    • Thanks. I think BigW might be price matching. When I checked out the price reduced to $296.10. I’ll change the price in the title if someone else can confirm he checkout price.

        Yep. $296.10.

      • As of now it does not reduce and stays at $329. At the point where you have to provide card details for payment.

    • The one JB sell is Gen1. The bigW one is Gen2.

  • these are money thrown away basically.
    crappy screen.

    • Screen is the weak point, but that does not stop it functioning, so you are talking bollocks.

Is there an equivalent model with FHD IPS for not much more?

Specs are good for classroom - weight, battery life, 4GB RAM.

Nothing against OP's deal, but deal here was certainly better.

        • Sure. But these are for kids, for education and my kids certainly are not fussy about FHD or TN vs IPS.

For myself, I'd want Full-HD IPS with touchscreen before I bother upgrading. :-)

      • laptop is the screen first and most. whatever you do with it, you look at the screen. crappy screen = head ache, eye strain, and in general affects your ability to work with information.

at this price, an android tablet with keyboard works wonders, since chromebooks run android anyway? but I may be way out of line here since I resigned myself as king of the bargain bin.

Last time I bought a similar device, it cost me $160, also Lenovo, military grade brick impossible to kill. at this price, even gift card included? meh.

        • Chromebooks actually run a proper desktop Linux, not Android. But they can host Android apps in a sort of emulator.
Less locked down than Android or IOS. e.g. Chrome plugins for ad-blocking.

I agree with you on the screen - insofar as I would not like to use it personally.

  • For Chromebook really better has a touch screen.

    • Every laptop should have a touchscreen now. I'm not sure why Apple is holding out.

laptops really don't need a touchscreen, I would say it's different for Windows tablets like the Surface Pro

For those who really want this model, Big W has it available again for the Boxing Day sales at $325 with the $100 gift card. Unlike the current Big W deal on the Lenovo Chromebook C340-11 though, there doesn't appear to be any further reduction at checkout.
