO.

  • +1

Is this same plan as the one advertised on boost website as office works description says "It includes unlimited calls and text to standard Australian numbers, as well as 80 GB of data to use over 186 days."

  • +2

Can you port from Telstra (expired post pay) to Boost?

    • Yes. Firstly You need to contact Telstra and request switching from a post paid plan to a pre paid plan. Once on prepaid then contact boost

      • Didn't know that - thanks!

        • You need to request blank sim from boost too.

      • Why do you need to do it that way? Is it because Boost is a reseller of Telstra?

        • Boost is telstra, when you move across your voicemail and telstra credit are retained.

  • +1

So this is only for when you port in? So if I'm already on boost do I need to buy any $2 non boost sim port to that then port back into this sim deal?

    • I have the same question too. I don’t care my old number, can i just new number from boost? I saw few ppl having problem to port in

  • Do I need to go to Aldi first to port into boost or can I do it from prepaid telstra?

    • in the previous thread, you have to request boost to send out a "blank" sim for porting into boost from telstra. Its a hassle, you might as well port to !telstra first.

  • thanks OP. got one!!

  • You can't port from boost to Telstra on the JB plans right

  • +2

    hi all,

    what about subsequent recharges?

do you get the same value?

    • Keen to know as well. Currently on aldi $15/month plan

    • From what I can tell the $135 is only for their XMAS sale, and only for new customers. You can still recharge online for $150.

  • +1

I ordered it from the Boost Mobile website, as the Officeworks listing mentions a 186 day expiry, a 366 day expiry for the $300 sim. Wasn’t worth the risk.

My payment went to Telstra Corporation Limited, do they own Boost Mobile?
