    For Techos ?

  • Why did you post this?

It says on your link this is a new product and this is it's normal price.

Why is this a bargain ?

    • +2

Introductory price is $89; price after promotion is $99.

  • +3

    Likely specs

    res:1024x600 (99% sure)
    cpu:Rockchip RK3326 or Allwinner A33 (50/50)
    battery:2500mah (99% sure)

Based on similar oem devices. Unit price is usually ~$40 before being branded.

    • Thanks!
      Rockchip RK3326: Cortex-A35 64-bit/Mali G31MP2 (GLES 3.2/Vulkan, 2x10.4GF)
      Allwinner A33: Cortex-A7/Mali400 MP2
The other specs are a big jump from Allwinner tablets, so could be the Rockchip —- which seems OK.
2750 mAh in Lenovo E7, for 5 hours, so pr similar (unless IPS makes a difference?)
Is that $40 retail, or wholesale price?

      • +1

Wholesale. Was trying to remember the word lol.

    • +1

Looks like it could be what these tablets are based on - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SN47MG9/

From this link it looks like the Rockchip - http://akiba.jpn.org/?p=67543 I can't read Japanese so not completely sure.

it’s a kids tablet ….. probably better to give a kid in a pram one of these than your iphone or galaxy which i have seen parents do (electronic pacifier) and kids drop them.

load your kids favourite videos and you can use your phone while pushing the pram like the leunig cartoon that infuriated mums.

drop this and ruggedised, most parents phones don’t even have. a case, and if it breaks it’s less than a new screen on an iphone or galaxy

keep things in context, this isn’t an ipad replacement, it’s $89, available locally, and no need to get off aliexpress for those parents who aren’t into waiting 4 weeks for tech to arrive.

If you are not getting an iphone 11 pro for your todller we will have to report you to child services for child abuse.

I know I'm a bit of a hypocrite as I'm currently watching Peppa Pig with my son (so my wife can sleep in), but giving a baby/toddler a tablet in the pram seems like a terrible idea!

      • Yep. Kids absorb and learn so much about the world when they’re young. They shouldn’t have there heads in a tablet for long periods when they’re out and about. But unfortunately it’s the go to move for parents in my generation.

        • On the flip side, depending of course on the content, kids have an opportunity to absorb so much tailored and specific information (which can be shown to improve cognitive development) all while pacifying them in public spaces where dipwhits in public can't stand to hear a toddler existing.

          Win-win?

There is, as always, moderation required, but it's not exactly "screens are evil"

            Yep, but that's what's missing.

Nobody is saying toddlers shouldn't exist in public.

As a parent its your responsibility to discipline your child when in public.

Many a times i been on the bus or train and a toddler is screaming or talking very loudly. Often the parent are clearly not doing anything. Some just carry on their conversation with the other adults they are with.

If this means a kid bury their heads on a gadget so they quieten down for the duration of the bus or train trip. So be it.

@xoom: You don't know what is going on in a child's life when they are screaming on the bus. They might literally have teeth busting clean through their gums, or a bowel full of week old faeces.

Have you ever offered the "ignorant" parents help? They might be at their wits end with no idea what to do. You sound like you know what you are talking about, after all.

              • +1

@tromboc: Theres a difference in i have no idea what to do thefore i do nothing. Or i dont care about my kids. Or im a free spirit teaching my kids independence so i let my kid or kids do as they please without consequences.

To my kid is teething or they are sick and i know they are screaming but i will continue to try pacify them. Yes might not always work but people will see that i am trying.

              • +2

@tromboc: I don't think you know what sort of parent xooms talking about. They're trash people who make no effort to control their kid who runs around the bus screaming, swinging off things etc. while they sit in the disabled section with their suv sized pram chatting away on their iphone. They may scream the kids name once or twice but it does nothing because it's a pointless scream.

It's not the kid is screaming so the parent says "honey I know you're teeth are hurting here have this ice block to gnaw on please keep the volume down".

              This. A hundred times this.

      great parenting right there…

There is also a 10 inch version with an introductory price of $129.

On paper at least this looks like it has a better screen and slightly faster CPU than a Samsung Tab A…which is impressive for the price.

    • Tab A 7" also has IPS screen; pr a little faster (A53 is 10-20% more performant than the A35 this pr has, at same GHz). Biggest difference is its OS (Android 5.1 is getting old now. though performs better!), has less RAM (1.5GB) and storage (8GB).
Samsung pr has better build quality…

On guessed specs, Tab better: 1280 x 800, A53, 4000 mAh; though worse old gpu adreno 306 19.2GF (lacks GLES3.2)

Good news: $89 doesn't seem too cheap, so it's probably not rubbish.

With no reviews to be found I bit the bullet and tried one of these. It’s going back to the store tomorrow. Total rubbish. Crashed 4 times and couldn’t even run Sonic Rush an ancient game, let alone anything newer. My iPad 3 is faster and it’s approaching 8 years old. Real shame I thought someone would have finally got it right.

    • That is really disappointing… Thanks for trying it and reporting.

It seems pointless for BigW to sell something that doesn't work. Maybe you got a faulty unit, though that doesn't say much for quality control.

Just out of curiosity, did you happen to notice any further specs?

BTW I couldn't find Sonic Rush, was it Sonic Dash? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sega.sonic…
