No worries Pony! As far as EB policy goes for trading in consoles, it only needs to have the serial number intact, as we need to scan it into the system when trading. Shouldn’t be an issue otherwise.

Just went to my local store and asked, they said they won’t touch the console if the warranty stickers are broken. I guess I will try another store…
Do EB usually check consoles when trading? Mine has a faulty HDMI port, wondering if they would take it.

I just rang my local EB Games and my PS4 is the CUH-1202A 500gb which they won't trade for the $149 deal.
He did however say that they would trade it for the Pro but I'd have to pay $199.
Does that sound reasonable?
Unless you can sell your old PS4 for more than the difference, I would say go with the trade in. There are a metric ton of PS4s on ebay/gumtree/etc so it could take a while, that's why I recommend the trade ins. You also get to avoid dealing with the annoyance of time wasters from those platforms.

It's my fault, I didn't read the "slim" part of the post.
He also said I could put down a fully refundable $50 deposit on the VR deal they'll be having for black Friday, because he couldn't tell me what the price will be until Thursday midnight.
Told him Big W we're doing them for $249 and he said they'd be close to, if not better.

I have a 4+ year old original console - I'm happy with how it runs and not a huge gamer so can live without minor improvements. The extra 500GB appeals though.

$179 for a Pro with Warranty, new controller, plus better trade in potential when the 5 comes out, only you can make the call.
If you don't have 4k HDR or VR then no real compelling reason to get the pro.

If they won't, get the plug somewhere? Should be easy to find.
Without a plug they usually take $5 off the trade value.

Standard figure 8 kettle plug. Chances are you have another 5 of them round the house. You could just swap them around with the one you're using on the console and you'd be fine.

I backed up to a portable USB Drive, using the backup feature. Then I restored it obviously on the new console.

I would prefer to buy consoles at JB-HIFI where for $50 or so you can have at least 2y extended warranty with refund included.
Well you get a new warranty and possibly even newer games if they let you do this on a bundle (I upgraded Xbox One X standard to a limited edition bubdle last month). It's worth the upgrade for some.
If anyone gets a faulty product as a result of someone trading in a broken console, that's EB's fault and the person will be entitled to a refund.
I agree, some people treat their stuff like crap and there's a lot of that on private marketplace you've got to watch out for. I hope these sort people put a bit more care into raising their children.

Just spoke to a rep over the phone (Molly). I am looking at trading my white PS4 500GB (Original not slim.) The price I got from the rep is $199 (Can be white ps4 pro or black depending on stock levels) and the trade in games can be any games as long as its resealable condition (No min trade value.) Sounds great to me and now lets hope it holds.
For the 2 games you need to trade in can you use XBOX ONE games or only PS4 games count?
For SYDNEY people: I called Liverpool and Wetherill Park who confirmed it's $199 if you trade an OG PS4 + 2 games. If you want WHITE Liverpool only has BLACK left but Wetherill Park has 6 White ones in stock (they have black too) Only thing I forgot to ask was if you can use Xbox One games.
I'm pretty sure the girl at Liverpool did mention it can be Xbox One and Switch games too but I wasn't listening properly to that part because my main question was the price for OG PS4 and if they had white in stock wasn't thinking about using Xbox One games at the time.
You CAN'T trade Destiny 2 either as it's now free to play which I planned to use hence why I'm now trying to find out if I can use an Xbox One game instead.
I don't think it would matter. A game is a game. And even if they don't, you can get their cheapest game and resell.

Pull out the 2TB and put back the original amf put the 2TB on your new Pro.
You'll have to swap it, they only accept 500GB and 1TB PS4's as there is no 2TB Standard PS4 or you could just not tell them as most people seem to say it doesn't even get checked, they just do a visual check.

@Arcticfox: Next year's going to be entirely different based on Phil Spencers announcement that Xbox 2 will release much sooner as there will be two different versions, and it's about getting you the power to play what you want when we want, be it upfront, buy it out, lease it out, trade it in, there's much better ways to play. And Sony has also announced its plans to reveal the ps5 before February, however no idea if they will do game pass or bundle the deals with isp, sales telcos ect.
It's speculated to launch in late 2020 but with E3 gathering less attention then other years and how eager Phil is to release the Xbox 2, it's more likely xbox2X will launch later in the year.

If that's what you mean, then a PS4 Pro will still be worth decent trade value when PS5 drops. In this deal in particular, the PS4 slim is worth $400 in trade ($549.00 standard price = $149.00 after trade). Others have also traded in a PS4 Pro to get a brand new one and it has only cost them $99 (so $450.00 in trade).
There may be other options available, but I doubt trade in options like this are not going to go away or be any less in worth.

I got mine swapped yesterday at the local EB at $154 bcoz i forgot the joystick charging cable. They checked the power on the console and checked my driver license (not sure why) but overall the process was easy.
Probably a bit like taking something in to a pawn shop. If the serial on the PS4 comes up in a stolen goods database at some point in the near future then they can cross check with your license details. Did they record the license number?
